  1. F**K SAKE WHY DONT YOU PHONE THE RSPCA AND REPORT THE B******D I WOULD NOT HESITATE You have two options here, either go round with a gang or report. Either way is too good for the Tw@t. People like that should be treated the same as they treat their animals. TC
  2. Mark, I really feel for you. The work you put into the bird was first class, was really looking forward to see her fly @ Woodcock. They will still be there next year though. TC
  3. I've been out five or six times in Co.Meath this season and there is plenty of mixy everywhere I went, carcasses lying in the fields etc. Also came across poison thrown down burrows, blue blocks not unlike rat poison and the rabbits we got in that area were all bleeding internally when we gutted them... Sounds like you have VHD as well as mixy.
  4. True Leeview. But it also keeps the bottom line taught. I find in theory and a bowling green type field and you can get away with 7 to 8 yard placings. Most fields however are not like that, and each set requires a different amount of pegs. Some sets will require placings of down to 3 yards because of the conturs of the ground for half a net and 7 to 8 for the rest of the set. The truth is you set your pegs to suit the ground you are working. TC

From your question I take it you are talking about a pre set net. There is nothing wrong in using insulation tape for for what you want to do. Although the tape will slowly undo and cause the net to snag, but then you just put a bit more tape on to cover the tape that is coming loose. Alternatetivly you could try the traditional method that does not need any of these items, if far more verisitile in where you can set the net, and to be honest catches more rabbits. TC
  6. You can email Martin @ molecatcher@talktalk.net He will answer you email.
  7. This is what stephen58 was talking about. I have used sewn in bagging for about 20 years. A few tips that may help. If your net is 4" sew 36 meshes every 6' When setting the net use the sewn in line as a footline. When used this way there is not a lot of differance between a sewn in net and a free running net. The sewn in net will be a lot easier to pick up as you will not need to be constantly reseting the bagging. TC

The only problem with using Ash is that to get long net pegs of the right diameter the wood in the pegs will be mostly sap wood and will not last as long as well seasoned hazel. However puse net pegs made of well seasoned Ash are brilliant to use. TC
  9. One word, bollocks. However I can't be arsed going over the same shite again, I don't understand the whole 'Lets hang someone because they don't use a locator' thing that goes on on this site, It's one of the reasons I don't frequent the ferreting section as much these days. It doesn't happen on other sites, & I'd rather discuss ferreting else where TBH. TC
  10. If you mean a bald tail. There are a few questions you need to ask yourself. Is the ferret eating and drinking as normal? Has the ferret still got a spring in it's step and run to the wire when it hears your voice. If the answer to the above questions are both yes. Then it is a fair bet your ferret is moulting.
  11. But he knows a man that does. molecatcher@talktalk.net TC
  12. There is a simple answer to that. Move it, you are a mod!!
  13. Auld salmon, I know swandogs post was not meant any other way other than, have you got any pictures we can see out of intrest. The post was aimed at the moron archie70 that copied his post. That is why I stated that he only had 3 posts. To be fair I should have deleted swandogs part of the quote, apologies for not doing that and making what I was trying to say a lot clearer. TC
  14. seeing is beleiving you got it in 1 FFS you have a post count of three. Then you call into doubt the integrity of a respected member. With @ssholes like you no wonder good people are leaving this site. TC
  15. I had been training dogs since I was 12 years old. I thought I had had a fair measure of sucssess. Then I tried training my first GWP and all that I had learnt in that 30 odd years went out the window. Training HPR is a totally different kettle of fish to other gundogs. If you are used to training Labs Spaniels etc, allowing, ney encouraging a dog to work 200 yards away from you is a bit of a shock to the system. Also the dogs disposition of, yep Ill do it, but in my time. Can have you pulling your hair out by the handfull. Most HPR's even though they seem pretty thick skinned, are really
  16. I did put Fir then changed it. I have always wanted to try them but never have. I will have to next year. How do they fair against the blight as we get it pretty bad here? (west coast) TC
  17. Very good for a first attempt. As has been stated you knots are all even that means you are pulling with an even pressure and that will make for a better working net. One tip that will save your fingers, when pulling the knot tight use the heel of the needle not your fingers. TC
  18. May i ask , how you had yours for 10% of recovered monies when the site states that they take 25%? Bank charges How did you wangle the 10% fee as I would use them for that price. But not for 25%. Especially as you can do it yourself for a tenner. Have a look at this site it even gives you the templates on how to phrase your letters. TC
  19. Shh, you'll get burned at the stake for being a heretic if you keep that up, the old methods are akin to witchcraft in these parts! There are some that know better though, hey Mal? TC
  20. Think this is called for on this thread. TC
