  2. Ref bed/whippet. I am located in Pembrokeshire West Wales Ref your question XD, you've answered it yourself. Ref big napper: I expect an outcome in a couple of weeks, as FAO visited two weeks ago. He said it looked good for ticket and he would tick all my boxes. However as we all know the final decision is not his to make! When asked how long my application would take from the date of his visit he said " you should hear something in three to four weeks" That was on the 05/03.. Nothing is final until the fat lady sings. Ref mhopten: because i want to sell it to fund a new or second hand .
  3. Due to a recent application for my FAC i am now waiting for confirmation or denial from my local constabulary. Being unsure of their decision or the date of arrival of my ticket i have decided to post one of my Air Rifles on the forum as it will be surplus to requirements if my FAC is granted. However if my application fails then i would obviously want to retain the rifle as it stands me £500 and would be difficult to replace at that cost in todays market .Purchased from new by myself for my youngest sons introduction to hunting, the rifle has had nominal use and is in all round good conditio
  4. great stance, looks great. How did you get rid of the smell? i have trapped a few of them and my van has stunk for days.
  5. must have watched you checking it or setting it yesterday. i have lost mole traps in sight of the road due to someone seeing me out of a car window. always gutting loosing ones kit.
  6. hello, those mounts look really high for such a flat round, is there a problem with bolt clearance with that model rifle ?
  7. dam shame your the other side of the country
  8. would you swap just the rifle set up as have gun safe etc, have air arms s200 mk1 with tuning screw, 10 shot conversion aa silencer bsa 4x12x40 scope with parallax, good condition well looked after. pm me for pics if interested, will pay rfd both ways.
  9. I never ferret during the summer months due to fleas and ticks, if the winter is mild baby rabbits can be found underground on boxing day. I find the wind direction is the key to rabbits bolting. Wind from the east rabbits bolt least. Good westerly they fly out of the ground. Last time i ferreted on an easterly i had to dig six from seven. Im sure its do do with the way scent travels around the buries, one thing is for sure even the hounds have trouble finding scent when its easterly.
  10. Great job there mate. Thats one less, but beware many more will follow. Might be worth keeping a few wires set just in case.
  11. Yes , you will need to get them on the feed first. throw bread into the tide while your setting up your kit. Small hooks are a must, i use trout doubles. A float works well for a while until the fish become shy. After that free line the bread and just watch it get sucked in off the surface. If you can get the gulls feeding on your bread that helps too. Take a look at youtube, pembsangler. Mullet up too 6lb off the quey in Hwest. Some good fishing in the summer months.
  12. Thanks for reading gents, Mullet fishing has been a favorite passtime of mine for a couple of years now. Well worth a cast or two, and lets face it bread must be one of the easiest baits to aquire. Give it a try you will be suprised by the power of these fish.
  13. Shot and ferreted plenty of black rabbits around here. I believe that they are a throw back from the Rabbit farms that where located around the area some 40 or 50 years ago. They where bread for thier fur and obviously some escaped and bred with the local population. I have seen up to 7 black rabbits in one warren. Have had at least 20 rabbits this year with white fur under their chins too.
  14. this is all true, its called Rabbit Starvation. The miners in the clondike suffered from it, when they ate nothing but Rabbit through the winter months. The more you eat the quicker you starve. Eating plenty of veg etc does help. more info here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_starvation
  15. previously i have just laid a rabbit in stones beside the fire and has cooked ok, A spit can be fashioned from some green sticks, use green ones to help stop them burning scrape the bark off them first to get rid of the bitter taste. Unfortunatly rabbit is always a bit tough when cooked like this. For a better scoff wait till you get home. Then cut your rabbit into quarters, back legs, back, ribs etc, place in a baking tray add two whole unions chopped, sault pepper, 1 tea cup full of cooking oil 2 cups full of water.Cover in foil. Gas mark 4 2hours then turn meat over for another 2 hours, The

  17. greetings, nice to see someone intrested in the finer arts what sort of hunting are you wanting to take part in [bANNED TEXT].? Ferreting, lamping, air rifle shooting? Do you have access to any land? More to the point do you like crawling around in thick brambles spending hours removing thorns. I thought there was plenty of boys in the swansea area that where into hunting. There are plenty down here intrested but quarry is hard to find. Once rabbit numbers explode it aint long before every man and his dog turn up for some sport. Who could blame them Im sure there must be a few boys on here tha
  18. if using frontline on your ferrets please beware, make sure the ferret is kept out in the open until the fluid dries. Frontline is a good product i use it myself. However the ferret can be overcome by the fumes in a confined space and die. I usually block up the entrance to the sleeping quarters till im sure the fumes have evaporated.
  19. Nomally 8lb leader, 10lb if fishing amongst the trees, for obvious reasons lol . Im sure diffrent rivers fish diffrent flies, palmered Dunkel, Alexander, Dark Mackrel all three will catch on our river. But seems the closer you get to the spawning grounds the less fussy the fish get. I fish the lower stretches near the estury and the basic fly like the Peter Ross catches well.
