there is a large variation on what is considered to be a whippet. but small pure whippets arnt the dog for fox. would be like shooting them with an air rifle in my opinion . they are under powered

14inches tts Shineyspade she is a good sized terrier then. but i take the big dogs can get where little dogs cant with a pinch of salt. a good big un may get up better than a poor little un. but a good handy sized terrier will get to more than a good big un. and do it quicker and easier. size is very important not knocking the bigg uns it a fact of life with terriers they do need to be small enough to get

Excellent summary you will see if you check all my posts i'm not nasty to anyone. or at least try not to be. i try to be constructive and i find a lot of plummer politics confusing. firstly i'm not really interested in the past. but more the here and now. and the future i like the outcross dogs. ive seen some of yours and to be honest i find them tidy enough terriers that look capable of doing a job of work . however the bull blood used was a mix of bull lines including english bull.. it seems to me a newcomer to the breed that the breed do need someone to lookout for the workin

thanks for the reply. the reason i like this type of register is that it doesnt close the gene pool. and so it allows you to use a quality working animal that wouldnt be available. i suppose it may allow fault in to the breed but this register also allows new blood if nessesary to breed out faults. the plummer of today has many faults some of them serious. the rules of the above link are there to build a larger gene pool so the better animals can be worked tested and then the better animals can then be used to further the breed. its a tried and tested method. and i think a similar set up woul

i.m not in any club for working plummers but i would have no problem saying that i'm not interested in KC reg and i would be happy to give my blessing to anyone that wants to go for registraton. i just have different priorities than them. and i would be happy to own my unregistered dogs with or without papers. this is one possible route for the working plummer enthusiasts that arnt into the KC. what do folk think. http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/sunsong/UK%20Teckel/ukteckel.htm

What sports that ? whatever fieldsport your into mr nicholson. i as to the earlier genuine question as to the future of the plummer terrier it is destined to go two ways in my honest opinion working enthusiasts will go down one road and the KC. brigade down another. there will be another split in the breed its sad but inevitable as the breed clubs most definately dont cater for the working side of the breed. in fact they seem to do everything in there power to try and obstruct it at every chance they get. this thread is a typical example of the imature and childish games . :realma

graham nicholson. just had a look at your topics. and as with all other messers desperate to put down others there arnt any ( surprise surprise) there are a few posts however. mostly it seems you are on here to cause trouble and stir it a bit. enjoy it whilst it lasts the mods are sharp on this sight . and are stamping down on this type of activity. That's a real nice dog that mate, looks like he was a serious terrier. cheers AFT. He was a handy dog a bay n mix type but could finish a fox and did so on a few occasions. here is a couple more pics for yourself and selwin froggy got loads more of this old fella . i never tire of looking at his pics.
