  4. I contacted Pipa but he no longer has the time. Tried tweaking the potentiometers singly then collectively with fresh batteries in a known working collar but the bugger doesn't pick up much after 2-3' Not sure what voltage I should be seeing or pin outs of the wheel either. I think the equivalent replacement IC chip is a "4007" but again not sure if this us the component fault? Lots of "not sures" lol Pipa said contact Mick Dadd

  7. Me again... Following on from my Mk1 box questions, looking for a little more advice please With the recently picked up Mk1 8' locators for repair, there were two collars (red mouldings, smaller batteries and caps) which are a lot smaller than my standard black moulded collars. Pics to help see what I'm drivelling on about: Are these "micro" collars? Can anyone help me source a spare end cap for one of these too please? When replacing the leather portion of the collar, can i simply remove the wee moulded tabs gripping the leather to the moulding easi
  8. Looking for a bit if help folks I got two Mk1 8' boxes which need repaired, one has dry speaker joints - easy fix, the other needs calibrating as anything after 3 feet doesn't register with box/collar with new batteries etc Any ideas if its possible to diy re-alibrate the box or does it look like a component failure? Like to have a bash at fixing myself so any ideas welcomed Thanks in advance Rb

  10. Makes for f*cking grim reading that. It's hard not to dwell on the stress the mare must have been under during all this, however, there is a bit of consolation that the foal has lived through the ordeal. My heart goes out to you mate, it really does, I'm sittin here raging after reading this, horses are highly sensitive animals and this is plainly barbaric. Does absolutely no good to the genuine working dog mans image and play's right into the hands of the other side. I sincerely hope you are successful in catching whoever these f*ckers are...you will one day ,what goes around com

  15. Thanks for that explanation, I've tried a few different knots on scrap pieces to get a feel for them and it sounds "similar" to what I'm doing. I'll try it your way next, probably easier when I've got a needle n hemp in my mit Cheers again Rb
  16. Leeview, When using the carrick, do you twist the loop you are tying onto to get the knot to sit correctly, by this i mean to get the "bitter" end under the "standing" end? I'm sheeite at explaining but thsi might give a better idea of what I mean: http://www.animatedknots.com/carrick/index.php Thanks
  17. Ive tried several manufacturers Gaoler, however, keep going back to Meindl boots Hi legs are the Meindle Douvre Extreme's, and the Mid boots are the Meindl Borneo MFS, both boots have lasted me fine and fit great straight out the box. Plenty of digging in them and they have lasted fine so far, well worth the £££'s Best to try as many as you can though, fit is the most important rigboot

  20. No luck mate but at least I got an "out loud" laugh there, pure frustration no doubt, hope you weren't swearing...... Suppose the big buck soothed the mood a bit though, nice one! Some new nets on order then is it? Rigboot
  21. What about using a probe to help listen to what's going on underneath? When I first started I was like you, couldn't afford a locator and found the probe (basic stainless bar with T-Handle)2 feet long or there abouts, was pretty accurate in following the fert or coney's progress and not pin point but helped with starting a dig Sometime a good dog will also be able to tip a wink aswell, intuition, just like women sometimes! My old mentors dog would know where the action was all the time and usually, not always mind, but usually predict the area where the next bolt would be from too.
