  1. I'm glad the prices are the way they are in Denmark. I don't know about hunting ferrets here in denmark if they are cheaper, maybe they are.
  2. pictures of a black ferret. This ferret is from a black line, its inbred. a black pup, you can really see the difference here as wild pups are still pink (can be a little grayish) but this ferret has very dark skin, the skin becomes slightly lighter though the years: original links: http://www.tunderkennel.hu/image.php?img=423 , http://www.tunderkennel.hu/image.php?img=470 and a wild born polecat: a polecat can be darker but its never as dark as a true black ferret. A black ferret has the same black colour all over the body and a polecat does not. many black fer
  3. The black ferret is darker that the wild polecat. even though a polecat can be very dark. The black colour has been bred though by man and still is. I'll post a couple of pictures as soon as I get the premissiom of the poeple with the copyright.
  4. I wasn't knocking it, I've just never heard it before! I know, just wantet to explain why I guess we consider ferrets more like dogs in that way.
  5. Yes pedigree ferrets. The one I'm getting in holland has a great pedigree and t from a very good line. Due to fancy colour breeding as I wrote the ferret health is VERY bad here and breeding n pedigree ferrets is a wy to control the breeding and make health better and age higher. I don't think you have the same health problems so I guess thats why you dont use pedigrees. I will not breed on a ferret without knowing what I'm dealing with, i don't want to put more ferrets in the world who are deaf or die from cancer at the age of a year.... thats reality here, we have to deal with it an
  6. Right i will start breeding them we can split the cash lol Im working on a mink/stoat cross at the momment Well I'm more for the ferret/seagal cross, flying and everything, but I guess the mink/stoat can sell if you can get in in a fancy colour, like maybe deep orange
  7. in denmark a ferretpup in a petstores is £100 at least! buy it from a breeder and its £150-200, more if it's for breeding. I'm going to Holland next weekend for a ferret, shes £120 and thats cheap for a breeding ferret as good as her. your prices are extremely low when compared to ours, maybe because ferrets are more common and we keep them diffrently. It's also relatively easy to find good homes for ferrets here. Here many people are also willing to pay extra for a ferret with a pedigree as ferrets health is incredible bad here, mostly bacause of bad breeding, we have had a couple
  8. dragging each other by the nack is a way of domination. It's only natural for ferrets in both sexes. They just want to show the new one whos in charge.
  9. actually black ferrets are very modern by now in the "pet-world". They have quite a few in germany and also some in denmark where I'm from. We have a couple of 'black reeders' in denmark, I'm not sure if it's ok for me to link here but if interested then ask me and I'll send a link in private. All black ferrets can be traced back to the same man... Pernonally I'm all for health and not that much for breeding certain colours. But I've seen a couple of true black ferrets (and still prefere sable)
  10. Please mail them to Denmark, I'll teach them not to bite (and keep them) very very lovely pups!! Looks healthy
  11. It sounds as if they are a bit afraid? If thats true then please stop punishing them! If they are afraid you need to take them in your hands and just handle way without putting them down when biting. you can put some oil og paste on your figers and let them lick it off to learn that your hands are not evil. Make sure that they have a lot of space and time for playing, that will make happy pups. Als you sometimes nedd to sit down when they play and let them come to you, let them decide when to get picked up. Never punish a ferret which bites of fear! If they are just being pups at
  12. We don't use the amarican definations in denmark. We only have: sable (from very dark to very light) sandy albino silver black thats it, blaze, panda, mitts etc goes as markings. So I'm not always sure about colours like royal orange, chololate (never heard about copper) because we simply don't use those definitions, and I'm glad we don't, must be a jungle sometimes
  13. after danish definations its most certainly a sandy. No doubt about it.
  14. A silver with mitts and bib. You can find quite a few if you search in here I think. And you dont have to know every colour to be a great ferret owner. I for one know every colour used in denmark but we don't always have the same definitions as you have. what is poley? edit: nevermind, Julia just told me it's sable (poley=polecat?)
  15. you can feed them meat by the time they'll eat it (around 3 weeks as maltenby writes) But make sure that it has got a high percent of fat and if you chop it up then don't make the pieces to big, then can choke in it, I know a person who lost a pup that way this year and another pup dies because they got a lot of meat but no calcium and fat and got rickets.
  16. I'm not much for nosetapping. I always say a strich AHAH or NO when bitten. If a ferret needs more than that you can hold it in the scruff of the neck when saying NO (support it with the other hand or hold it gently against the floor) I like this method because it is simular to the way ferrets work things out themselves and so far it has worked for me. If the ferrets are biting from fear then gentle handeling is the way, no punishment. Good luck
  17. Well a bright purple ferret? That must be very easy to find, maybe the new fashion in hunting ferrets (who said fancy breeding?)
  18. both of the Jills are adorable! And the hob isn't bad looking either.
  19. I have the warning sign too, I guess it's something in every profile that nobody else can see? and 0% that got to be good.
  20. Thanks all. The One: glad you like Sif, I think she is good looking but she always do badly in shows, maybe because she misbehaves? Julia: Glad you still like them even though Sif broke your kitchen last time
  21. nice puctures, and nice little pups
  22. just a few pictures of my little carpet sharks. Lille My, my first ferret from 2005, got her as a pup, little bugger she was! Puk, my second ferret, shes from 2004 and from a danish hunting line. nicest ferret I ever met, would not dream of biting and just loves everyone and everything. Not always as smart though... Sif. From 2006, I got her last year as her previous owners had to sell her. She's her own boss and does what she feels like no matter what I think of it . all 3 of them together and comming up from Holland in a few weeks, also from a hunting line: M
  23. She looks good the little one
