    Pet Fox!!

  3. When I first started reading that I thought you were on about it being your 9 year old dog that you took out for the first time ...............Never mind it is late! Glad to see your young one out and about with you though
  4. 1. Sorry to hear about the dog, 'tis a shame! 2. How do you know the lad is a smackhead and not just some one on his way to work?? 3. did the bike rider even see the dog? 6 in the morning is a very dark time of day!! 4. if the dog needs to run, then up and down the pavement isn't the best place in the world for it to do it, is it? 5. Could the dog not have been at fault for running into the bike? 6. I'm not jumping on the "put the dog on a lead" bandwagon, due to the fact that I never have my dogs on a lead in/around the house, in fact they all run loose most
  5. The best way to get the work you want for your dogs is to get out there and ask about, you may be at it all day and get no luck but someone will say yes eventually, especially for rats! Good luck anyway
  6. Your absolutely spot on there Joe mate
  7. :11: Well DC on our next visit to the "Pig Farm" the camera I will definately be taking, some of the scenes out there I now wish I had a photo of, especially when the 7 month old pup on her first outing got stuck in on a good size rat with one of the other dogs and then tried to carry it away with her, the rat was the size of a 3/4 grown rabbit and to see the little bitch struggling trying to carry something that was as big as her was a funny old sight!! We also do a bit of ratting for a keeper where the rats are also of a good size, but the rats at the "Pig Farm" take some beating

  10. I have began a little project of mine, where I am going to write a short story of any decent day's out I have from now on, be it ferreting, ratting, digging, or just a good day's mooching about! I am doing this mainly for the fact that I think it will be a laugh in years to come to read through them and remember them all! If I can get any pictures also that would be a bonus as we don't often take a camera with us, so the main thing will be the story. Plus I also hope to let my son read through them when he is a little older. Here is the first one of an ratting trip we took on Tuesday, see
  11. I've had a few rabbits run into things, was once lamping over an iron gate the dog in the field after the rabbit and me on the other side on the gate, anyway the rabbit headed straight for the gate, just missed my feet but hit the dogs slip lead which was dangling off of my wrist at such a force it wrapped around the rabbit and sent it into a state of shock  Another time was lamping a squaated rabbit, sent the dog for it, the dog put its head down ready to strike and BOUNCE!!...... The rabbit jumped about 3 foot into the air, spun 180 degrees and hit the floor running in the opposi
  12. hi nell, he is a pedigree, he's got good lines in him from the sire and dam. Nice dog all the same mate, all the best with him
  13. Nice young dog mate, is it a non pedigree whippet?
  14. Butler - forgive me, at first the comments you were making made you sound a little dodgy and could even be likened to the comments of an anti, and as usual I opened my gob before engaging my brain and maybe what I said was a little harsh, for that I apologise. Anyone on here that knows me will tell you i'm not such a prick all of the time (well most of it anyway :11: !!) Each individual have their own ways of entering young dogs and who is to say if they are right or wrong but I suppose we all have opinions, personally I do a similar thing as Poacher does and it works for me, but I also
  15. Are you right in your f*****g head mate? The dog is learning it's trade and getting bit is an occuaptional hazard, not unecessary by any stretch of the imagination! He'll get alot worse when he's bang at it! I would like to hear your ideas on how to bring on a young dog and what dogs you actually have etc. (NONE methinks ) Can someone not delete this clown's account????????? Sorry folks but comments from people like this wanker really piss me off Poacher - well done mate, a cracking day out by all accounts and well within the law, keep it up mate!!
  16. YES!!! Why would anyone want to spend 25 years breeding a type of dog to do a ferrets job?? Bearing in mind ferrets have been doing the job for god knows how long without the need for improvement?? An absolute waste of alot of years if you ask me

Used to use amber ones for a while, some time ago now with the same sort os success I get now, I only choose red ones now as the light don't stand out as much

  21. Of course there is a need for sites like this, (the decent ones anyway! :11: ) not only is it a good information source where you can the right advise on something, but it also is a place where like minded people can log on and have a bit of banter. I, like others have met some good people through this site that live all over the country (and indeed other countries!) and for that reason alone it is worth keeping it going for me. Granted we can't all share the stories and pictures of our outings which we have done on this site and the old smoochers site over the years due to the new laws bu

  23. I don't often watch TV in the evening but I am really glad I tuned into this, I really enjoyed it. It was good to see that most of the people took what they had learned back home with them and at least the lad who had shot rabbits and pigeons before, he now knows what to do with them!! He was just wasting what he shot for the last god knows how long :11:
