  1. Ross. Nobody mentioned the way the show was run, which was the the usual top quality that we would expect. That was a given. What pisses me off is members ill founded comments. Jim
  2. All we need now is for Den to stick up the piccies. I know nothing about the ankle biters, but the running dugs were looking good. Cant think of a couch potato amongst them. Remember that these animals were chosen from around the country by different judges, who thought they were the best on the day. Vive le Rossettes chauseur.
  3. Chancer I can only think that your user name describes your outlook. I take it that you thought that both the Terriers and the Lurchers pulled out by the Judges were couch potatoes. Most working dogs are groomed everyday to remove sundry undergrowth and mud. They are given a good rub down and checked for damage. They are also fed with the best that can be afforded to keep them in good nick. I didn't see, nor can I comment on the Terriers. You could have hung around to see if the lurchers could manage a gallop. Can I also add that your comment is why I very rarely bother to
  4. Fishslayer Is that the same Gutenberg as the Museum. Love the oldies.
  5. Fishslayer Is that the same Gutenberg as the Museum. Love the oldies.
  6. The Sporting wife, Game and Fish Cooking. Edited by Barabara Hargreaves. Amazon had some last time I looked.
  7. Game fairs are not just for lurcher and Terrier folk. They need the townies as well. Welcome them and try to educate them in country sports. All grist to the mill.
  8. Colm Can't please everybody. I am not sure the revised schedule really worked. Might be better to work through the height thing dog/bitch, bitch /dog I am not sexist. Less money and more trophy might be something to ponder. You have the sponsor to keep onside. I am glad I don't have to please everyone. Good day. Thanks to the F&K. I think I got that right.
  9. Was it the Buccleugh today. Could you not get out of your bed for the Fife Yesterday
  10. Del Nice wee dug for a yappy thing. Someone was taking pics of the Lurchers yesterday, but they haven'y been posted.
  11. Pity more of the qualifiers didn't bother to turn up. Perhaps the weather over the last week or so put many off. Mant thanks for the pass Den, spent the money saved on a lead for the pup.
  12. They turn and orange colour when they are ripe. They still feel hard and dont drop off the tree.
  13. Here is one I like. SPICED PLUM AND LIME CHUTNEY 2kg cooked plums, stoned and roughly chopped 2 large onions, finely chopped 5 cloves garlic finely chopped 2 fresh green chillies, deseeded and chopped (go for red if you want to) Grated rind and juice of 2 limes Grated rind and juice of 1 lemon 2†of fresh root ginger, grated 600ml red wine vinegar 500g Demerara sugar 2 cinnamon sticks 25g Allspice berries 1 tsp black peppercorns Put the cooked plums in a large pan with all the other ingredients except the cinnamon, Allspice berries and peppercorns. Grind the cinnamo
  14. They are pretty average on blight resistance. They are a late maincrop which leaves them vulnerable for longer. I love them and always grow them.
  15. Tiercel other than it's Fir rather than Fur. Make the best chips ever. Just wash them, break them into bits and throw them into the pan.
  16. OK folks, just a bit of bragging. This is part of one shaw grown in exhibition black bag. Tuber wight 350g. Total wight of bag 4.5kg. You get points for the variety.
  17. I could see where black poly which is not porous might not work , but fabric does allow water to penetrate.
  18. I always have a bag of sets to over-winter. This year I thought I might try and grow them through black landscape fabric. Save on the weeding next spring/summer. I do my spring planted onions through fabric and they do fine. Has anyone tried it and with what result.
  19. Another decent turnout of hounds and sundry other dogs. Weather was just right, sunny but a decent breeze. Some good racing to finish with. Got a rosette and the hairy bitch got second overall at the racing.
  20. Scent Don't let the messers put you off. Dogs will not be running fit this time of year so make a small allowance for that. Watch them trot up, run your hands over them and if you fancy they are in good nick then thats one to be considered.
  21. You say the Leccie Fence is in the inside. I would get it shifted to the outside, runs the wire 6", 12" and 18" and give it as much juice as you can put throught it. Unfortunately you will have to get more chooks before you can intice it back to get it's bollocks fried.
  22. Lurcher & Terrier Show run by NLRC. Racing starts at 11am, bring your own muzzle. Showing starts 1pm.
  23. Starts at 12noon. Try TD11 3PT for Sat Nav. A6105 Duns to Chirnside road, turning 1.5 miles outside Duns.
