i like bushing a lot these days, seeing the 2 borders hunting up,yapping and teararsing about,you never know whats going to happen, today was astrange one, terriers were in a long strip of bramble chasing afew rabbits about, they were in for some time yappin, in and out then they caugh one well i thought they did,i heard a squeal but it went on for to long, rabbits were flying out all over the place so were the terriers, usually the one that catches the rabbit will come out with it but that didnt happen, i think there may have been a stoat or some thing in there as well, the terriers worked th

took the 2 out this morning for alook adout , went to see if they were intrested in going to ground, when i got to the 3 holer they were not at all interested, just rolled around in the grass and bracken,so i walked about 20yards away the dog got a whiff of something and off he went, then he started yapin he was going away from me,i called the bitch to me and just listened to him, next thing a cracker of a fox came running by not 20yards to the side of me, the bitch seen it and was off, the dog came back the same way as the fox, i called to him and got him by me, he was panting abit and wante

took the borders for a walk out yesterday, weather was poor, rain damp, was surprized at the amount of rabbits still on top dogs had a few to go at, put up a small deer as well which came right by me in the bramble,today the weather was good and sunny took the dogs for awalk out and they put up afew more rabbits out, but to top it off as they were in the brambles out flew this bird, at first i thought it was a kessy or hawk of some kind [the sun was at my back] it flew right in front of me and landed on the short grass, it was a woodcock,it was only 12 ft away what beautifull bird it is, ive p

sorry for got to say they are the only two birds in the aviary, the aviary is 7fy by 3ft by6ft high,

the wife has a small aviary we lost afew birds last year, so she bought a glostercock bird in, after afew weeks she bought a bordercock bird,[yesterday] in,they have been fighting, will they settle down, or should they be parted,or would getting in afew more birds stop them fighting, thank dave,

try a border, just had me pups out this morning with there dam and the dog pup 10 mts old put his first fox out of the bramble he knew it was in there the dam dived in with him and out it come, hopefully he will be ok for next season he has had alisten or two so fingers crossed, -
gaffer this thread takes me back abit, many years back my old deputy cracked me over the legs with one of them sticks iwas working on abutton job and had nodded off,i was on night shift i had told him i was 18,he got a bollicking cos i was still 17, the village was all ways crawling with cops stop you every time you went out with the lurchers 12mts out on strike in the village they had asoup kitchen served meals most days,

thanks fireman, just took out some conifer its past its best, went this morning to get some more but couldnt find agood one to bring back so took a branch of hawthorn.

the last litter we had was a unplanned one.took her to the vets for the jab but after speaking to the vet we let her have the pups 4bitches and 1 dog . 4 went to working homes and 1 to apet one.didnt want any thing for them but acouple of lads gave us fifty notes.pups are just ayear old now and comming on ok.

What Age Do You See Your Lurcher Slowing Down????

we have a bitch here that is almost 9yrs and she is well past here best. same breeding collie bull greyhound.she worked 100% from about 12mt old, didnt need terriers to flush she was in the hedgerows her self. i used to wince at the bumps and thuds when she was on some thing. it all catches up on them at some point, as bird said all dogs are different. she started to slow down about 2-yrs ago. -

cheers fireman, we have just built a wall 8ft long 6ft high 3ft wide and painted it a cream colour ?. just need to get the aviary now,will get hold of bird mags from this week, thanks again.

can anyone give us a few tips on purchasing an aviary for 6 birds, finches and canaries.we were looking at riverside aviarys the petersfield 6x6x3. not into diy but if alot cheaper maybe, any info appreciated thanks

thats a fair shout bbb, back in the late80s i lost a collie type lurcher bitch she was an out and out rabbit dog. hit by a car, so i said thats it no more for me.well you know what its like when you have no lurcher about the place.so i phoned dh, and asked what he had. he had a litter of 6mt old pups out of richard jones, i took a dog £100.+£15 vat.the dog was very very nervous but slowly got better, he would not be kenneled up. he slept outside in the garden in rain and snow it didnt bother him at all. he was used on a bitch and that was it. over the fence he would go so had to build kennels

i cut the bottoms off my worn out muck boots. works just fine.no snagging, nice and warm.easy to put on.
