  1. Nice shooting mate and welcome to the rimmie world, have fun.
  2. I tend to just stick to head shots as the game dealer wont take other ones.
  3. I have recently bought some Lapua subsonic. They are extremley accurate and quite. Two of my friends on my reccomendation have tried the ammo and we have all decided to move from our usual ammo (eley/cci and winnie subs)to the Lapua. The grouping on targets are also tight and consistent.
  4. I spoke to gmk recently who said they have some.
  5. Just wondering if any of you guys or gals have tried these rounds, and if they are any good or bad.
  6. Im glad your not my dentist :11: . nice shooting mate
  7. Thanks for the replies guys and gals. Whats the price difference in .17hmr and .22wmr ammo price, and just how much does wind effect the hmr compared to the wmr
  8. Did it a few months back with the rimmie one in the head, the other in the neck area. Also done it with first shot on my lads .410
  9. Hi mate. Try and find somebody with a rimmie to go out with shooting, before you apply and buy. You really will learn a lot. I used guntrader to find my rifle. A CZ Style .22lr (new) 3X9X50 IR SCOPE, SAK Mod, spare mag, mounts, harris bipod, sling and swivels and 500 rnds, all for under £400. Just have a good about and haggle a bit, there is always a bargin about. All the best
  10. Grand stuff. i have just been asked tonight to thin out some hares, shoot rabbits and foxes. for 2 farmers.
  11. Wood does look good, but for practicality synthetic does for me.
  12. i dont know much about the mentoring bit. However i have held my FAC for .22lr for less than 12months. I got references of the landowners i shoot for and supplied further supporting evidence of my experience with firearms. I also contacted the NGO who supported my application. New FAC came in post today with open condition. Only took 2 weeks aswell. Thanks NGO and the cops. I suggest you try the same route.
  13. Hi all, currently using .22 winnie subs on a cz452 style put about 2000 rounds through it with no probs. Bought a brick at the game fair and all was well. Just about halfway through the brick. One box in particular is hitting the rabbits like a steam train, hard hitting, not as quiet and they dont seem to be expanding either. TREID ANOTHER BOX AND ALL IS WELL. Is this something that happens or do i have a problem emerging.
  14. Out tonight for some bunnies, will let you know how i get on.
  15. Hi all currently got a .22 rimmie. Would like something for those long range rabbits, crows etc. I have beem recommended both calibers and need some more info before i decide. Any advice would be appreciated
  16. i generally do use the back of my hand which works well. But its worth a try on the jeep window.
  17. Im lookong forward to trying that on saturday night. i will let you know how i get on :search:
  18. My apologies to those concerned then. However just read my FAC my condition states (a) the shooting of vermin or, in connection with the management of any estate, other wildlife. So what does other wildlife mean? Fox or no fox. Time to ring the FLO for clarity me thinks. Again apologies if thats a stupid question.
  19. Armchair man again. NO. Fox are now classed as medium quarry, and you are very unlikely to get a condition to use rimfire "for the purpose of " shooting foxes. If you have a rimfire for the "purpose of" killing "pest species" you may also get a condition for "occasional fox" . . . ie close range head shots. Seems about right to me. Ric Hells teeth i only asked a question.i hope your not implying that "im a armchair man". I regulary shoot rabbits and on occasion come acroos a fox on my shoot. if that occurs 12g with BBs. I would like a center fire but i at this present time i cant affor
  20. if you have vermin on your fac does that not cover you for shooting foxes with a rimfire. is a fox classed as vermin in the eyes of the police
