Everybody differs in their choice of lurcher so you will get loads of answers telling you to have this type or that type, you will have an idea in your head what you want..... me personally ........i cant see past the beddy x whippet......beddy x greyhound.........love my two 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy dogs (one has short coat), and for the bigger type i will only ever have the deerhound x greyhound 1st or 2nd generation although i do love my 3/4 greyhound 1/4 deerhound, these are the types of lurcher i will only ever own as i find them very biddable and have very stable natures , just my choice bu

Why no Spaniels, Vixen? Each to their own of course! just dont like them, dont like their temperament Fair enough - obviously you work your running dogs/terriers so our opinions will differ but i'd like to know why you don't fancy a Spaniels temperament?? Having worked years grooming all breeds the springers were always strange natured, some would be downright nasty and try and bite, others were hyperactive wrecks, cockers were all just neurotic , my friend breeds springers for work (she shoots) and i cant stand hers either, they are always 100mph everywhere, my oth

"Sporting" Dog Breeds; Becoming more popular as pets ?

Wastage???? i have never heard of such a word being used to describe pups in a litter, anyone who considers any pup wastage shouldn't be breeding, if you breed a litter of pups regardless of numbers then every single individual pup in that litter is your responsibility!! your responsibility to rehome in a responsible loving caring home where the pup wont be abused or flung out or passed around for all of its life, i would rather see a whole litter of lurcher pups in "pet" homes happy being cared for and loved than a very high percentage of the poor bloody dogs and pups advertised on here and p -

i do know what wastage means when said, but being a "snob" i think it's callous the way some people treat and talk about their dogs............i dont know anyone who has kept a whole litter of lurchers or terriers unless there has just been two or three pups .........................at the end of the day i would rather give my pups to a pet home than a lot of the so called working homes on here............. Totally agree, over the years it has become blatantly apparent to me the same people fail with pup after pup yet still call themselves genuine working dogmen/women. Then some n -

Having an opinion is not being melodramatic (i'm too old and wise for melodramatics )..........when breeding a litter for work be it lurcher, terrier, collie or whatever, there will be surplus puppies (as no one breeds a litter to keep them all) these surplus puppies are not wastage they deserve the same treatment and duty of care as the puppy being kept, i know straight away with any litter i have bred which pup i'm keeping BUT...........that doesn't warrant calling the rest of the litter wastage!! there are too many people breeding litters now that have no duty of care to a litter and treat -
