  1. Happy Christmas Jok and a fruitful New Year lol.
  2. Great write up and pics U what a varied day Jess is a very versatile little dog you have there I remember one post you put up she was climbing trees lol, I'm looking forward to getting out with my new SxS next week some good eating you have there for the festivities coming up have a good one.
  3. Tomatoes have to be fresh tomatoes cut in half or quarters and fried and if any Cafe decides to put tinned ones on your plate making everything soggy walk out, I also agree with the Yorkshire Gold in the correct receptacle.
  4. I use Remington always have done and I recently purchased some for 12.99 a box of 50 and during the period where there was split cases and squib shots I have never encountered any problems so far.
  5. Melpti why don't you get a slot on your ticket for both that way if you don't like one you can opt for the other they are both good calibres for small game but it's what you prefer, as said before you need to try them both out I did just that myself years ago and opted for the .17 but definitely wouldn't rule out a 22 I'm just extremely patient with my shots and always strive for a head shot other wise body shot and it looks like a burst settee rubbish for eating.
  6. Nice one U good bit of hunting there ? .
  7. Quiet an interesting discussion this turned out to be funny because the original poster seems to have evaporated Melpti if your out there was that enough info lol.
  8. You could always go down this road ?
  9. I suppose if I shot birds from tree boughs it wouldn't miss but when I've disturbed a pheasant from cover and took a shot with it no chance powerful little thing with a kick as well, I looked into the history of it and it was a gunsmith in Braintree Essex who was known as Mr Braintree he was the Mayor butcher Gunsmith etc his surname was Bartram I believe going back the best part of a hundred years, funny the things you acquire.
  10. I've got an old .410 poachers gun with a folding stock and I can honestly say I haven't hit a barn door with it it's useless I keep it because I like the look of it and it's old.
  11. My old man f****d off when I was five I'm 53 now my youngest son tracked him down to Liverpool indisputable proof it was him I wrote a lengthy letter went to post it then thought bollocks to him I don't need the grief my wife and two lads are all I need. My advise is tip him bollocks but what ever any one says on here you will go with your gut.
  12. Nice one GL looks great as per usual congratulations on reaching the ton great fortitude in this weather as well it's only just been hovering above freezing.
  13. These bunnies were were shot with my CZ .17 if you hit them in the head they don't resemble Road kill but a body shot I get where Meece is coming from I've owned mine for 8 years from new I love it they fire very flat and accurate but the ammo is more expensive than the .22 and they are loud even with a silencer as they shoot a lot faster than the .22 my advise try both before you commit to buying either.

    Snow.

The bloke on the left is a white walker and the bloke on the right is Jon Snow they mess with other people's Dragons lol Its a Game of thrones thing you either get it or you don't.
  15. It's a No 4 ejector 26" barrels double trigger I think I picked up the yeoman bit by doing a lot of research on them yeoman kept popping up and it stuck in my mind I was looking at the 20 bore nice guns.
  16. I've been after a decent side by side for a while picked this up this evening AYA Yeoman no 4 it's in tip top condition the barrels were like glass well chuffed now got to get a day off to try it out.
  17. Joe my advise is if you have a local hunt turn up introduce yourself be sensible get accepted and I can guarantee the invites will flow from ratting ferreting shooting beating and in some but not all cases a bit of digging that way you have laid nothing out and you will then see what suits you best when it comes to hunting best of luck.
  18. Every time I click one of your posts I have to run out in the kitchen and make something to eat lol that looks amazing the way the light is shining off the yolk and the tomatoes work of food art.
  19. Nothing like a publisher or any experience in that field but I appreciate good well prepared food when I see it, my first job as a teenager was a commis chef in a good English restaurant in London called the Baron of Beef where everything was made from scratch we served a lot of game and preparation was a major part of the eating, I work on the Railways now so a big difference. I make my own cider I have dabbled in Beers and wine but I always default back to cider. I have read the lot it's great look forward to more thanks again for the post.
  20. 17Hornet this is a great post showing the simplest ways are the best but the skills that are being displayed can only be passed on from generation to generation thanks for the post it's worthy of a book.
  21. Nice one Jok that was ages ago near the top of Black Mountain in Wales heading down into Swansea before the Welsh Game fair I was busting for a piss and my Mrs took a photo and the rest is history lol.
  22. Eggs look really good I can tell they weren't dropped in water which I can't stand, a proper poacher looks like it was used there I usually grease the plastic pots with butter and gently simmer with not too much water in the pan with a see through lid on and then give them a little shake and they come out spot on nice looking food.
  23. One that I really like is Birdsong Sebastian Faulks if you haven't read it give it a go, I normally go for autobiographys of people I like, Clarissa Dickson Wrights spilling the beans is exceptional I also learnt by reading that book was that her father was the Queens Surgeon.
  24. That looks very familiar to me would that be the Wetherspoons Red Lion at Gatwick North terminal I have the eggs Benedict every time it's lovely washed down with a pint or two of Doom Bar.
