    Read the instructions and make sure the collar is orientated at 90 degrees to the finder. ie. put flat down on the floor and measure vertically from directly above it. If you measure it horizontally it will appear further away.

    IMHO, the MK3M is a vast improvement. If you think you've got a problem, call Deben. They're pretty good on customer service.

    Hi, I saw a Harris and a Deben side by side and I tell you there is no difference at all. I defy anyone to tell the difference. They are totally identical in all respects.

    I have two here and they are virtually the same size. The new one is a big step forward, the fact it is totally sealed, leather replaces nylon etc - I'm not saying you have to upgrade but it is MUCH better. They've obviously listened. I assume they will stop selling the old one, so there may be some bargains about.

    Uh, how did you get to that conclusion? I spoke to one of the guys from Deben at the Midland Game Fair, he said the new collar works exactly the same as the old one except it's waterproof and has a leather strap. I guess this is why it's still a Mk3. Anyone used one yet?

    looked at the new mk3 collar at the midland stubby. its a small version of the 40ft terrier collar. but its far bigger than the standard mk 1 collar. fecking great bulky thing. im used to micro collars, and i thought the mk3 slim line collar that fits snug was a step in the right direction. but you will need a 3 lb hob to lug this new mk3 round underground. The one I saw was smaller than the MK1 and much lower profile. If you've got the Deben brochure it's on page 142. Leather collar, fully waterproof, magnetic switch off and longer battery life.
