The very mention of the word Plummer or Hancock fetches a lot of dickheads out of the closet wanting to have them hung drawn and quarted for the least pssible thing. Fact is Hancock does breed a lot of dogs every year some good some bad but on the other hand the people whe buy them aren't always the sharpest tool in box in regards of fetching the best out of their puppies.During last 15 years I have had two half cross border greyhounds off him, neither of them were world beaters but just honest to goodness working dogs working to lamp and longnets ferreting.Fact is generally you get out of you

When a dog injures itself and the injury reoccurs it is usually because there hasn't been enough time for it to heal and repair itself.Vets usually [good ones]prescribe the right treatment and for the injury you describe painkillers and antiinflammotry tablets are the norm.A week isn't a long time in terms of healing, try a little bit longer then start roadwork[most important part of a running dogs wellbeing]then start galloping before moving onto a few slips. If you don't allow enough time for an injury to heal and you keep running it and it keeps breaking down you could end up with a perma

Over years I have had many broken and dislocated toes on my lurchers,so have picked up a bit of experience. You dont say where the toe is broken which is important.I used a greyhound vet to treat any injuries and he said if the break or dislocation was at the first joint then the toe was better off amputated to that joint.A dogs running abilities will not be affected too much, but the problem is when a toe is removed it places pressures on adjacent toes when turning etc.So i ended up with more missing toes. If I had a break now I would treat the dog with painkillers and antiinflammotry tablet

Was told by a vet years ago to dilute it down and spray dogs and kennels as it contained similar ingrediants to nuvantop.I used it for years with no ill effects. BUT and a big but duramitex is a banned substance due to it being an organophosphate[nerve agent].So basically if you breathe it in your body has difficulty expelling the chemical from your body.So use it at your peril.

Can we please have some more jokes to cheer us all up

You were lucky you spotted the ferrets early enough to do something about it.When it is warm like it is now we have hoticultural netting we hang from the hutches which lets air circulate but stops suns strong rays getting through. Yung ferrets can't regulate there body temperature like older ones and soon sucumbe to effects of heat. The best thing to do is put the hosepipe on any effected to fetch body temperature down quickly and force water into them.We use a shringe to do this, force the mouth open and get as much fluid into them as you can, then put them somewhere cooler.Keep repeating hos

If you have permission off farmers and the land has been approved for use of a firearm you can shoot on there without your ticket being an open one. This is a bit of a grey area but think it's right what i have just put.

There are some good bands about today. The problem is as we get older what we think makes a good band is different to what younger people think makes a good band.I was weaned on Jam, Sex Pistols,Sham 69,stranglers,specials, Madness e.t.c but can appreciate most of new bands like cold play, arctic monkeys and Kaiser chiefs. If you don't like some music don't pull spots off that others like. it could be worse Abba could be making a comeback[only joking]

DOGS STOLEN ,doncaster,south yorkshire
Mark.B replied to YORKIBOY's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
When any dogs are stolen and cars have been seen hanging around lets have descritions of people cars reg plates e.t.c on forum .It might jog someones memory and lead to some useful info.A lot of dogs have been stolen hear, they aren't all going over water. If everybody keeps there eyes and ears open some info will come forward. If anybody is ever found for definate to have been stealing dogs they want a visit from a team of lads off hear and persuading not to do it again!!!! -
I gut rabbits in the field without getting blood or smell on my hands.Simply make a cut from bottom of belly to ribcage grab hold of back legs with one hand and shoulder with other, slightly bend the rabbit and give it a little shake the guts will start to drop out.Place your knife blunt side onto stomach and draw rabbit back the stomach and guts will come out without having to touch them.this method is as quick as any other once you get the hang of it.

£52 for a family isn't cheap. But once in there is plenty of fieldsports activities to enjoy. Some of stalls tend to be a bit pricey but if i want anything i will barter, you will be surprised how much they will come down[remember at moment it is a buyers market]. You know full well you will get ripped off on food and drink so just take your own.

Hi Lucky You don't mention which joint the dislocation is on.I f it is on the first joint in the past my vet would advise to have the toe removed on the first joint. The only problem with removing toes is that when the dog turns it puts more pressure on other toes risking fracturing or dislocating them.Today if a dog of mine had a fracture or dislocation on toes i would leave it to calcify and let it learn to addapt
