  1. Lot of bull bred dogs seem to ready to rock at 8 months, but imo its better to leave them till there close to 2. They seem slower to mature than straight patterdale or lakeland.
  2. Hold him off it till next season and get him bushing over the ground, where he won't get a whole lot of success. Plenty of rats. He might forget the coming out bit next season. Seen dogs do that it the first season, some make it some don't. What age did he start at?
  3. Very nice type....what height is she?
  4. Maybe invest in a quad or a scrambler for the lure racing, the lad running up and down the track was shattered.
  5. Irishman, Do foxes take lambs, they do, fact! So what do you do when a farmer is losing lambs. You control them or you lose your permission. I was speaking with a farmer yesterday, i asked him how the yeaning was going. He said he lost 4 ewes ( how he doesn't know), but it was a good job we weren't around, or he would have blamed us as he hasn't lost ewes like that in years. I asked him then had he seen many foxes about, he has seen a few but he is baiting the cleansings and the ewes with poison. Now, thats indiscrimate, as a lot of foxes pick up carrion to survive. At least if h
  6. Were we not talking about the use of stud dogs. "Open to stud" versus "to approved related bitches only" Point being, if a dog was good enough to breed, then he should be at open stud not this closed shop bullshit. The greyhound and the apbt were used as examples were performing stud dogs were used extensively, to improve the strain as a whole Yes, there is a lot a waste in greyhounds, because they have to breed a lot of pups, due to the high rate of attrition in the sport. But if there no good the clock don't lie. And they don't get bred from. I never mentioned anything about lin
  7. Whats conditioning or fitness got to do with breeding better stock? You breed off performers and breed lots off the very good ones, and if you have closed yards or only allow related stock to be bred, you cannot do that.
  8. Nope...charge him the price of pup...and if he's a tightass charge him double...
  9. to help others in need of a good bitch needing a pup. A good stud with a good bitch can throw good pups, the more a good dog is bred off, the more the working genes will run in the breed, keeping it in tight circles is selfish and beyond me, if someone asked me for a line i wouldnt turn them down because it would ruin the dogs rep... BolloxBang on.If you breed to a dog and the pups don't turn out as expected, it's the mating didn't gel/click, move on and try again. How did the americans improve the APBT? How do greyhounds, horses and pidgeons get faster over time? It aint by keeping closed

  11. I didn't see any smartness there, don't worry about it. Nice type.
  12. Spot or patch? His name spot or patch...every russell i seen of that type was called spot or patch.
  13. Too scatterbred, but if you want to send one bred like that to me, send it on.
  14. A line has to start somewhere, can't be all linebred in the beginning. If you only breed to related bitches, then you don't know if your dog is a good stud dog. If you put him over a iffy bitch and he produces some good ones which are his stamp, then he's a good stud and cull hard...
  15. Breeding to approved bitches etc is bullshit..if your dog is good enough to stand at stud, then he should be used to raise the standards of the strain...as to encouraging peddlars giving out free services?? It should discourage peddlars as more litters around therefore less demand for pups...approved bitches were for studs that lads were afraid to stand over as they might throw shite and decrease stud values.
  16. Does JP have a line, I would say not. Edited to say Black dog ain't his line What line is it?
  17. Each to their own I suppose, but you see a lot of shit posted about wheatens, glens and Kerry blues. Lots of lads lookin through rose-tinted glasses, where their concerned.
  18. there meant to work mute.if they give any noise its frowned upon so ive been told. id have wheatens over bulls everyday of week. Why?
  19. No such thing as a staffy in 1880
  20. Somebody organise one of the votey things.....democracy rules.... Are Black terriers to be known as fells or patterdales?? and we go with the majority forever more.........
