Could you not just train the pup to lay down? this would be far easier to teach and would still lower the dogs eye line?

You know the dog not me, so go with your gut instinct - better safe than sorry. Have you checked her over to see if she's sore in any places? ( gently squeeze the stomach area or work the joints back and forth) or heart racing or anything like that? For me, as long as she's eating and drinking (even just small quantities) then I'd just keep an eye on her but not disturb her too much. Is she getting on in years? or maybe not as fit as you thought and just pushed herself a bit too hard? Tia (who's now 10) will do the same and go out bushing and hunting all day if you let her but then spend th

The small spots are probably from the brambles where her skins been pricked. If you pop one it'll have a runny white liquid in it. Shouldn't be anything to worry about. They go away fairly quickly. As for staying in her basket, are you sure she isn't just knackered? give her some rest and keep an eye on her. Good luck at the vets.

That white one certainly is a striking looking hound. I rather like the smaller one with the pure black back and white collar. Thanks for sharing.

As always, a cracking do. Was definately worth the 5 hours of driving to get there! Enjoyed myself slightly too much sat night getting a bit p*ssed but I'll remember next year, Sloe Gin and Cider just don't mix!!! I blame it entirely on the Borat impressions.... disturbed me to the core that did!!! Judges certainly had their work cut out for them on the day with a lot of really nice dogs being entered. You done it again guys and gals, stunning weekend. Reece, drop us a PM. I can't find you on the members list. We'll get something sorted in the season.

Her internet up and running yet! were still waiting to hear what the day was like. Hmm I've got a few hundred in the bank and a passport in the safe...... I'll see you in about 36 hours!! lol

Well looks like I can now make it!! Looking forward to meeting you guys and gals I know already and hopefully meet some new ones. All the best and see you this weekend! Luke.

CUT AND PASTED from another site. Not all of it willbe relevent but most points will be, hope it helps a bit..... There are two things to think about when bleeding occurs from the penis. The first is an injury to the penis or some other part of the urinary tract leading to the hemorrhage. The second is a bleeding disorder that is affecting the entire dog but showing up as bleeding from the penis. It is important to note that occasional instances of small amounts of bleeding from the penis (several drops but enough to be noticeable) are not highly unusual in intact male dogs and often do

Tag along for a shoot in Cornwall

Don't know if he'll see this (or even be able to help) but there's a guy called Langouroux on here that lives fairly close to you. I know he's helped a good few people into the sport (even managed to get a Veggie out hunting and eating meat again!!! ) also helped people on the right path to getting there FAC. The fact you've got your own permission would certainly help! I'd certainly vouch for him being a real decent, genuine guy just don't be dissapointed if he can't personally help as he's a busy man. Either way, he might be able to point you in the right direction? so try sending him a -
Foxing with Shotguns, following the Combines.
bullmastiff replied to bullmastiff's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Those SAGA cartridges are only 36g loads? that seems very light? and as the actual size of the balls is 8.65mm their twice the size of BB shot (4.5mm per ball). That means it would be about 8 pellets compared to the BB's 50 per oz. AAA are better than the saga '00' at about 36 pellets per oz. I don't see how you feel that fewer pellets travelling slower would be a better cartridge for running fox than was originally used??? -
You want to see a nasty Bull breed then try and take that bottle from the kid......

I'll try and get some photo's in the next few days but I believe their all old Gin traps, ranging in size from 2 inch jaws up to about a foot in jaw size. They all work fine (some have had the jaws wired closed though) also a Juby trap (googles a wonderfull thing!!) He was wondering what they might be worth? so I said I'd try on here. and see what you guys thought. Thank you for any help. Luke.

Foxing with Shotguns, following the Combines.
bullmastiff replied to bullmastiff's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
You should support anyones right to hunt, be it with Ferrets, Terriers, Hounds, Lurchers, Airrifles, Shotguns or Rifles... whatever. It was 24ºc, rock hard ground, with 2 combines working through a field thats hedge to hedge with Rape. You couldn't run a pack of hounds and horses through there even if you wanted to.... So therefore no use at this point to a keeper thats got birds coming in a few days time. BUT there's large tracts of woodland on the estate that I can't run with the lurcher or even shoot effectively... this is where the Hunt and also a Local lad thats digs withTerriers com -

Thank you for the positive comments, glad I'm getting some of it right! as for the negative comments I hope this explains in a bit more detail. As I had stated in the original post, I don't like BB either because of the poor patterning but he's always found them ok to use, 9/10 times stopping the fox dead instantly, I just happened to film the odd one out. I'll try better next time! Also he had to wait for the combine to turn before running in for the follow-up shot, Once they take the headland down they then just randomly cut through and turn back on themselves. I'm sure theirs good reaso -

3 yrs isn't particularly old! but that saying's a myth. Any dog can still learn new things but sometimes it just takes a bit longer to sink in.

come on bet loads of you have done this
bullmastiff replied to watchman's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
LMAO!! AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE!! Done that more than once! chasing down the field calling the dog on, desperately hoping they'll come charging past you before the rabbit gets to the hedge! What you should do and what you actually do are two completely differant things!! I'm sure an experienced Dogman would of first made sure the dog had actually seen it! but if the dog did over run the rabbit which then lifted, they would calmly flick the light off and call the dog back.... -

Help to get my lurcher to look down and run the beam
bullmastiff replied to woodmat's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
+1 rep point Teddy. Exactly as you say, just a case of getting the dog experience on the lamp. Nothing else you can do but get the dog out there and keep finding easy rabbits and slipping from short distances.
