Market For Pheasant Chicks And Poults
devon flighter replied to Rabid's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
One of the comments we used to get on a weekly basis were just how hardy our poults were, and how they had never known birds to fly so well, to this day I don't know what we were doing that made them so special, but some of the toughest keepers we supplied gave us praise, and by all accounts they never gave praise to anyone for anything, so guess we were doing something right. Thanks for your input crosshair : agree with al, the comments you make rabid : quality will always win long term in that game at the end of the day "though there could be some long days initially !" same here ,could always tell what guys were using when we had a walk around a lake due to the smell wouldnt tell you fek all but the scent gave them away ! mind when we first started using the hair rig and bolt rig in the early 80's i think ! it was a revelation to catch rates , mind one day hooking and landing 9 doubles which in them days was almost unheard of ! yep another classic for me as well ! usually died different colours

good luck with the rest ! i must try and get some more pics of mine up , not having a brilliant season hatch wise compared to last but slowly building up a bit of stock to work with.

got to admit i loved my hornet but boy could the 25 do the business ! "ok perhaps a bit of overkill on bunnies " but didnt half trick a few crows at long range with it

they call it progress ! i used to carp fish in the late 70's early 80's yes kitykat trout pellets and curry powder, just the start of hp baits ,used to fish pea nut ,corm and home made boilies but now it seems standard just to buy baits ,is it just lazyness or wanting instant results with little personal input ? one for flako (or anyone else for that matter); is pool hall still a carp water ?

I always think theres a reason sue lives in the middle of the boonies alone,i think she would be an extremely hard woman to live with for the average guy. That tattoo on the ladies face that looks like she runs her chin over a barcode scanner apparently has cultural significance, she does all the shooting as her husband cant due to her indiginous peoples status, its a good program to watch but as you said better without sue and her running commentary about all the predators that would like to dine on her,her two fox are interesting. thought that might be the case !

aint it funny how you visualise folks you have never met? none of them ever turn out how i expect !

were having a bit of a re shuffle in the garden and have a trio and a pair of oegb's FOC FOR COLLECTION if any one wants them ,the pair are in an arc aprox 6x3 and the trio are in a coup/run 6x4 the trio are furness and the pair are a brassy backed lemon blue and a black hen all last years birds or late previous year and proven broodies , would need collecting soon as were having a dyke rebuilt over the next 3 weeks and they ideally need gone before ,both are transportable in a trailer of large van and not really sectional, are well built and no rot ,you would also need help moving them as im

i though that about the shot placements on a few of them , the wife said the other night when they were shooting the caribou swimming ,about it (she does not shoot but knows the ethics etc) but suppose that they are as they say sustenance hunting and we are sporting shooting ,in all fairness i recon if your life depended on getting meat to eat it would be different ,also noticed they dont eat much green stuff seem to live on meat/fish ,the other night the hailstones i think said 1 caribour lasted the family 2 weeks

dont use plum brown !!!!!! if your going to do it do it right ,its a long slow process, the more time you spend on it the better its going to turn out ,PREP IS EVERYTHING get it as good as you think necessary then get it better !ill have a look later and try and find a brew out for you ! looks a nice job you did there graham edited to say thats the stuff graham has used, by the time you buy the chemicals yourself you might as well use that slow brown -
could you do it yourself ? its not hard to do ! plus it would save you loads ,ive heard recently that a decent glass and pillar bedding is around £250-300 now ,ive done all mine myself
