[quote name='longdogrunner' date='Nov 16 2008, 02:47 PM' post='763413 I didnt think that was one of first fights, i thought it was his return after he had to give up the heavyweight title from a bike accident, they thought he'd just walk in and take his title back, but our Ian saw to that little plan!!!! Your wrong it was a long time before that mate, mir fought freeman in 2002 if i remember right...your thinking of his first fight back against the brazilian cant think of his name now. Joe ox some things are not as simple as they seem,he was a young prospect yes and he made no exc

Could tell you a few things about that fight but it would sound like excuses being made for mir...what i will say is his stay in london was eventful to say the least !....it was one of his first ufc fights and he has come on a bundle since then....i see a fight with lesnar going the same way as the first.
-
Ive said it before and had the pee taken out of me...but i still think frank mir can beat all the top heavyweights....with these big heavyweights one lucky punch can change everything, but when you have something different like mir has he is setting out with a specific task and luck doesnt come into it.....he is also a very big strong guy, whether he can ever have the conditioning is a big question mark....but mir is the only one i see beating lesnar at the moment. Lesnar has made it interesting again though thats for sure.
-
I dont think arlovski would stand a chance with lesnar....i actually think lesnars inexperience works in his favour because he simply uses his brute core power instead of trying to do anything too clever....i thought he could have come out more aggressive with couture and wiped him out much sooner..... I like bj penn he,s a class act and that florian is too arse licky for me wants to be such a nice guy....good fighter mind you but not sure he could handle a peak bj penn.

Couture- Lesnar went pretty much as i thought it would...i had a feeling couture would try to outlast him by holding him up against the cage and try to let lesnar use up explosive energy and come on in the later rounds....im amazed the referee didnt break them up a few times.....lesnar caught him with a hard punch right at the start of the second that stiffened coutures legs and he never got over that punch meaning the clip he caught him with towards the end had more effect...lesnar is an unbelievable physical specimen, the only person i see beating him is Mir again as long as he can get him to

For the sake of the sport id like to see couture win lesnar being an ex soppy boys wrestler and all...however,lesnar tapped to mir from a submission, apart from that i think lesnar would have powered through him.......couture doesnt have submission skills and what with him being a relatively small heavyweight and lesnar being a monster im predicting a first round stoppage win for lesnar......size and strength isnt everything we know that, but lesnar is a freakishly strong and athletic guy for such a big man.....i hope he doesnt but i can see couture getting hurt in this fight.....if it does go p

...might of known it would be poor old franks fault......reading your posts i get the feeling you have a teeny bit of ill feeling for him ! zap....collins had pretty much retired by the time calzaghe reached world title level.
-
You may be right mate he may well have beaten them in their prime, personally i dont think he could have beaten a prime jones but thats just opinions...no way is calzaghe 4-6 years past his prime,he is stronger, fitter and busier than he has ever been before, his punch stats ( 1000 odd ) per fight also prove this.As for eubank being as good and tough as any fighter who ever got in the ring, believe me mate im a big eubank fan,but there can be no denying he was finished when calzaghe met him,he had 2 fights in the next year after the calzaghe fight lost them both to an average carl thompson and pac

The boy done good and fought the perfect fight tactically....joe has a way to win fights and its very effective if not particularly stylish and can simply overwhelm opponents with unbelievable fitness and workrate.... The niggling thing for me is the same as the fella above said....would this have been the same outcome had calzaghe fought both hopkins and jones when they was in anything near their prime....i wouldnt say calzaghe is too far past his peak even at 36,his punch stats prove this...but jones was a shell of the fighter he once was and this fight doesnt prove joe is the best of his g

[quote name='dennned' date='Nov 8 2008, 11:39 AM' post='750799' yes , gnasher to a certain degree you are right , but as a champion dont you think , joe , has the right to have the fights at home , those yanks , for years have had it all there own way ,by having the fights on there , doorsteps , so as to have judges , refs , on there side , now im not saying theres any cheating going on , but the american judges are a peculiar lot, as for the fight itself , i think joe will have far to much of a fitness level for jones , being a superb athlete ,joe's workrate is immense , however , jones

The reason these fights didnt take place were because calzaghe being champion felt they should come to wales to fight him....he priced himself out of the fights and demanded that being champion big name yanks go over to unknown ( on world boxing terms ) wales to fight.....its just not going to happen.....only now he is at the end of his career and these big name yanks are just that big names and nowhere near as dangerous opponents as they once was is joe going over there to fight them......as for these people saying calzaghe is past his best as well...yes he probably is slightly, but he has nev

Wouldnt say i know anymore than the next man.......but im going to stick my neck out with this one and say i think joes going to get knocked out !...i hope im wrong as id love to see him leave the game with an unbeaten record. I just think that the boxing game has a strange way of showing the truth and the truth is calzaghe should have fought both jones and hopkins in their prime...but managed to evade them both and has got them both right at the end of their careers.... Style wise i think depending how much jones has left he could make joe look a fool he is a pinpoint puncher with decent po

Every case is different but its worth keeping in mind parvo is an airborn disease....bleach wont do no harm but it might not be enough....id burn anything wood including wooden framed runs/boxes etc...depending what lengths you want to go to,when you think the coast is clear have a soil sample done to be sure....its not cheap but neither is replacing dead pups !...good luck.

