I think there was a part of Bugner that played off the whole villain role much like Eubank did later on.....he knew he wasnt liked but was good enough to let his hands do the talking in most cases....he always came across with a bit of attitude kind of like " if you cant join them beat them " mentality. I didnt realise his entire career spanned over 30 years !!....amazing.

Brought a bit of a tear to my eye this,i lost somebody last year who i used to love playing chess with we would have games that went on for literally weeks,every time i visited we would take a couple of moves each then the board would be left in the corner for next time....lovely memories. Im in the process of teaching my Grandson at the moment i love the game it was a big thing on the estates we grew up on as kids kind of brought the generations together.

It all stems from the internet......once the Gyppo's saw their was a couple of quid to be made from selling video's of their normal everyday stand ups other people have jumped in and now theres become a little cult following of odd little no marks fascinated by watching 2 every day low level fighters have back and forth arguments resulting in a fight......we used to be having straighteners for money every other week to settle differences nobody ever thought to film it as nobody thought anybody else gave a flying bollock !!....its a strange world we now live in.

I know years ago a lot of Northern or Midlands footie mobs would drive down the M1 to Chesham,park up and get on the Metropolitan Line which will take you right into the heart of London i think it used to end up at either Liverpool St or Aldgate. Birmingham to Chesham is what 2 hours,then half hour/40 mins on the tube.

Im not sure this protest will get as many people as folk think......maybe it was the only available date but its asking a lot from football lads with a day of fixtures like this ! Thats back when amateur boxing was still real fighting but with vests on As i remember Bobby beat Gary Mason in the South East Divs just before getting wiped out by a young Lennox Lewis in an England v Canada tournament. You being an older chap Jukel you might even remember Bobby's father Billy who medalled at the Mexico Olympics in 68 he boxed for Lynn and won at least 2 aba titles,we used to laugh about it as we both had fathers who were better fighters than us ....amateur boxing just seemed so much more competitive back then or maybe its just me reminiscing.

Dont know if you've ever watched that Cooper/Bugner fight but i remember watching it years ago thinking it was a close fight that could have gone either way yet Harry Carpenters commentary made it sound like a total robbery.....as you say Cooper was the nations darling. He might not be known by many but was really sad to hear about the death of Bobby Wells yesterday,Bobby was a good amateur back in the eighties i cant remember if it was a bronze or silver he won at the Los Angeles Olympics he lost to Francesco Damiani who went on to win a world title in the pros.....i sparred loads with Bobby as youngsters with a couple of other lads Dave Odwell who was one of the best amateurs i ever saw we all travelled around America together as young lads visiting different gyms Bobby was a good lad to be around i dont think he went far in the pros only had a handful of f

Ive just spent a bit of time in Ireland and in all honesty i just cant believe how much its changed.....visited a couple of old dog pals whos's places i havent been to in close to 20 years one just outside Dublin the other about 100 miles to the West....i was shocked,i enjoyed my times in Ireland years ago always found it a peaceful and pleasant place to be but no more,i couldnt wait to get home truth be told.....seems like nowhere in Europe has escaped the invasion of third world shit, i fully expected it in Dublin itself but not in near every other town we went through it saddened me in many
