Thanks for the constructive feedback and advice, I am only 17 and like I said am very new to all this, still alot to learn! Spot on ooty No running dog should be running at large quarry let alone rabbits at 10 months of age.Physically and mentally the dog will be far from mature, and could be injured or ruined by starting t so early. My beddyxwhippet was out ferreting with me,and catching bolters at 7 monthsold, but i never let her run on open ground till she was over a year old.Tale your time and let the pup be a pup.

Thanks for the info guys! Could you elaborate a little on how you go about training with the skin? How can you ruin a dog when its young? Sorry if these are daft questions. Thanks

My boy is retreiving live to hand as well, although he is reluctant to let go when he gets to me. The only other habit I want to break is him running down the light. Apart from that i cant complain, hes doing great. Any advise on helping with those two issues would be welcome. Thanks

Hi, Out with my 9 month old whippet last night when I spot a sitter, still new to this so thought it was a rabbit, albeit a large big eared rabbit. Got to within 20 yrds and slipped him when it bolted. During the long twisting turning chase, I am thinking this rabbit is very agile, never seen a rabbit jump 3ft in the air before. After 2-3 minutes of frantic chasing the big eared bunny began to tire and as soon as my dog hit it I new for sure what it was. I have never seen one before, let alone heard the noise they make when caught. Now my boy will be nine months old in 2 weeks an
