  1. bit belated but happy birthday mate hope your having a good holiday!
  2. He didn't get a boar in the end so took himself hunting for a red stag instead!
  3. It's on again, then repeated this afternoon. Just shown some pigeon shooting and next episode he's going Boar hunting in tunbridge wells.
  4. We used to use mains electric on our Home wood, we just ran a wire across from the barn. then car batteries on the rest. I've seen pheasants brushing past it getting to the pop holes and they didn't seem to feel it at all???
  5. Ask the better half really nicely!!! trust me on this, you won't regret it! would probably go well with rice as well???
  6. Missus said she wasn't going to eat when she got back from work so thought I'd have a play in the kitchen (if it goes wrong she won't be wingeing at me!!!) Ingrediants: 1 rabbit, should serve two-three (or just me, depends on your appetite!) 2 slices of smoked back bacon cut into small strips (4 of streaky) 1 large beef Tomato chopped finely or a large tin of chopped tomato's, 1 large breakfast mushroom (or a few closed cup) 1 large clove of Garlic crushed and chopped (or use the dried stuff), 1 Red pepper deseeded then roughly chopped, 1 onion roughly chopped, 1/2 pint red wine (a
  7. Congratulations to you both, I hope you have many happy years together.
  8. To be honest I don't know, this is a first in a long time I've sat down on a sunday morning with nothing to do!!! so i've never seen it before, five episode's are repeated again at one o'clock same channel.
  9. Congratulations Kye, I hope you beat the sh*t out of him for cheating! is your hand going to be ok for the fight in three weeks?
  10. Well there must of been 10 of them (including camera crew) walking, chatting and laughing on top of the bury, 5 ferrets in, one 3/4 grown rabbit out! the Lurcher chuffed off away from the noise and quietly caught a rabbit in the gorse behind them then disapeared for a late Dinner! and was back in time to catch the only rabbit that hit a net! Chef said this is really good fun but I think I'll have to come back with the rifle to actually get some rabbits! as if Ferreting was a fun day out rather than a pest control method! Still it's good PR for country pursuits, which is what we need. The
  11. On at the moment, he's doing some cracking recipes, just shot a roe and skinned it at a food fair (then some nice recipes) and now about to go Ferreting for some rabbit recipes! Well worth a watch!!
  12. My friends grey did almost exactly that, he took it to the vets where they just cut the remaining skin that was still holding the nail on and then wrapped it up, shot of antibiotics. he'll be good as new soon they said. the swelling never went down so back to the vets for an x-ray, turns out he'd broken the tip of his toe which had bent back towards the knuckle then started healing so they had to take the toe off! .
  13. Go on then give us the full story on what happened, weather, rifle/shotgun used, distances, stalked/driven/sniped etc. you can't just tease us with that little snippet then leave us hanging!!
  14. That's a good point Stubby If it is rats then try smooth peanut butter, the little buggers will stand around licking at it for ages! and once they've got a taste it doesn't matter if you miss, they'll soon come straight back
  15. I don't think runner was young, just a nob takng the piss out of running dog folk. (obviously thinks your all london Chavs init!!! ) they were only on for an hour and made 14 posts and read 24 profiles???they'll probably register as a new member again.
  16. Before you take the gun to a gunsmith, try the yellow pages test as a rough guide to what state your air rifle is in (might be able to save yourself a pretty penny). Put an old one against a suitable backstop, then take three long paces away from it then shoot for the centre. Penetration over 350 pages (look for slight tear in the page not just a crease) and you should be fine on all legal quarry under 30yds (headshots) A 12ftlb air rifle (.22) should tear at least 400 pages. My old springer (with a new spring etc.) will get through 384 pages, whilst the precharged will get through 442 pages
  17. Got one better!!! Game Stew (Rabbit, Venison and Pigeon) with cabbage and Mash... and a can of fizzy!!!
  18. Look's like you had a good (if slightly wet) day out!!, I would love to try walked up grouse one day. Thanks for remembering the camera this time! and some cracking action photo's!
  19. Well if were being precise, then... There's the record so far, anyone beaten it yet?
  20. I know a few of you guys work offshore oil so just wondering if any of you work for rossoffshore? My dad knows quite a few guys from some of the rigs around saudi area etc. Just interested if you know him or vice versa is all.
  21. All of them!!! had that emailed to me before.
  22. Personally I just use a smallish LED light held under the gun against the fore end, light's up the eye's at about 60 yds and show's the rabbit's outline at about 35-40. Good as a rough rangefinder!!! Added bonus is that you don't heve to walk around waving the gun about you to see, and it lasts 100's of hours on two AA batteries!
  23. Thank you jasper! The back block actually came away quite easilyin the end, once unscrewed the back block rested away less than an inch, I guess it won't be that easy when we replace the spring!!! The cylinder looks in quite good nick, with just a little dirt in the grease so hopefully a good clean with IPA should be enough! I'll try to get some decent photo's once I get my camera back. Thanks again Luke
