  1. Took the dogs out to my friends farm last night for a bit of a mooch about and had a few really long runs (The few rabbits we see are majorly Lamp shy!) at one point we released the dogs for a bit of free running to warm up the muscles again (it was freezing down here!) Tia and Roo were half way up the field when the Cocker pup yapping away put a rabbit up from the middle of the field and about 100 yds out from us, Roo spotted it and took off after it back towards us, he was more than a quarter of the field behind it when he started but almost had it as they came towards us. Realizing it was g
  2. Yeah mine is really tough, it's like the elastic band is to tight? or the chamfer on the bolt head it to sharp and catches the edge of the band, trying to push it through after the pellet.
  3. My preposal wasn't the greatest, she'd kicked me in the nuts, once I dropped to my knees she then hooked a finger through my ear ring and said "I DO" I love a dominant Woman :black eye:
  4. Bad accuracy? before or after you fitted the Mag? I found mine really accurate when I first got it, after I zero'd it, I was leaning on a bail and managed to put 7 out of ten shots through a circle the size of a 1p at a measured 30yds, with no breeze and a nice cool afternoon. My mate was amazed, so was I, having never seen PCP's in action before!, that's something I could never do with my old Springer when I was younger and I used to be a bit of a crack shot back then! When I was younger (about 14-15), My dad used to get me to shoot his friends fag butts at about 20yds and I could shoot sta
  5. I've been using the Mag for a few month's now and seem to be finding it harder and harder to get on with. Firstly I think it might be affecting the accuracy of the gun 1 1/2" groupings now, Where as I used to be able to get 1/2" groups resting on a bail using a tape measure to get the range. Although can't blame it just on this as the inside of the barrel hasn't been cleaned since I got it as I've only put 1 tin of pellets through it so far (still waiting for a logun cleaning kit to appear!). Secondly the rubber band that holds the pellets in the mag catches on the bolt as it comes through t
  6. Yet another well written post! well done John, Thanks for sharing ATB Luke.
  7. Thank you for your comments guys, seems some mixed reviews then! some like it but quite a few don't! I'll try and get a sound recording of it if possible. T3 £165 for the callmaster is just too expensive for me. We get quite a few foxes come in as theirs a landfill site over a man made ridge down the edge of 3 of the fields but it's mainly the young'uns, with the older dog foxes stood out on the ridge just looking down into the fields not moving! so wanted to try something different to get them in! Cheers again Luke
  8. So it's half Lab, 1/4 Bull, 1/4 Grey? Did you get some racy/non-racy types from the litter? great looking and nice strong puppy and sounds like it's picked up some of the labs need to please, should certainly help training! Good luck with them LnL Cheers Luke.
  9. As above, it turned up this morning in the post so I've been practicing with it for Friday, but don't seem to be able to get a really high pitch from it like you can with your hand. To be honest it sounds more like a fawn screaming than rabbit in distress! It says to bite down on it to make it higher pitch (which it does) but even biting it completely flat (which then means your red in the face trying to blow it!) it still doesn't sound quite lifelike? Has anyone else got one of these and does this lower pitch squeak still work effectively? Thank you for your thoughts. Luke.
  10. Even though I know nothing about Whippets, I do know that big dogs and little dogs don't have the same amount of blood! They produce the amount of blood required by the body(hence the fact you can donate it!). With muscles of that size their probably carrying pints more than a standard Whippet! Even things like veins would be much larger due to the blood flow to the larger muscles(compare a guys forearm to that of a woman) One thing though you would of thought they'd have quite high blood pressures? (when the muscles contract and force the blood back into the veins) I believe cramps are caus
  11. To be honest mate, your probably in the same boat as me with Tia (Bullmastiff) she's got endless amounts of prey drive, good nose and is quick for her breed! but she's only ever caught rabbits more by surprise (flushed from hedges, snatching from their seat etc) than on full runs, even if she does get behind them she can't turn quick enough to strike. Just leave her to it and enjoy! it'll keep her fit and you can have a lot of fun, but freezer fillers they aint! Cheers Luke
  12. Looks like you had a cracking night! I can't believe the amount of rabbits you guys see in a night! I'd be lucky to see half that amount, at distance and heading for the hedge as the light is switched on!
  13. Must admit the Petit Griffons were a real treat to watch working on rabbits! Small enough to keep up with on foot but with a big enough voice to get the blood pumping! I can't thank Leveller enough for inviting me along! Cheers Luke.
  14. Going by most of the videos on the net, they don't seem to stalk anything? they mainly sit in hides exactly 100yds or less from a auto grain feeder and just wait for a good one to appear? it seems a lot of money for not a lot of sport? But as stated when will you get the chance again? Cheers Luke.
  15. I missed a hand thrown Potato with both barrels! (we couldn't afford clays!), then highly embaressed I reloaded and let it have it where it lay in the field about 10 yds away and still missed it with the first barrel! (prides an overrated emotion anyway!) Mind you it was with my brother's right handed full and 3/4 choked gun and I'm left handed! (thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it!) Cheers Luke
  16. The trouble with offsetting such a large and heavy lamp is that it will unbalance the rifle, making you constantly twist your grip trying to hold the gun straight. Aren't the camo covers neoprene anyway? just turn it inside out or even easier just take it off when lamping! Cheers Luke.
  17. Try these: http://www.legacysports.com/products/buffa...ml#CarryProBags My wife bought me one (I was still using the padded cardboard box it came in to carry my gun!!) They've got a tough rubber base along the length, joining carry handles, shoulder strap, pockets and fleece lined. Think it cost her about £45-£50. You can get them anywhere up to about 52 inches. Cheers Luke.
  18. Must admit I'm really starting to change my mind on GWP's, I'd heard plenty of bad reports but only ever seen one work years ago and it was hard mouthed and even harder headed! so I never really gave them a thought until I joined THL, since then I've read some cracking posts (kiwi being at the forfront!) and seen some beautiful photo's of these attractive dogs. By the sounds of your post you've got a great Bitch and have done well with her training. Never a better feeling than when your dog does you proud! (Especially if in front of friends that have seen it from a pup!) Regards, Luke
  19. A Pinkie with a Gimpie! and if that aint enough to scare them a-rabs then we'll pop a .50cal on for good measure! Thats some 'Special' friends you got their mate! Ask him how many Track rod ends they bent!!! A few of my before and after photo's! From this, To This, From this, To this, And from this, To this!
  20. I've had the same sort of problem with mine, Tia can't swim at all and won't go into water past her nipples and Roo seemed scared witless of water, I presume he was forced in as a pup (he's a rescue so I'm guessing?) On a hot day walking near the Forest of Dean on holiday, a friends terriers jumped in the river and we were throwing stones in for them to chase, Roo was whining and pacing to join the fun then all of a sudden with a big splash and a snort he was in and swimming! as simple as that! we throw stones for him to chase for about 5 mins (almost constant swimming!!!), got him out before
  21. Thank You for your replies, looking on the net I've managed to find a 15kg bag of active for £9.39 + £4 p+p so I think I'll give it a try!! Many thanks Luke.
