Bad Foot Injury, Flesh Wound Down To Bone
FERRETBOY replied to FERRETBOY's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Just a quick update fellas.. fly went back into the vets today and was put under anaesthetic and I believe they have cleaned the wound, removed excess skin and bandaged it up. It will need fresh dressing daily. Just what I thought they would do. Luckily no other serious damage caused. Shes back at home and I will need to give her carprofen 2x daily and amoxicillin and clavulanic acid 2 x daily. I will take on the advice you guys have given me and looking to treat her with the medihoney products. Yesterday was stressful for me, I had just been on holiday for a few days break which cost me a -

My issue is I cant see what a vet could do to help either. rew -
Just been away for a couple days so had to rely on my dad to look after my old dog whilst Nottz looked after my pup. This morning I have recieved bad news and fly (my old dog) has ended up at my mates house and has been injured very badly. Shes obviously in pain but relaxed, but now im in a shitty predicament as I don't have insurance, I cant afford any expsensive vet bills and im not acceptable for free vet care from the pdsa. All my dad could say was " I must have left the gate open" . this is fooking shit. More bad luck and the old dog could do without this. will post a pic asap and let y

Rabbit punch. Definition "A rabbit punch is a blow to the neck or to the base of the skull. It is considered especially dangerous because it can damage the cervical vertebrae and subsequently the spinal cord, which may lead to serious and irreparable spinal cord injury. A rabbit punch can also detach the victim's brain from the brain stem, which can kill instantly." You are lucky to be alive vin lol .Nice bit of footage that and surprisingly good quality. well done the dogs for sticking up for you otherwise I reckon he might have finished you off.

That place looks really remote, breath taking scenery and nice weather. Get in! Did you not take a lamp? I bet the ton would be achievable. Well done chaps.

New video I filmed late October time whilst ferreting solo with my pup. I was and still very pleased with how shes progressing. This video was on the first warren but after that I moved onto some hedgerows and the fun really started. Will upload part 2 tonight. I was going to save all the footage for a dvd but decided against that idea as there was so much to edit. Hope you enjoy. http://youtu.be/9eI71E5oXQU Thanks for watching good hunting rew

Back Out On One Day Insurance Again
FERRETBOY replied to nottzhunter08's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I really appreciate what your saying rake aboot. We are probably abit to serious for some but we get results even on less populated ground. I have been going out with a number of lads that have only started getting into lurchers and they have so many bad habits they have picked up from others. Maybe by being seen doing it our way others will follow suit. Then again some of these lads have already wanted to stop altogether after just a couple seasons. That's very true Nottz, nice when the butcher covers your costs so you can go again, tonight maybe? However do we need to be going as far -
Back Out On One Day Insurance Again
FERRETBOY replied to nottzhunter08's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
24 hour car insurance is £40. Reason its so expensive is because somebody crashed into my car when it was parked. Obviously I claimed but I later find out the woman had no insurance to drive that vehicle so they couldn't settle the claim. Its been going on for a year now. Thanks again chaps. No way would I dedicate so much time to anything else atm. -

Im not paying 2grand when I was only paying 14 hundred before. Tighter than the bolts on a submarine they tell me Tiny7. lol Wish I was insured properly, need to find new ground and do some camping throughout summer. -

Good write up Nottz, another late start because I didn't finish work till 10 so we didn't start lamping until after half 2. It was pitch black and the wind was strong with a little rain now and then, absolutely perfect. All the dogs did us proud again, you couldn't ask for a better rabbiting bitch than Lass. She just makes it look so easy and fun. She would run all day and still be bouncing at the end whipping her tail about. Poor old fly did me proud once again and she had some gruelling runs. Up and down the stone walls, great sport. I wasn't surprised by Tysons ability but nice retrieve fro -
hopefully find some trout spots myself and do a bit of camping aswell.

FERRETBOY replied to nottzhunter08's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Taking her daytime tomorrow for a couple runs and then she will get 2 days off. Shes now 52lb, shame its the end of the season nearly and probably fly's last season. Im just glad she still in good health and capable of catching. Yes mate I wont slip her when dukes running. I pray to god we hit numbers this time round. -

very expensive but worth it when you can get your dog at the numbers and have a great night. I would rather spend £40 doing this between 3 of us than the same on a few drinks down the town. Thanks for the replies guys. Hopefully get the same amount next week. -
Well done again Jim and Arron. I wouldn't mind going ferreting up them ways before the seasons done. What do you get up to when its not season? I wouldn't mind going shooting feather, pigeons etc. Teach my pup how to find and retrieve shot birds and get plenty of free meat.

24 Hour Car Isurance Best Get Some In The Bag
FERRETBOY replied to nottzhunter08's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Is jeff getting a lamp Brandon? I don't mind not having one but on this occasion I just needed a hand to find the rabbit but you had no idea I lost the rabbit and I cant blame you for wanting to find more runs. I wouldn't get good runs on film if I had a lamp either. Fly's not bad for nearly 8. Next time if we see the numbers I believe shes still got plenty left in her and I think she would catch more. I was giving her stupid slips trying to make chances from nothing so next time I would have to be a little more picky to get the best from her. I do wish she had the enthusiasm to run the ra -
24 Hour Car Isurance Best Get Some In The Bag

Heres a video clip of each dog making a catch. It was a very expensive night out costing £ with £40 insurance and same again on petrol. We wasted far to much time trying to find ground, we ended up passes ground I remembered lamping before but when we checked their wasn't anything to run. Seems like the regulars have hammered these places but the conditions were against us. With 4 hours driving and we had only 1 rabbit. We hyped the trip up so much and it looked as though we were going to look like prats. So we travelled back on ourselves to try find ground the other two had lamped previou -
Great read up that wales and vin and nice vids as well. Lovely hound and nice retrieve. Sounds like a fantastic trip all round.

well done dude, looks like a banging day and nice pics aswell. Im glad to see duke has added another rabbit to his tally.

Looks like a sloughi cross to me nice chest on her. Well done that pup lets hope it doesn't make her hard mouthed.

Had a good morning bolting to the dogs again. Old Fly caught well and my pup marked like a pro, even after bolting one rabbit. She returned to one hole, I entered the ferret again through the same hole and another bolted. I really prefer this type of hunting now, to laying nets. You might catch less but its better sport and enough escape to breed for next year. Place I went to yesterday has a healthy population and I think its down to not hitting it hard with nets. Follow my blog for up to date write ups.

I have been lucky to be getting out with some local lads that drive. Just kills me relying on lifts, last night i went lamping and managed a handful of long runs for dogs which were mostly double up but that made no difference and then the snow came. So we blanked but dogs had some good exercise Then i was out ferreting today with somebody else, spot on day bolting to dogs and managed 3 rabbits. Put two young ones back. Then my pup retrieved a hare, so im over the moon with her. Things could be worst.

cheers guys.
