  1. Cant be that old as it has the new shape stock, the old ones were flat at the bottom.
  2. i have indeed,my first HFT comp! for the AAOC meet, and i came away with a bronze! in the .22 category i was well pleased! since HFT is predominately .177 here is a link to the post i put up, you may reconise a few faces? http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=94693 regards davy There are a couple of familiar faces, more like the usual suspects......
  3. hi rick well done on the quarry and well done on the comp! is that shepreth? by the way regards davy It was Shepreth indeed. Have you shot there?
  4. good shooting bud, what was the distance of the birds? and whats your pellet of choice at the mo?? atb lex They were all shot in the same tree at about 40 yds, Im using webly lazapell in 177 at the moment with good results. Not trying to blow ones own trumpet or anything but i won the winter diabolical at a local club shoot on the 17th Jan this year with this combination..
  5. Looks like you had a good day there. Looks like a lovely bit of permission, wish there was some like that near me, its all bloody flat here....
  6. Popped out for a bit of shooting this afternoon, was pretty quiet but after a lot of sitting around i ended up with a jay and two rooks. Only one rook in pick, couldnt find the other.
  7. Congratulations fella, all the best for the future.
  8. Heres my fella, nearly 9 years old now. Caught a few in his younger days and always did really well in the old terrier racing at shows, he got to the final at one.
  9. Quite happy with mine. Hes no world beater but good enough for me. A very bright dog too, which in itself can be a problem sometimes with training but he is getting better as he matures and i do prefer a dog with a mind of its own. Every one has their own opinions on hancock dogs, especially those with experience in lurchers equal to a masters degree (you know who you are) that when it comes down to it know feck all. I am sure that there is a few bad ones out there as with all litters but i always ask myself would they have all been crap with a different handler? Anyway as predicted someone
  10. He is 24" tts and his temperement is great. He is a very crafty dog though, allways trying to put one over you lol
  11. Sorry to hear about the dog Lucy. Hope it all ends well whatever you decide. That little bitch from you is doing really well now, havent started her on anything live yet tho. Her toe has made a great recovery now you wouldnt think it was ever broken. Will give her a run on a rabbit within the next couple of months, too busy with the collie cross lennie at the mo. Regards Rick
  12. Went out with the lamp myself on thurday night but gave it up as a bad job. I forgot my gloves so with slip lead in one hand and lamp in the other both hands went numb. By the time i got to the field i was heading to the snow was coming down horizontaly and when the lamp went on you could'nt see feck all. I would of thought after a couple of days with snow on the ground they would be starving hungry.....
  13. Quite happy with the 1 tonight as there doesnt seem to be many about my patch. Anyway its in the pot for their breakfast and tea tomorrow.
  14. Thought i would pop down to some local permission tonight with the dog to see what was about. Got into the first field, flicked on the lamp but only one little eye shining back. Slipped lenny and he was on it in no time, he caught it and proceeded to f@*k off accross the field with it . I walked over and picked it up pissed it and hung it on the gate as i went into the next field. Flicked the lamp on and 3 barst*rd foxes shot off in different directions. Had a walk round the rest of the field and up the hill but nothing else about. By the time i got back down the hill the fog had come from no
  15. As said above, firing a spring gun from a solid rest is not a good idea as the jolt from the spring inside the gun will cause the gun to move before the pellet has left the barrel. Bipods are only really any benefit on a pcp which has no recoil or centre/rimfire rifles.
  16. No mate never served but used to do work on raf wyton near me, just had the same look about it. Wouldnt mind permission on a couple of american bases i have worked on, Mildenhall and Lakenheath, they were like swiss cheese for rabbits.
  17. That reminds me I used to love the crusty ham rolls from the cafe. Tom used to train dogs for a bloke called Andy the Yank and a big fat bloke called john burgess to name a couple. The dogs I remember were Youthful man and Youthfull bonnet which were litter brother and sister
  18. 1 crow at 54 metres which flew 50 metres and then dropped out the sky, hit in the neck 1 crow at 48 metres which flew 100 metres and then dropped out the sky, hit in the neck Both the crows were very hardy birds and I think that from now on at distance I will have to take heart shots or head shots only . Funny how they manage to fly with just the nerves doing the work. I once shot a feral pidgeon at about 15yds in a barn in front of the stockman on one of my permissions. When the thing flew off he started laughing , we watched it through the roller shutter door, it only got
  19. Hi sandymere, If you were about Henlow track in the 's do you remember an irish chap who raced dogs there called Tom Tuit? I used to help him with the dogs when i was a kid and went with him to Henlow and other tracks most weeks. You managed to invoke a bit of nostalgia there talking about that track. Whenever we went to that track i used to end up in the back of the truck with the dogs getting bumped about on some of the worst roads i have ever known. Regards Rick
