  1. i like a good baying terrier. dont want a dog that gets chewed up all the time. a good bolting dog will get the job done quicker and easier. i admire a pushy terrier but there not for me
  2. my father in law saw a big cat in scotland when he reported it to the police the whole station started meowing two days later there was another sighting by no other than two policemen. this time it made a couple of paragraths in the local rag . five years later whilest driving plantation with dogs on to a big old moor i saw a sandy coloured big cat i had plenty of time to watch it in broad daylight its long back low carried head and long tail the end of it disapearing in the deep heather. it really was a sight. so i did what any hunter in there right mind would do i lifted up the only do
  3. the answer is simple when she is ready. and stands for the dog. arches her back and turns her tail. and doesnt take the face off yer dog
  4. i once met a fella that tried to sell me a patt. it would stay all day . one hole and your on him he could bolt foxes for fun and if they didnt bolt he would kill em the only thing wrong with it was it shit through the mesh in its pen . so this world beater was for sale becouse the owner didnt like the way it shit. this is true.
  5. Well the best I can suggest then is that your mate give the dog away to someone who is going to bring it up right before he fecks it up altogether got to agree with that. find the dog a good owner that has enough sense to bring it on right.

  7. most terriermen dont want to dig six feet to a rabbit or rat. they are out after fox and there dogs are generally broke to rabbits. to stop this happening however dogs being dogs. sometimes shit happens. hope this helps
  8. frosty of course there are fox terriers that would work and maybe some would work well. but they are the exeption rather than the rule yes there are work bred dogs that are to big/broad also . whats that got to do with the price of mince there are to big in all working breeds. i'm not anti KC. i just have enough common sense to admit that years of breeding for shows will not enhance working ability. some of todays fox terriers are almost deformed due to the breeding for fashion. as for there jaws . they nost definatly have been elongated and weakened. my mother in laws yorkie will hang on
  9. LADS I GOT TO HAD TO THIS AND GIVE DUE WHERE ITS DUE NEVER BEEN GREAT PLUMMER FAN BUT A MATE OF MINE HAS BEEN KEEPING THEM NOW FOR GOING ON NEARLY TWENTY YEARS IN THAT TIME HES HAD SOME REAL GOODUNS AND TOOK SOME GOOD BUMPINS . HE PUT ONE OF THESE BITCHS TO A GOOD RUSSELL DOG BRED A LITTER OF PUPS FROM THEM AND SHARED THEM OUT BE TWEEN THEM I END UP WITH ONE DOG PUP WHEN IT WAS TWELVE MONTHS OLD I DIDNT
  10. I`me thinking of next year getting myself a terrier pup, i know keeps myself and if cleanspade recomends getting one from keeps, i`ll be sending a p.m. to see if keeps has a litter planned.. Mars.. well if you want an all round terrier you could do a lot worse. but if you wanted a diggin dog you would do better to buy from diggin stuff. my bitch was bought to work on top and in heavy cover and farm dumps ect alongside a lurcher to hunt up and knock stuff from cover and also to go to ground and bolt foxes. she is doing everything i got her for and i'm happy with her if you are
  11. yes its a little known secret. working dogs do f**k up on occasion. even the best make mistakes. in fact the more a dog is worked the more likely it is to make the odd mistake. neil cooney. top post and it was loose lips sink ships i dont know what the fuss is about i was ferretting not long ago and i bolted a fox i gave that ferret a good talking to i can tell ye
  12. the fox terrier over here has been bred for generations on show points. it nothing more than a show dog now it has an over long weak jaw and has a very deep chest . its back is far to short. but the main problems lie where they cant be seen generations of breeding for showing is hardly going to help the working qualities of any dog bangin on about problems in working breeds wont make the fox terrier any better. as a working dog the fox terrier is HISTORY
