  1. It would have to go to proof and after it has passed that i see no problems at all. Each to their own and not a route i would take. But good luck with YOUR project and beware folk who denounce any thing that is not what THEY think you should have !
  2. Thats nothing i can easily shoot 200 in sunday morning messing about on the range
  3. Stop worrying If i offered you a nearly new BMW or a brand new Peugeot would you think twice ??
  4. Make that 10 in two months got another vixen last night .
  5. Lab ! Goose to big for the average springer, a large Springer might easily carry a goose on land. But on a cold day and a big lake, fast river or the sea . You are asking too much. And i have prefer springers ! But i don't expect them to collect Goose . Remember Springers are a flushing dog that retrieves . Labrador retriever its in the name.
  6. I have not crono'd mine yet . But according to quickload it should be about 3765 fps . I will post the true fps as soon as my mate brings his crono out. What have you shot with your fireball ? I have had 9 foxes in two months, i shot 3 Saturday night , Longest shot Sat was 181 paces Vixen neck shot. Not used the 22-250 since i got the .17 Fireball up and running.
  7. It all depends on so many factors ! Surface the scales sit on Cost of scales both sorts have cost and quality differences in them How often you accureately check them the beam scales have the human eye error of not always being at level with the mark Cheap electronic scales can sometime have errors with accurate measures Even wind or air currents in the room can have an effect I personly use a rcbs charge master expensive but quick and has several system checks.
  8. Keep what you have ! With a .243 you will not improve what you have . True you will get a longer range harder hitting fox rifle . But louder and with more recoil than your .222. And you get a less meat friendly deer rifle. With less choice of deer bullets. 6.5 x 55 is a better choice than .243 if you rearly want to change !
  9. Both seam to be killed face down ! Bird of prey ? The doves on my garden get taken by sparrow hawks alot. They nearly always are pinned face down and eaten through the shoulders and head.
  10. I think there is some at Chatsworth might be park deer though.
  11. You said... why take it to be assessed, I didn't! But just why should being curius about it turn me into a trophy hunter? I KNEW it was a decent head and my shooting buddy that day was very excited, he took it to the show for marking, actually he prepared it as well, I've not seen it since the day it was shot!! Kindly go and crawl back in your hole and let the adults get on with things, Mr L has NOTHING to do with this in any way shape or form! Spelling as good as reading ! Classic.
  12. You love to prove me right ! Get an adult to read i said why get it assessed NOT YOU took it to be assessed. As for **** you thought that was mr logic job ? you had a tiff
  13. So if you are not a trophy hunter why take it to be assesed you have said on earlier posts you regard roe as vermin ? The information on heads is readily avaliable but first you have to learn how to read !
  14. It was only assessment at the midland, It can't be officialy scored until after the mandatory 90 day drying out period . Not like you not to know it all !
  15. My primers all come out the same as yours ! i have used remington 7.5 and federal. .6 is a BIG jump in fireball powder ! .3 is the max recomended increase in one jump, i use 16 gr of h4198 but have been to 16.9 gr but got all the signs of pressure flat primers and lenghtend case's. When someone did a quick load on 16.9gr it came back as a dangerous over pressure load so look at all avenues and don't take the reloading data as gospel.
  16. Before you buy factory ammo (hate wasting cash) . You could try one of my reloads for fit where in leicester are you ?
  17. On my prefered load od 16 gr H4198 i get no movement on the brass. When i upped the powder to 16.9 gr they started to strech, Mine is a remington seven. Are you neck sizing or full lenght ? i had problems with my .22-250 with neck sizing brass being tight fitting, full lenghted and probles went away .
  18. Wonder how many witness Notts police expect to come foward ? The last time i went lamping in a field at midnight there was no one about !
  19. The longer the barrel for better acccuracy works to a point, as with bullet speed it gets to a certain speed, and then it won't go any faster as max pressure has been acheived.
  20. Hi Mike What powder/bullets inc weights are you shooting ? i have a fireball in remington model 7 preditor with standard stock , and am getting better groups so might be able to help with my load. i also have a remington with a HS Precision stock that did not need bedding ( ali block) and shoots less than 1" groups with a weedy thin barrel. What length barrel are you useing as a cut might help lose som weight ? As 700's are a lot more common than the 7 a used stock should be easy to find that is very light like the HS ones with an ali frame and carbon/Kev mix,
  21. Remington model 7 stainless synthetic ( PS Precision stock) .260 rem with 129 gr hornaday Sp interlock for muntijack fallow woodland. Accuracy international 7.62 x 51 with 155 gr hornaday sst for fallow on open areas/fields Have .22/250 conditioned as well
  22. Read your posts again , you are guilty of all the above accusations ! Don't Call me Mate . Try to be an individual that your Regiment would be proud off ! Not an Ex Sqaddie with an Attitude Problem , Oh and by the way if you want to play with your cock thats up to you but leave mine out of it please.
  23. Oh right mark i did not realise at the end of the day you were Ex Force's ! That explains quite a lot .
