To very briefly paraphrase what has been written above. Under The Hunting Act 2004, a police officer can confiscate your dogs, cars, or any "article" they believe may be used to commit the crime. They have to have "reasonable suspicion" meaning that they have to be pretty certain you're up to no good for them to do it. Written permission will not always protect you from this, at least not until your defence team start to wipe the floor with them, in court. The world is run by lawyers and lobbyists. They make lots of money arguing these points and finding/exploiting loopholes. I couldn't agree more with you. I do too. We're in the business of making things dead. To make that happen as quickly and humanely as possible is what we are duty bound to accomplish. It's a moral stance and also a legal one. Proving that someone intentionally broke the act is extremely difficult. The witness is usually dead or cremated and can't speak to a solicitor anyway. Releasing healthy wild rabbits is not an offence under the Pests Act 1954, or any other acts or amendments.. Releasing wild rabbits, infected with myxomatosis, is an offence under the Pests Act 1954. There is no law that says you cannot release rabbits. The law does state that land occupiers have a legal obligation to control rabbits. This means while you are not committing an offence you are taking empty, rabbit free land, and forcing it's occupier/owner into a legal quandary. That's very true Tom. They have more members than the political parties. They were recently instrumental in having a handgun ban, in Washington DC, overturned as they successfully went to the highest courts and declared it 'un-constitutional.' Can you imagine that here? A unified voice is what we need but why is it when anyone tries to, in the UK, they're vilified and slandered left right and centre?

If it was deleted, it was because it wasn't wanted here. Maybe not your fault, it might be someone who's come in and posted something totally inappropriate. How much is he willing to spend? What's his bottom line with regard to rifle condition? (i.e does he want a bag of scrap parts or does he want something rough but functional?) I only ask this because you've given us no details at all and it will save members alot of time and finger ache trying to sell him something totally unsuitable.

Best spring pistol is the Weihrauch HW45. It's as near to the legal limit as you can get, in the UK. Benjamin Sheridan do the EB .22, which is CO2. It's also close to the limit and a little more forgiving to the shooter. I wouldn't bother with anything else, IMHO. You can buy expensive PCP target pistols which are great for competition but not something you want to drop in a muddy field. Distance is all relative. It depends purely on how you are as a shooter. How much practice you put in. What pellets you use, pretty much the same standards as rifle shooting. You can get very good groupin

Not too bothered about people asking the same stuff over and over again. Yes it can be annoying that they don't use the search engine but that's just how these things pan out. I've been a mod here since Ian opened the site and it bugged me to begin with but forums are the same the world over. You get used to it... the longer you hang around the less it will bother you. Don't be too hard on them. It certainly generates traffic on the board although I must admit some of the stuff gets tedious after a while.

Fellas... re-read some of these posts... if you were a non-shooter looking for advice would you find them helpful or really f*****g confusing. We're the only people that talk about chronographs and ft/lbs... we're the nerds that talk to other nerds in our purpose built nerdery... This guy has come in for some tips and we've gone overboard with the technical jargon... is it any surprise he hasn't been back in?

Sound advice from the above. If you want to make any rifle shoot worse, you add an Ox Spring. Looks like you're finding that out. Take it to a guns shop or put the original spring back in. Do it soon if your gun is running over 12ft/lbs and you haven't got your FAC.
