I once owned a bitch sired by Tweedle Dee, I got her for nothing due to a man I know buying 2 sisters and after a week decided that he couldn't cope , he bought a red merle and blue merle pup, I got the red one from him, she was 9 weeks at the time, although there was alot of hype about hancocks dogs and a lot of friends warned me off these type of lurcher, i still went ahead and took the dog (I like a challenge!!) Most of you from the OLD smoochers site will remember the said dog, her name was Cass although I always referred to her as the "Merle bitch". It must be said though (and i'm no

I have 1 lurcher dog, 1 jack russell bitch, 1 black patterdale bitch, A red fell x lakey type bitch and her black and tan daughter. I work a lot of cover with the terriers (usually 2 at a time), also a LOT of ratting, the patterdale and the red bitch are used for what little ground work I do. and the lurcher is there for a bit of allsorts really, mainly to make short work of whatever bolts I also do alot of squeaking with him

36 rabbits at 18 months old!! she is doing more than well (they weren't drummers were they? LOL) If it's just rabbits your after bolting any type of whippet cross should do the trick for ya Personally I wouldn't breed your bitch if you didn't need to! There are plenty of decent litters about to choose from if you look. all the best Danny PS Where abouts are ya from?

I own a 22 inch (ish) lurcher X lurcher, he is over half whippet in his make up, a good friend of mine has been breeding this line of lurcher for over 15 years. this little dog is well capable of killing fox, he is four years old now, in his first season, while he was learning, he didn't make as clean of a job as he does now of taking fox, but the heart and determination in this dog was unbeleivable! Now he is alot more experienced he can knock one in a matter of seconds He is one few dogs that i have seen catch more bolted rabbits than he misses, he just always seems to be in the right plac

Dog lads on the whole wether from town or country respect and understand the countryside mate. the problem i have is when a bunch of city idiots buy all the houses as second homes and then moan about the smell of a farm or cockerals that crow too early! :realmad: They are wankers mate plain and simple :realmad: Real country people cant afford to live their anymore, if i had my way mate id get rid of them and move all the people like yourself, who live in towns etc but who appreciate the country for what it is. When you put it like that I know 100% where you are coming from mate

Well I live and have been brought up on a counsil estate and not afraid to admit it either, it does however border fields and fields to one side so maybe not as town like as it could be! I own my own house in this squalid place i call home but I spend most of my time in the country though, and all of my permission is in the country, I try not to poach as i don't have the need to, but do take advantage of the odd quiet spot from time to time (without causing a nuisance ). I get along great with the farmers and gamekeepers who give me the permission and on occasions have the odd drinking sessio

That is some number of rats that is, the place must have been lifting, think of how many there must still be there! Was this the first time you called at this particular farm or is it like this every year?

I bred my terrier last year and the pup i kept back, now 10 months old, is starting to lose hair. This is an ongoing problem since she was a couple of months old, took her to the vets who told me it COULD be a type of mange that is common in pups (cannot remember which type!) he took several skin scrapes but couldn't find any mites!!! He gave something for it, a 3 months treatment, 3 tubes of drops which you put on 1 per month (again sorry for my bad memory but i cannot remember the name of the drops ). he said if it was this type of mange then it would clear it up, now, 4 months on and it ha

Cracking looking dog you got there mate, credit to you!!

First of all the dog must WANT to go into the cover, not all terriers make good bushing dogs, same as anything some are better than others, you will also get dogs that sit and wait for another dog to start yapping before entering the cover, but if you get a good dog that wants to get into the cover and search for its intended quarry then you are laughing. Personally I always have an older terrier to start any youngster off and i prefer to go out at first light especially this time of year, there is always plenty of scent around and the youngster will on occasions see the rabbits going into the
