  1. nothing quite like a bit of sport in the snow ! it epitamises (if thats the right word) what fieldsports are about in my mind ,autumn ,winter and great surroundings ,
  2. about right there! i started shooting in 1980 and im fairly sure it was about around then as well .
  3. food of the gods non of that chemical shite in it ! no wonder im the size i am
  4. come on the spill the beans about the meat loaf ,we do something similar to the meat loaf with all the odds and ends of game at the end of the season ,layering homemade venison sausage meat in a bacon lined tin with all the bits of game cut into long strips and alternating layers with the sausage meat until the tin is full then when cooked leave to cool overnight whilst pressing the meat, sometimes we put in a row of eggs in the middle like a pork pie ! and serve it in the summer with a salad
  5. you cant just leave it at that jok !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,recipe at least required and ideally pics
  6. had coopers on my defender for about 4 years now and first class in anything ive had to tackle, nothing mental just the sort of thing most on here would need for their sport
  7. 100% agree .im not a running dog owner and never have been but its what started me off in all hunting field sports "i was invited to go out with a mate of a mate ferreting ,no nets just a whippet x ,i can remember that day's events 37 years back like it was this morning ! " its what gave me an interest in all working dogs and literally hours of enjoyment since with dogs THE OLDER I GET THE MORE I WANT TO GO BACK and enjoy the naturalness of this type of sport !there really is nothing like watching a dog work along side us , unfortunately now ive got the time to do it health is holding me back
  8. empty a bit of space will you bud ive tried to pm you
  9. thats what has impressed me most with the gwp "their prey drive" and the fact that they are 100% happy working any quarry , im not a running dog man by any means but i can see what they could bring to a cross as an all round dog
  10. mines quite partial to rolland as well ! amongst other things hes a bit like a 5 st pat though when he starts "no reverse "

yep same here ! get 2 a day most days in the workshop on 2 traps ,1 in the greenhouse on 1 trap, the loft is a nightmare !, little shites scampering about all night (got some bait up there) and they keep getting up under the bonnets of the motors ! i think its down to the wet weather were having as well ,
  12. thats what ive always used ,go easy with it though its easy to scorch the bark
  13. had a working border way back that started fitting at 6 years old got worse and worse very quickly ,its hard but do the right thing .
  14. Same as any other dog if their trained right then no. But I am talking about the pure breed here not the cross. As I have said many times the GWP is not for everyone. If you can be comfortable watching a dog do it's own thing in the distance and have total confidence that you can still have control over that dog, then they may be for you. However, if you feel that letting a dog work large is not for you, for whatever reason, then leave them well alone. TC spot on that ! you need to be comfortable with how THEY work and work with them they are definitely not a first dog though !!!!!! l
  15. cheers stevo , its a large fowl though ,just as well ,she has a bakers dozen under her ! ,tuzo how much brightness ? they are in a coup 1m x 0.75m and about .75m high would something like a 9w low energy be ok ?"i think thats about 40w in old money" in the coup (their feed and water is in the coup ,well thats what i did last summer anyway and thought about the same with this lot )
  16. cheers guys ,she has settled back on them fine after moving them this morning into some brooding quarters " a small ish coup in a sheltered and covered run" i put the heat lamp on this after but ill turn it off in morning ,i can always rig a normal bulb up in the holder when they hatch , how many hours should they have ? and does it need to be anything special brightness or is it just so they can see to eat so they keep the protein going in ? stevo "spring " ??????? ,not up here it aint !!!
  17. just a thought but if you had a broody available at this time of the year ,would you set some eggs under her ? and if so would you give her a heat lamp to help ?
