  5. I'm on the Somerset/Dorset border in Wincanton, they've just started the first cut this week. so will have to start sniping not stalking now! Still trying to make a bracket like verminhunters to hold the camera so I can do a few videos.

  7. Helpful info from the Firearms Acts 1968-1997, Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2004 and BASC Code of Good Airgun Practice.... and Me!!! Airguns: Facts and Figures We recommend that you refrain from using them on live quarry other than the following: crows, rooks, jackdaws, magpies, jays, woodpigeon, collared doves, feral pigeons, brown rats, grey squirrels and rabbits. It is illegal to buy so much as an airgun pellet until the age of 17. It is illegal to use airguns anywhere except on private land with permission or on Public Target Ranges with Permission. 8. Thanks for the reply's and yes W.D. the third from the top was a ruddy great buck rabbit! probably the biggest I've had in a number of years... and the hardest to skin as well, he was like leather!!!! It's my fault for writing such a long post just thought it would be better than the occasional "HAD GOOD NIGHT, SHOT 4, HERE'S THE PIC", i must be getting as bad as Ditchy!!! I'll try and keep it more to the point next time. We hit him as he came out of the reeds by a stream where he got hit in the head/neck by the bumper I'm guessing he was an old bird getting towards the end of a hard breed
  9. I'm usually just a pot hunter taking a rabbit or two as and when I can find time but whilst out walking the dog I came to some fields I've never been through before and noticed the damage done by the rabbits, the grass had been clipped to a manor lawn for about 5yds out from almost every hedge and every 15-20 yds their were large semi circles stripped clean with rabbits sat there bold as brass sunbathing in the mid day sun, so I thought I'd have a word with the farmer about taking a few. Finally managed to find the farmer and after a quick chat I asked about helping him with the rabbit proble
  10. Cracking shot lad, that bottom photo say's it all!! nice to see you sharing something in common with your dad, just don't forget to miss a few so your Da doesn't feel such a bad shot!!! Do you hunt with the bow, or is it just target shooting? Happy hunting Luke.

  13. that's the one! not to bad a read, my dad brought it back from Thailand when he came back for a few weeks.
  14. You can see the potential, just imagine the class of women you could get with "Would you like to come back to my cottage in the country and peruse My landseer collection?" opposed to "Fancy having a look at some traps in my shed?" Once lulled into your home with offering's of etching's she would see the plight of the poor freeholder and his lonesome donkey and goat then fall in love with the rough and ready Ditchshitter that we all know. A refined Lady like that would almost certainly love dogs, more than likely come with her own money and your infamous water closet that is
  15. I take it you don't use the £800 traps!!! well you know what to do, sell a trap and buy a Landseer! I found it in a gallery I'd love to visit one day, although it's in North America!! Dedicated to Nineteenth and Twentieth century dog art, it's got the usual Pug with an attitude and West highland with a perm but it's got some really nice paintings including a nice Bulldog by Aistrop and Pair of bullmastiffs by the aptly named Wright Barker. It's called The William Secord Gallery it's got a brilliant website, easy to use, with info on all the Artists and Paintings, well worth a look. w
  16. That Alpine Mastiff is a Noble looking beast, like two differant dogs moulded together just behind the shoulder! it's got a bit of a 'boultbee' going on with it's neck, it's bigger than it's head! still artists impression I suppose?? and at $1600, a pretty investment (if you could afford it!)
  17. Used to use a 'Barnett Black widow' when I was younger, used to shoot soft clay at smooth wood targets for practice, you could never get Nickel or chrome plated steel ammo 15 years ago and fishing weights were to expensive to waste!!! so used to find rounded stones by the streams or freeze acorns. they weren't to bad on birds at close range if you could hit them but most would zip straight past tumbling end over end. I've just finished reading a book and in part of that a keeper tells of people killing deer with catapults. Using sharpened triangular metal flats in wide catapults they would cr
  18. Usually got a desent gundog scurry setup and BASC will be their doing their shooting clinic which is always worth a look plus usual shows and stands The website - http://www.sherbornecountryfair.com/ Anyone going?

  20. Isn't that it's ear hole??? Personally I prefer cotton buds to clean my ears with!!
  21. As it's illegal in England mate then the answer is never!! Ian's written the main points of hunting with dogs in a pinned topic at the top of the running dog section. Might be worth a read! Now if you asked what age people's dogs were when they used to be able to work fox Pre-Ban then they might be able to help you!!
  22. Doesn't look that much better when it's a 23" bully!!
