Logun Solo, cheap as chips (cheapest pcp on the market new...I think!) very accurate, and I've had no faults so far, been some worry about the barrel getting knocked and moving the zero but haven't actually found a review saying it's happened to anyone. (logun now sell a bracket if your worried). mind you don't forget there's some lads out there selling decent second hand packages (gun, filling equipment, scopes etc) try putting something in the sales and wants section.

They look great mate! those buck knives take some beating, my dad got given one similar to yours about 15 - 20 years and he uses it for anything and everything, still going strong and very rarely needs sharpening, takes a while to get a decent edge but once on it's there for a while!!

i heard it, the host was in favor of bringing back fox hunting, he also spoke with keith arther who host fishing program on saturday mornings. asking if shooting and fishing will be sabs next target ( imo fishing will be next on their f**k up peoples enjoyment list. they've already started on both!! shooting a long time ago, that's why a lot of shoots moved to weekdays as most antis were weekend warriors and can't be arsed to take time off work to support their cause!! and as for fishing there was that big upset that got the country in uproar (at last)when a big group of antis wit

I know most beaters give chocolate to their dogs (including me) but I think it's more to do with the amount you give em keep it small and it should be ok, certainly for us brit's as our chocolate has the lowest concentration of coco powder in europe!! something like 12%!

Glad she recovered mate! but dont forget chocolate (including mars bars) can be lethal to dogs, Quote from internet. - "Dogs are sensitive to a class of chemicals of which caffeine and theobromine are two members. Dogs are unable to excrete these chemicals known as methylxanthines as efficiently as humans are. The half-life of these compounds is about 2 hours in a human but in a dog it is more like 18 hours. What happens in dogs is that the compounds travel via the liver and bile duct into the intestine where they are converted back into the original methylxanthines for another circu

Introducing to the gun-at what age?
bullmastiff replied to Bountyman_90's topic in Gundogs & Retrievers
starter pistol with short .22 caps from a distance at about 6-8 months. Treat the dog everytime the gun goes off, go careful decreasing the distance as a lot of people have ruined good young puppies making them gun shy! -
A 2yr old dog in it's second home already, sounds like anxiety to me. Getting nervous when it's left on it's own, he needs to get the dogs confidance up and used to him leaving the house. Basic Training should help a lot.

not being funny but if a good pat can kill foxes then most larger dogs should be able to do the job easily. So your not talking of jaw power just the speed of the kill to ensure it's humane, as millet said a pure grey is more than man enough for the job so the only thing your looking to add to that is maybe more stamina and certainly a thicker coat or skin to help protect it! which both beddy or bull crosses bring to it. From what I've seen on this site so far the beddy x seem to be quite a lot lighter so can probably catch the fox in the shortest amount of time but the bull x with the exces

Great video mate and nice work by iceaz! Interesting to see how you laid the purse nets, when I was younger we always pushed the bottom ring into the ground just inside the hole then spread and pegged the net but you just lay it in.

Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall cooked them up on his river cottage show, certainly looked tasty! Cajun Squirrel ~ squirrels, cut into serving pieces, amount depends upon how many you can eat ~ olive oil ~ 1 large onion ~ 1 large green pepper ~ 2 cloves garlic ~ Cajun spice (Tony Chachere's recommended) ~ 2 tbsp Tabasco sauce ~ 4 tbsp ketchup ~ 1 tbsp Gumbo File seasoning ~ cooked rice In a deep pot or dutch oven, heat some olive oil. Season the squirrel on all sides with the Cajun seasoning. Add to the hot oil and turn to brown on all sides. Continue to cook until do

Sounds like you've just got a dog with a soft mouth, I suppose some dog's just aren't the killing type, at least he's retrieving! Arse biting makes sense if he's trying to retrieve it back to you, the arse is the furthest point from the teeth, he's just fed up with getting bitten!! Try what 'BITCH' suggested, maybe another dog going in hard a fast will get his blood up a bit more??

bullmastiff replied to lost scouse's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk

couple hours out with the kids and lurchers
bullmastiff replied to swanseajack's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Some great photos! certainly looks like the dogs enjoyed themselves! hope the kids did too! Thats some good looking lurchers. Hate to ask the usual Q's but how are they breed do you know? -
American triallers use them all the time, wont train without one. The dog is supposed to be trained to the coller before you use it for correctional work. used correctly the dog is given a command then buzzed (low level constant shock) until it reacts so the dog learns that IT controls the coller, the sooner it reacts the quicker the buzz stops, If the dog slows up or turns away from you whilst being recalled the shock starts again. Same for sending it back etc. etc. Also used for 'snake bites' to teach the dog the easier way that snakes are dangerous, they leave out a rubber snake and walk pa

About 19-20 years ago my parents moved us down out of west london to get us away from the drugs, gangs and Jamacians, first thing my dad did was find the nearest keeper and offered to give him a hand, he knew nothing of hunting or shooting but soon learnt. Year later me and my brother are being dragged out of bed at silly times in the morning to go on stop or bring in 'a few' hedges (usually about 5 miles of!) before shoot day starts. Then got my first dog, an english springer spanial which I've still got (16yrs old) and never looked back

Nice one mate! I've been practicing for long shots with the solo, seem to be getting good results so far I'm getting about 2" groups out to about 50 yds :thumbs-up: Gun seems perfect, just me shaking to much!! went out again last night to pick up a couple of rabbits for dinner came back with a rabbit and a pigeon

From 4-5 months old,get them in a field with ewes in lamb, they won't think about it after that! did it with the springer and the poor bugger ran straight into an electric sheep fence, got caught up and had recieved a fair few shocks by the time we managed to get him free. A keeper friend used an electric fence to stop his terrier running in a couple of whacks from one of them when it trys to get through to the sheep soon changes their mind

the boxer has an under shoot jaw and cant hold. I was led to believe the undershot jaw and shortened muzzle was to improve grip and jaw power not lessen it? fair enough with some it's far too undershot it be much use but anything up to 1cm gap between front top and bottom teeth is usually still ok, and i believe it's not the bottom jaw thats longer, it's the top jaw which is shorter hence a lot of bull breeds suffering with extended soft palates (palate stays the same size and is just moved further back in the skull)
