Doe's Anyone Take Their Terriers Jogging?
coldweld replied to gary.l's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I take my springer out on the bike she good for 8 miles but a bit tetchy on the way home if another dog rushes up at her. Would take the terriers but one likes to hunt on her own every time my back is turned and the other would cause me to fall off ! -
There is a used Howa 1500 on stalking ***** forum at the moment ! Not much more than a 30 year old Parker hale and still not sold. wonder why
-
And your reasons for not buying a premium used rifle as opposed to a cheap new rifle are ? Just because a Tikka or a Sako is new it don't mean it is better than an older model, New models of both makes of rifles show signs of production cost reduction. There are quite a few Custom Remington's for sale that have cost their previous owner 3 or 4 time's more cash to build than what they can sell them for. There are 100's of BSA and Parker Hale rifles for less than £250 that will easily shoot sub 1" groups at 100m but are not in vogue ! If you want to buy new your budget will have to

My choice would be :- SAKO pre 75 Tikka Pre T3 Remington that has been pimped

Firearm Variation .17 Winchester Super Mag
coldweld replied to hitman hilts's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Carried away ! Decker you are being too nice. Fantasy more like at 400m it will be far from flat and will be unlikely to cleanly kill any fox over six months old. -
No ! To dark and well built, feral or failed racer

I have a 17fireball and USED to have a .22-250 but sold it as I no longer used it. The fireball is slower than the Rem but not by much ! I have shot Fox at 220m,crow out to 600. Rabbits have to be head shot as heads are vaporized, and any body shots even chest shots suck intestines out the exit hole. All the stories of how bad the CF 17's are mainly spread by people who have not owned one !

That's true unless you have Expanding bullets ! As they count as your total to hold, loaded or just in the box. ATB Coldweld

Sussex No hard or fast rules i have had muntjack and fallow run with .308 150 grn sp and had them drop to shot all heart shot. Even had a buck heart shot at a short distance that was looking around for the sorce of the bang with what looked like a hosepipe of blood pouring from the exit wound. Now use a .260 129 grn sp and get less runners ? Why ? don't know one else may have the answer.

Reloading Data is changeing all the time download some ,buy some you can never have too much info. COL is measured as you have been told !!! Your rifle might have a different one though ! Factory made rifles tend to have a longer COL tham SAMMI as bigger is less of a problem than a short chambering. You Tube will show you all about COL gauges

Shooting Fox With A Shotgun
coldweld replied to fieldsportsman's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
IF you had to shoot your dog ! Would you use bird shot or larger ? I shoot fox's most weeks but still belive they deserve to be killed as quickly and effectively as possible, if you have no respect for the quarry you are shooting or don't have the morals to let a fox pass if you are unsure that one shot will achive an instant kill. Perhaps you should not raise your gun ? -
Plenty of chinese stuff under £100 9 (hawk, nikko)

England British Shooting Show Stoneleigh Park
coldweld replied to porkybella's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
A mate of mine has just rang me and said it was a total fiasco, to get in and parking was terrible. Said the show was bigger than Newark but even though it was indoor he said it was F*** freezing in the cattle sheds. Glad i went to the range ! -
What you useing now ? A .240 is no quieter than anything else infact small and fast is sometimes noisier than big and slow and the strike will alarm horses.

223 Or 22-250 For Foxing?
coldweld replied to Hunter123456's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Congratulations ! You are leading in the 2013 facts i should not of posted , I have just sold my .22/250 as my .17fireball is now my preference, as it is faster than a .22/250 that must mean the barrels only last 6 months ? -
Derbyshire Police Feo Email Address Pls
coldweld replied to TWOTWOTHREE's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Wright a letter with recorded delivery ! You still have no proof with an email as you will not get an acknowlegment that it has been recived. The answer you have had is the normal response. if you are unhappy wright to the new PCC. i have just had a Variation back they told me Month but it only took two weeks. -
Bradford Lad i do the same and lift, It,s not just the barbs i've seen a pointer hanging and screaming with its leg between top to strands ! Took two of use and a coat wraped around the bitey end to get it off. Cost the owner over £1500 in torn off ligaments op and physio/swimming treatments dog became a pet as not safe to work it as the leg lost side to side stability. But as others have said thats the point of a Dog to fetch a £1.50 bird why worry about it ? it's only a disposable tool at the end of the day ? is it not

NO NO and NO !!!!

Swarovski, Zeiss, S&B, Leica, Kahles... dont produce Mounts Neither do Viper ! They buy Indonesian mounts and resell them Same as the scopes.

I agree ! Bull terriers have not been bred for their intended purpose for over a hundred years yet all of a sudden, it's just what working terriers need ! The WORKING terriers i grew up around where spanable JR's and they were only put to other working JR's , they were small and nasty but did the job on fox. And as it was pre coller the Bayed and did not need to hold. Also the fox's pelt was of value in those days !
