South Somerset/Dorset border.

Never been long netting so I wouldn't know if it's even possible but could a long net be put in place during the day (in a secure place unobserved) and have the net tied up to the top rope using slip knots along it's length using a long piece of cord? so come midnight all you need do is tug hard on the cord to release the net to the floor then take a quiet walk around the field. I can't remember if I read it somewhere or got told it??? Anyone heard or tried it?

Where in Devon are you? I'm probably a bit too far from you, (Wincanton, South Somerset) Still a nice offer for someone! A hand in friendship and a chance to go shooting, I'm surprised there's not more replies.

Feeding rabbit/chicken carcasses?
bullmastiff replied to a topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
If your worried about the dog getting worms from the ungutted rabbit then just freeze it first, although putting it in a freezer bag first is probably a good idea for your missus sake!!! -

Manflu don't know but cat flu Yes! years ago mine caught it and the vet told me to put them down as they wouldn't survive, but being 13-14 years old that wasn't an option!!! so I had them in my bedroom with me for about a week, they couldn't move and be severe squits so you can imagine the smell! They pulled through and gave me 4-5 years more fun!

As said before get a bottle if you shoot a lot of pellets through your gun but if it's only weekend shooting then a pump will be fine, I use mine most weekends for rabbits/pigeons for the pot and only shoot around 10 shots (and 5 of them are checking zero in the farm yard!) so only need to charge the gun every couple of weeks. 10-15 pumps to get the pump up to pressure with the rifle (easy) then 4-5 pumps to fill the rifle back to 190bar from about 140bar (hard)

Sorry I've only just seen this post, I was looking on the net a while back looking for butchering videos and came across an american video produced by Kentucky Dept of Fish and Wildlife On "Deer Processing - Techniques from the field to the freezer". Might well be what you are looking for? I had a few questions and Emailed their Info centre and got passed on to a guy called David C. Yancy who's a Senior Wildlife Biologist in the KY Dept. of Fish & Wildlife Resources. He answered all my questions the very next day!!! wish our Government departments could get their act together like that!

And don't forget it's only the people listed on the Warrent that can come on your property! If they were looking for a Shotgun why would RSPCA be there??? gently remind the police officer issuing the Warrant that those that aren't listed are trespassing and should step off your property! RSPCA are just normal citizens and have more rights than you.

Erik, stop giving away my secrets of the terrier breeding for boar, their going to make me a fortune in a few years!!! I've not long got back from 2 days of boar hunting with Erik in Belgium (post/photos to come soon), and it's the only way we'll get to hunt boar in the future (legally), dogs driving out to guns or stalking with rifle. and these were bigger Erik!

It certainly did! I also met Sharon Davis at the same event as Geoff Capes, turns out she's a grade A bitch!!! screams at me to sit down, has the photo taken then screams at me to 'move along!' she didn't even smile for the photo and as for the ferrets, I would love to get some more but just haven't got the time to work them anymore (maybe as a pet for my daughter!!!). hmmm got me thinking now!

As above, we've been clearing the attic and found some old photo's, no real reason for posting them, just thought I'd share a few! Sorry for the quality but it's photo's of photo's. After winning a sports day at primary school, I got to meet the one and only Geoff Capes!!! Me aged 10ish? in the ferret's old bird aviary that was the envy of all my mates at the time! (ferret parks seems to be quite common now!) "Jump...I'll catch you!" won second prize in a shooting Times comp when I was about 14. I won a ferreting trip with a true countryman from East Coker in Somerset who I sa

Springers are a 'boil in the bag' type of dog! with minimal training you'll have an adequate dog to work with, more training you put in, the better they get. Cockers on the other hand seems to take a lot more training to get them to an acceptable level to work but in the right hands they can be outstanding little workers (what some people call 'character' others call 'headstrong'!!!). Cheers Luke.

Well Tia's home, she's lost an enormous amount of weight and very fragile and shakey . Not allowed anything to eat until tomorrow and then it's tea spoons of Hills I/D food little and often. small amounts of electrolytes mixed with water tonight plus medication. back to the vets on monday to check her progress. Still she's home, and it shouldn't take too long to get her back to normal. Cheers Luke A few pic's of the poor girl.

My spanial Teal, had a mars bar or a couple of penguin bars at lunch time as a pick me up on beat days for over a decade, some years I was beating 4 days a week during the season, never seemed to affect him in the slightest??? Well, quick update, apparently she didn't vomit at all last night or this morning so they've given her some fluid orally rather than IV and she seems to be keeping it down. If she's kept it down by 3.30PM then she can come home. Now I've just got to find a way of paying the vet's bill!!! 3 nights in five star acommadation , drinks 'on tap' and a personal maid to cl

Tia's done it again, last time it was five of my socks, this time she's managed to find 2 Ainsley Harriet Belgium choc bars from somewhere (missus denies buying them!!!). found the empty packet Monday night when I came back from work so didn't feed her anything, Tuesday morning she starts being sick (about 6AM) by 7AM I'm on the phone to the vets, then 8.30AM into the vets. They put her on a drip, with drugs to control the vomiting and cancel the theobromine from the chocolate. none of this worked and she continued being sick throughout the day so they kept her in. Wednesday I get a phone call
