  1. The reason rabbits have that smell is because they are not cleaned properly, you have to take the scent glands out, otherwise it taints the meat and gives off that horrible smell when cooking. Once the scent glands are out it's fine. Take a look at the video 9 . 50 in he shows you where the scent glands are. TC

  3. When you talk about minimal differences like .10 of a mm it is neither here nor there. The difference between .8 and .7 is so minimal in the overall scheme it is not worth talking about. What does bare talking about is how the twine reacts to knotting Basically you really need an inert twine to knit with. This is where a good spool of spun polyester scores over twisted nylon every time. The Z twist and the S twist impart a memory in a spool of twine and if the spool is not de-spooled correctly it can and does cause all sets of problems to the knitter. The quality spun nylons and polyesters

  5. The fact that you are actually thinking about it is worthy of praise. Place your poles up right, with the headline no more than 18" off the ground try and keep the head line as taught as possible even if it means putting guy ropes / purse nets on the end poles. Try and pick a day with as little wind as possible and that should help with the rabbits coming from both sides of the net. That said in my experience if the net has plenty of slack it does not usually matter what side of the net they come from. TC
  6. .051 is approx 1.3mm which to my mind is a bit heavy for long nets. But I do like fine long nets. 4z 210/12 is only .7 of a mm in diameter, that said spun nylon is always a larger diameter for braking strain than nylon with a twist. TC
  7. Odds on it's an evergreen tree? TC
  8. Just have a look through this lot, you will find some stunning Taxidermy by rob and some others. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/forum/121-taxidermy-tanning/ TC
  9. If you are confident that is is bigger than a spar, I would say a Goshawk also. TC
  10. Is the net 24 meshes deep @ 4 3/4" mesh? If that is the case it is not fishing anywhere near 9.5ft deep, more like 6 to 7ft if your lucky, even rigged by half. TC
  11. It depends how deep the net is and how it is rigged, too much buoyancy without having enough slack in the net will pull the meshes tight. TC
  12. Open command prompt as administrator when you open that you will see system32 written there. After the system 32 type powercfg /h off and that will switch hibernation off. And before you ask. TC

  17. I can't be the only one that hates new year surely? All those people who would not piss on you earlier in the year want to be your best friend for the night. Feck that. I love Xmas, but new year, I hate with a passion! TC
  18. Is that the lack of vitamin A that we get from not enough sunlight? TC
  19. I would say so, but you would have to clean the pith out of the centre of the antler first and refill with resin, then you could drill and set the knife tang in the newly drilled hole. May be wrong though. Brain fart moment like my post before last. TC
  20. A pair of sir-clip pliers springs the collar off, quick file to the sides of the rivet head to take the splay off and punch it through. One end of the rivet generally only has a slight splay so dosn't take much, can re-use the rivet on re-assemble and just round over wit ball-pin hammer. I plan to do some step by step pictures next time and will post them up. Looking at the hole that the pin that holds the blade and the socket for the handle it looks off centre so it might be an idea to drill that before you round the end off, then round the end to suit the hole? Just a thought.

  22. Fingers crossed for you. You have done all you can, no one could have done more. TC
  23. Bit of a long one this. Not a rabbiting related tale but fishing. In the early 90's I was fishing for bass for a living, anyway my engine blew on the boat and I did not have enough money to fix it, so was reduced to working for other people on their boats and just taking a third of the catch after expenses. Any how this one night another fisherman called at the house and told me there were a lot of bass up in the banned area where we could not fish. To be honest I would have not gone normally, but the thought of having enough money to get the engine fixed was just too tempting. So
