  1. Hello mate and welcome to the site, pre ban refers to before the hunting act came into force in england making it illegal to hunt most forms of quarry with dogs. The main exemptions are rats and rabbits.
  2. I hope there is a few more around as i hardly ever see them, i see otters more as there is at least 3 breeding pairs on the stretch of river i fish. Stoats are rare around here, i've seen 4 but i've never seen a weasel and the nearest shoot is over 3 miles away so they won't do any harm except the farmers chickens but if that happens i'll have to deal with them
  3. Sorry stealthy1 but i'm only on the net with my mobile as i need a motherboard for my pc. As soon as my pc is running again i will put some pictures up. I even got a couple of pictures of the otter the farmer said there was a pair on his stretch but it's partner wasn't about this morning
  4. I've just getting in after a couple of hours out on my new farm and i've getting 5 rabbits, 8 pigeons, 3 crows and a grey squirrel. I seen 2 stoats but as they aren't that common i didn't shoot them plus i like watching them out and about. I also seen a otter which really made my morning. When i got back to the farmhouse and having a cup of tea with the farmer he told me a couple of his friends might have some permisson for me although one doesn't like dogs on his land, so my sport for 09 should be good.
  5. Don't worry i wouldn't shoot any foxes with a airgun, i was supposed to take my mates lurchers but the oldest one's face is swollen after getting bit off 2 foxes on friday night. I've been up today and found 5 setts so we'll be taking the terriers and my friends shotguns up to thin them out a bit and gandalf i'm getting a new camera for xmas so i'll get some pictures of live animals not just dead ones
  6. I got my supersport carbine .177 on thursday, zeroed it today and just been out on some new land i've just got. I got 3 rabbits on the track to the farm house, when we pulled up the farmer asked us to check in the barn for ferals, rats and mice. We went in and got 7 ferals and 4 rats. We left the farmer and had a shine around the fields and we got another 20 rabbits, i was surprised we didn't see any foxes about as the farmer reckons there is quite a few about. So i've had a good night with 23 rabbits, 7 ferals and 4 rats to my new gun
  7. Hello and welcome to the site, 3 nice looking dogs you've got there
  8. Hello tony and welcome to the site

    what we hunt

All native wildlife is a joy to see but i have a soft spot for the red squirrel and otters, at one of my early morning fishing spots a young red squirrel used to come down and tease my old 2 lurchers by coming out the tree so they could see it then run back up out of reach of them and it would keep doing it till i went home or moved to a different spot
  10. With a moderator on the muzzle crack should be significantly reduced but i've never put one on a 99, it shouldn't be too difficult though
  11. Nice shot mate, i've had 15 this year with my rabbitstopper and 10 with the hw100. I've been bit off 1 that wasn't dead outright but it did after it bit me
  12. I've just received your e-mail. I'll be in touch when i have posted it mate
  13. p.m. your address and i'll send you it
  14. It muffled the sound alot at 15 yards you could only here the pellet hitting the target, it didn't seem to slow the pellet down too much as my furthest kill with it on was a 48 yard head shot on a rabbit. I'd give it to you for nothing as my supersport made way for my hw100
  15. I have a spare volumetric silencer off a supersport if your interested
  16. One of my friends uses a doberman for lamping and ferreting and its caught quite a few, it's a reliable marker as well, better than some of the lurchers and terriers i've seen marking
  17. You've got a nice bit of land there, it's like a bit of land i've got.
  18. Nice shot mate, i'm out tomorrow with the hw100
  19. I normally go for the back or chest, i've only ever had a couple of head shots
  20. When i used to run lurchers i used to get pulled all the time, the best was up at jedburgh and when they asked what we were doing i said making a video they told us to turn round and go back 50 miles to make a video. I've also been out and getting chased back to the car i jumped in the boot with the lurchers, eventually the police pulled the car over and when they checked the car they jumped a mile when they seen me in the boot cuddling in to the dogs. They must of thought i was a dead body
  21. Pidgeons, crows and magpies although pidgeons are my favourite of all the quarry species
  22. Good luck, i was supposed to be out tonight but its been raining all day
  23. Let the lurcher see them in the hutch first then introduce them to him. Let them run through a couple of rabbit sets and if any bolt the lurcher should chase them and he should see them as allies rather than something else to kill. Just hope the ferrets don't nip him as that will almost certainly make him kill them. Good luck mate
  24. With him being used for ratting he should have a good nose for bushing and if he's seen quarry going to ground then his instincts should make him follow, i know someone who's pure border didn't start working properly till it was 5 then it became a top working terrier
  25. Hello and welcome to the site mate
