  1. He's done well getting her to take a duck, I failed in my mission to take a duck by the end of the season, the pressures of work meant I had to put the bird down to moult a couple of weeks before I wanted to. Good luck to him.
  2. Whats the bird in the photos, the second pic is a cracker, I used to do a bit of work at a site at Eye near Diss lovely countryside down there.
  3. Anyone would look smooth standing next to Eddie Hare, I found one with me and the bird last season. I'd be up for a field meet too as long as it wasn't to far down that south.
  4. I'm the good looking one on the right.
  5. No not yet, we're having trouble finding decent earths, most are living the gorse.
  6. Out tonight with Thurso Jack and his JRT's and me Patt, ratting with the lamp, desipte only half a dozen in the hour, what excellent sport we had. The dogs worked nicely, we had to dig Thurso's bitch Tara out of a wood pile as she was marking a nest and wouldn't come out. He'll probably tell you how she came out top dog but its the small things like his lamp dying first and him losing his fags that make the night worth while. Excellent fun, heres some shite pic's...
  7. There plenty of those about, the one that got away.... Poaching....., no one owns a wild animal mate til its in the bag.
  8. Out today trying for the elusive duck, on route to wet ground the bird was flying out ahead as usual when he dropped behind a bush, there was a lot of thrashing around and I got sight of some light brown wings as I approached and thought excellent a hen pheasant, as I got closer a buzzard took off from behind the bush, I'm then thinking shite whats gone on here, got myself round the bush to see my fella sit proudly on a live bunny (with slightly chewed ears) now thats what I call a mugging. Dispatched and bagged the rabbit but does it count to his season total??? We went on to get one more ra
  9. Good to see you again mate, he looks likes he's coming on, nicely muscled now.
  10. :friends: you won't be so nice when your JRT is getting spanked at the rats by the black dog.
  11. Well done mate, you better leave some rabbits up there for me, I'll be snaring them fence lines next week. See ya Friday :clapping:
  12. is that possible? The Game Conservancy Trust says the snipe population has declined by about 62% over the past 20 years, well I probably put up a dozen every time I'm out, the harris doesn't even flinch when they rise anymore and I've often thought it would be good sport with a spar. Maybe one day I'll find out for myself.
  13. This is my nearly completed secound knife, a small pocket skinner, the blade is a Lauri PT 63mm, silver nickel bolster and ebony handle.
  14. Well done for killing the freak rabbit, he's a scarey looking mother.
  15. Heron!! and I thought my fella had eyes bigger than his stomach, would you believe me if told you he flushed a pair of roe deer from some rushes a couple of weeks ago?
  16. Nice one Thurso, wish I'd been there could have doubled that bag at least, nice ratting dog by the way.
  17. Took the bird for a fly this morning, he was a bit high today as I fed him a rabbit head yesterday so wasn't expecting much action, went to a local quarry. The bird had been up for only a couple of minutes soaring on the up draft, when he dropped down towards a flooded bit, I heard a splash and legged it over, he had taken a moorhen and had swam to the far bank which was sheer rock cover in gorse bushes so no access from that side. The pool was only about 10 ft wide so in I go, up to my balls in freezing stinking water, then realized I had my camera, car keys, telemetry etc, had to retreat and
  18. Well done mate, handy for cleaning etc in the evening.
  19. Its probably food association if you're doing jump ups in or around the aviary, I don't think there's many silent harris' around. My fella squawks when he see's me but is quiet as soon as he's in the travel box and he's quiet in the field, could also just be excitement.
  20. Whats that 2 million candle power?
  21. I'm pretty lucky I've never seen a squirrel around here.
  22. You can take your pick really from any of the gun dog breeds, there's a fella on here uses a GSD, I know someone who uses terriers, and I've heard of dachshunds being used in the states.
