  1. By normal society would you be meaning Toffs that potter about with their 'pretty' show Saluki crosses, I've noticed they get a bit upset when they see proper lurchers..... Thats more up to the owner to pull out of the next classes than the organisers to refuse them entry, sounds like the judge knew what a decent dog looked like though!!! lol
  2. Now that sounds like a plan! I'm halfway to you anyway! Bugger bringing the tent, I'll just crawl into the back of the car with the dogs! If the missus wants to come along then she can get the tent up whilst your getting the beers in! Will they be doing food at the club saturday night?
  3. Bullcrosses are mainly bred for a specific role in hunting, so they should usually be judged on their suitability to perform that role. Basically their bred for speed and power rather than speed and stamina/agility. In shape, many don't look like other crosses, being larger and more muscular to handle their specialised quarry. It's hard to compare them to a 'standard shape' Lurcher. Some 3/8th crosses and a lot of the 1/4 bred Bulls are more like the 'standard' running dog shape, so can be entered into normal classes if you want. Shows are for fun, you can enter your dog/bitch in almost an
  4. Tess has got about as much chance of winning the racing as I have of keeping her quiet whilst were waiting for our turn!! she doesn't half get excited watching that plastic bag being dragged about! lol Bar sounds good though!!! Is there simulated coursing as well or just straight racing? ATB
  5. Only 20 miles up the road from me so I'll be there. Sounds like it might be a good do. See you on the 14th. ATB Luke
  6. As long as the LED light is 12volts then you should theoretically get about 21 hours from it. A lot would depend on the condition of the battery?
  7. A half fit Beagle will trail along behind a Hare for hours, doesn't mean their good coursing dogs though..... An 11 minute run by a running dog shows impressive stamina/fitness levels but if it's not got control of the Hare then surely it's trailing not coursing???
  8. A knife on Stuart Mitchells website. Looks like the one your describing.
  9. Baz, I guess the dogs started getting bred for staying power so they could catch 3-4 in a row rather than for the quick catch? Brilliant find by the way whipXgrey. Thank you for sharing!
  10. That part of channel 4 website is too busy to take anymore viewers!
  11. It's down to your terms and conditions on your contract. You signed it, so your stuck with it. Saying that if they value you or you'd be hard to replace then you can sometimes 'blackmail' them into giving you more money by threatening to leave. Apart from that there's not a lot you can do other then quit and apply for a job down the road?
  12. Great vid and very informative! Only thing I do slightly differently is not actually measure the range for zeroing the rifle. Usually a measured 50yds and an estimated 50yds can be a fair bit different (depending how good you are at guessing distances) so unless your using a range finder for every shot then it's best to zero on what you think 50yds is. All the best Luke
  13. Just found the game Chest freezer full of Venison joints/roasts, Rabbit, Duck, Pheasant etc has been turned off..... Lost the lot :-( Looks like the dog will be eating well....

bet your gutted mate, thanks for coming to the show yesterday

  14. I think it depends on your situation and if someone taught you in first place. Everybody sticks to their own method (the one they were taught or the one they had used on their first successful fox dog). and will never change the way they do it. Most people that ask questions like "How would you start a dog on fox?" or "Which dog is best for xxx quarry?" don't have experienced friends that are into running dogs to show them the way. So then their only other option would be to try to get out with a stranger from a website with an experienced dog. I'd guess more dogs are slipped on their
  15. Will be there tomorrow. Always a good show, well supported and for a good cause
  16. When I started at a gym, my friends son (Sports and fitness trainer) told me the opposite of that saying for basic beginners cardio to steer clear of the running machine as it's bad for the joints in the long run (especially when carrying excess weight!). He said on a treadmill your joints impact together in the same place everytime causing more localised wear but when running outside the terrain subtly changes and so joints impact at slightly differant points everytime. If your just after pure, fat burning cardio to stay on the rowing machines and cross trainers. Never really got into gym wo

  18. Any chance of a photo of the Subaru rims please? and do they have offroad or road tyres on the rims?
  19. Cheers She's a BullXGrey over a Bullmastiff Was an accidental mating but she's turned out pretty good. Hasn't quite got the speed for some work (basically same speed as a normal F1 cross) but is surprisingly agile for her size, certainly showing some promise on other types of work but this was only her second season, so not really tested properly yet. She keeps me in sport and some meat in the freezer, so will do until I can get another Lurcher.
  20. That'll be an interesting cross. Is it yours? will be good to see what it's like as it grows. Crossing takes away most of the health issues you get with the giant breeds so should be an able bodied, healthy dog.
  21. Sorry just seen above post!
  22. Wouldn't be my namesake by any chance would it!
  23. Looks like it's from one of the mastiff breeds! but probably find it's from one of the Toy breeds instead! lol
  24. Google Translate - A great dog for children and adults. His name is scrapy knows the basic commands such as sit, stay, lie down, to the leg, Your Say Arranges to repay the court fence with an electric dog collar for euros. We'll give it only in good hands