Line Breeding Explained
gnasher16 replied to labsnlurchers's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Think your missing the point mate.....when you have 2 dogs in front of you whos parents and ancestry you know and have researched the good and bad....and you have decent basic knowledge of genetics and breeding techniques....you stand a lot more chance of producing good animals than a man who has learned about breeding from books. Put it this way id rather a builder build me a house than an architect !....hopefully you get where im coming from. -
Line Breeding Explained
gnasher16 replied to labsnlurchers's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
I wouldnt worry mate.....all the scientific jargon sounds impressive if you havent read it all before, but in reality it has little bearing on the dogs you breed in front of you.....what folk seem to forget is that nobody could ever be totally sure on any breeding they do....we are talking about genes in the millions not stacking ten in a row and hoping they hit or miss......the best a man breeding for performance can do is get a basic understanding of genetics, research his peds and the make up of his dogs and then breed best to best within that strain or outcross as he sees fit....anything els -
Line Breeding Explained
gnasher16 replied to labsnlurchers's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Thats exactly my point.....see we was in agreement all along like i said,it cant be stressed enough how important the selection process is when breeding related dogs....we only select dogs for breeding who we consider to have picked up good traits, and not picked up bad....this doesnt matter when the dogs have no common ancestry because how can genes repeat if they are not shared. The trees example was good, but remember that also works the same for desirable traits as well whether you use inbred or linebred individuals to shape your bloodline....they are both to be used as tools....selectio -
Line Breeding Explained
gnasher16 replied to labsnlurchers's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
With respect...you havent told me anything i havent already read myself....and i did say READ because thats all it is a read.....i say again, the real life results of breeding dogs can and is very different from what the text books say......all the long words in the world wont change that.....there are literally thousands of examples to put all that theory to ruin happening every day....yes of course there are breeding ideals and scientific fact...but nature behaves how it wants to sometimes all we can do is give it a helping hand by putting the odds in our favour..... I have shared views and -
Cant work out whether this thread is a wind up or not......its like saying if a white woman has a kid with a black man and then later in life has a child with a white man the child may come out black ! ....please say its a wind up.

Line Breeding Explained
gnasher16 replied to labsnlurchers's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Anything to do with breeding gets my attention, what id ask you labslurcher, is are you stating your opinion or what you consider to be fact ?....one thing ive learned over many years learning myself and from others is that nature often makes light of what we think are facts.....i agree with most of what you say IN THEORY....but the truth is theory very rarely works in reality......i imagine your a very educated guy, either that or you have been reading too many science books ....i am not educated and the amount of books ive read i can count on one hand.....but what i do know is when it comes -
Nothing wrong with boys fighting its perfectly natural and a part of growing up every generation has done it our parents grand parents and so on.....schools fight other schools...areas fight other areas its the most natural thing of any boys development....unfortunately in todays society we have these dogooding fairies who want boys to play computer games all day or tend to their skin, gel their hair and work on their feminine side which is why lads grow up these days with such a pathetically weak outlook on life in general....of course the problem comes when you start hearing of all this girly

....and if he dares crack you back in the middle of that little lot ?.....whats with all this biting and scratching bollocks with kids these days......aint they got no pride in the way they do things we would have had our mates rip the piss out of us had we bit someone years ago.
-
Well its simple mathematics then innit....get 5 mates together, problem solved !

I know im a moaning old cxxt sometimes but what on earth is the world coming to !...whatever happened to lads fighting each other for fun and learning from each other......when we was young we would go 100 % on each other friends or not just to learn what we was doing....nowadays it seems kids stand about talking about it yet when it comes to it they dont know what to do !......my advice would be if your a fighting sort of lad then do what works....if not, stay indoors and phone the plods. A direct correctly thrown punch to the upper middle chest or throat is no fun to recieve ....hard to d

Wouldnt say im an expert either bill.....did a fair bit as a younger chap and as you know you never lose the interest or passion......and yes ive seen plenty of khans come and go some made it some didnt....hamed was a khan in his early stage and he made it...benn the same....some dont and we forget them maybe khan himself will fall into this bracket.....personally i dont think he will.......if he becomes technically proficient and more than just the delivery of punches he can do what other chinny fighters have done......like myself you must have seen plenty of top level fighters over the years

But hearns only moved up to light heavy in his quest for 5 world titles...it was nowhere near his natural weight....now personally i wouldnt put andries, virgil hill or barklay in the same league as leonard, hagler etc...yet these were probably his 3 most important fights at light heavy 1 of which he lost the other 2 he won by the skin of his teeth....you cant seriously think that tommy hearns had anything less than a very brittle chin.....the punch hagler caught him with that put him down barely touched him...but being glass chinned it had enough effect....same as the roldan fight he was caught
