  1. You don't need to pick them. People used to wait until the first frosts because the cold split the skin open. Now you can just bung them in the freezer and they'll split nicely.
  2. Well, after yet another try at getting some decent photos of a moving target with the Phone (I don't own a camera!) I give up!! These are the best I can get, bloody thing! Straight from the school of Paulus! He still spends most of a walk either running in circles trying to tease Tess into chasing him or chewing on her ears! http://vid76.photobucket.com/albums/j14/Lukebully/20151022_144421_zpsnl4gmx0o.mp4 http://vid76.photobucket.com/albums/j14/Lukebully/20151022_144733_zpsvdb2s0rs.mp4
  3. The GoPro type of camera are no use for Lamping. Their too wide angle with no zoom function so you end up with a bright white dot in the centre of a black picture! I've got a Sony Handicam I use if I'm trying to film some Lamping. It's not HD but seems to cope with a tighter spotlight fairly well. You do have to change your lamping technique slightly though as the camera can take several seconds to autofocus. So you either need to leave the lamp on or turn camera and lamp on pointing close in then raise them both up to your quarry. The tighter the beam the longer the camera will take to focus
  4. Stanley flasks seem to be the best but with all flasks, once you start opening them and the cold air gets in, then they all soon start cooling down. When I first got the Stanley I filled it with boiling water and left it outside all night and all day, the water was still really hot in the morning but when I was out ferreting and kept pouring small cups of coffee it was only lukewarm 10 hours later.
  5. Maize is finally coming down this weekend so finally get to dust off the shotgun! Taking the pup with me for some experience.

  6. Mine was two jabs 8 - 12wks. Never heard of a third jab??? Hope the vets not trying to take her for a ride.... maybe go with her to the vets and have a chat!
  7. Wouldn't mind breaking mine to cats but don't know any friendly ones! All these pups seem to be pretty similar in size. would of thought with so many breeds involved they'd throw much more varied in size/shape
  8. No yours is still a monster! He's got to be twice the weight of max by now. I'm pretty sure yours is at least half mastiff! Think Jim had you over with a pup from a rescue shelter!! lol
  9. We haven't got any weighing scales in the house so haven't got a clue on max's weIght but I just measured him, he's just under 22" tts! Only 2" behind his dam at 4 months old! lol
  10. Guessung low twentys? Think mine was about 18-19" to the ahoulder at 14 weeks, the Dam was 24" and sire 26" tts so I'm presuming he'll be about the same size as the sire. Depending what you feed the pup on they can get big growth spurts and throw an inch on in a week then stop for a bit! I think on high meat diets they tend to grow a bit steadier. JMO all the best with the pup.
  11. I'm sorry for your loss fella. Sounds like she a character. RIP.
  12. Only half decent recent pics I have unfortunately, Turns out the camera on my phone struggles with photos over about 15yds away at the minute??? Their all pixellated and blurry when I put them on the computer. He's a lovely bold pup and growing at a fair pace! Can't say I've weighed him or measured him but he must be just over 20" by now. He keeps pushing his luck with Tess and trying to rough house with her. I have to keep stepping in as Tess plays a bit too rough and keeps flattening him. She not biting him and there's no menace in it but she just runs straight over the top of
  13. In the same boat at the moment. My legacy is dying on me but it's been a hell of a car for 5 years and only £600 Was looking at the honda accord 2.0. Seems to have great reliability but would like another legacy really. There just so expensive!!
  14. Several years ago the local keeper had a springer that would take the occasional fox. He was a big lad for a springer mind so don't know if a Cocker could handle it? They may be keen to start but a quick nip would put most off.
  15. He eats everything I put in front of him. It's not that he looks like something from a RSPCA advert but he has a waist and you can see some ribs like an adult lurcher. Im used to seeing them a bit more filled out so wouldn't mind getting a bit more weight on him is all.
  16. I tried on the altberg extremes when I was there, nice boot and I think they would probably last for years but by f*ck were they stiff! Think it would take you a few years just to break them in! I went for the gamekeepers in the end.
  17. Max's ears have started to come up now so I guess by that and the fact hes managed to chew a hole in the wall behind his crate that he's starting to teeth! lol On a side note, I still haven't had much luck getting some more weight on this pup, his foods 35% protein and almost 20% fat. He also has fatty beef ribs to chew on and lamb breast mixed in through the week and yet his ribs still show through a bit... Anyone got any ideas? I prefer pups to be more round than slim. Maybe it's just the saluki showing through? Someone suggested goats yogurt but I can't find it in the supermarket.
  18. He's looking great. Still got a bit of filling out to do by the looks of him? He certainly looks bigger than I thought he would having so much saluki in him.
  19. Love the snow scene I think drawing animals is a damn sight harder than humans or scenery so she done bloody well to paint Bryn in that jumping position. When she paints the one of you sat down with the dog, ask her to move bryn right up close to you in the painting. It'll give it the 'one man and his dog' feel about it. It'll be a nice way to remember him when he's gone. Thanks for sharing them with us
  20. Smashing looking dogs dodger Get a pic of your pup up for us mush. Wouldn't mind we seeing how he's coming on.
  21. Your in the big leagues now, no holding him back!! Mines still happy with lamping daddy long legs in the garden! Lol
  22. I've got the two button variable striker. Only time I ever use the dimmer is when squeaking foxes. With it dimmed right down you still get the tight spot beam just not as bright so you can still see the eye shine but with a quick tap on the trigger and it goes to full beam.
  23. The software is really easy to downgrade. Google it, shouldn't take more than a few mins to sort.
  24. Entrance fee was going to be £34 this year. With attendance of around 150,000 that's 4.5 million just in gate fees let alone the money from stalls. How can it cost that much to run a game fair....
