Has it got the blood of a buck bred dog called max in him mate? -
at present I have two lurchers, four terriers and three ferrets and the mrs has a saluki, all the dogs are kenelled outside but all are worked as hard as i can, I set aside what I consider the right amount of time each day to spend with each dog especially the lurchers as I try and keep on top of the obidience factor all year round. When i get home from work I'm generally outside exercising. cleaning etc till dark but its my life and I wouldn't have it any other way, people say I f&@K oubout with my dogs too much but I don't think anyone can!! As long as you have enough time and money to g

thanks for that mate, Kirton as in just South of Boston? never heard of the vet but definitely worth looking into, thanks again

My Mrs got a full saluki bitch bred by that famous dog dealer Mr French, he coursed it a bit I think but didn't treat her great so we got it to give it a bit better life style, she's working out great, sticks to the Mrs like glue (all because its been shown a little TLC), has been out for a mooch with myself and rest of dogs and is doing well, had her out on lamp a couple of times and she's taken to that real well, she only about 24inch black and tan, she's quite small but fairly quick of the mark etc, at 3 years old we've got plenty of running left in her, time will tell, bring on Winter!!!!!

Thanks for the reply's fella's, much appreciated.

Was recently watching the above and after Blondies second run you can see Alan Sankey with a spray bottle massaging the contents over the dogs coat and muscles. You'll have to excuse my ignorance fell's as haven't done much coursing but what will have been in that bottle? Will it have been an animal safe form of say 'Deep heat'?

A bitch i have had a similar problem on her back earlier this year mate, nu-stock did the job and hair is on its way back!

one story I always remeber my uncle telling me was when he re-tired a little jack russell bitch at the age of thirteen, he never did much with her so she hadn't had a hard life by most people standards, but she was always a grand little bitch for moving cubs when the need arose, they once put her in a place and she bolted the vixen relatively quickly, the bitch stayed in for another 30mins, thinking something had gone amiss because she stopped baying they started to dig! what they found was 'spider' huddled up to four cubs as if she was keeping them warm, they retired her after that day as it

oh my good god!! don't suppose you had the energy to tally up what you got in the end? looks like a hell of a day, get them from a farm mate or pheasent cover?

Was there at the weekend, good to see some genuine lads with genuine dogs kicking about, weather was bloody terrible but you can't have it all!

cheers for teh reply's fella's. He reckons its def acidosis, and that it may be a re-occuring thing!! Just spoke to my vets who aren't really working dog people and asked if they could give me what I needed without x-rays, observation and a fortune being spent and their going to get back to me this savo. I will ask what the possibility of it being a trapped nerve is though when they see her later. Thanks again
-
Just been told by the trainers thats its ACIDOSIS and this usually occurs 48 hours after tehy've over exurted themselves. He says I must give her an alkaline solution nasap then get her to the vets for anti-inflamitary and a steriod injection. Then not let her out for 2 weeks tehn not to exercise her off lead for at least 2 months, once this is out the way gardually build fitness up to optimum before even thinking about running her, and then try and keep her permently fit throughout. Just shows how complacent you can get, I thought she was still fairly fit!! Message to all you guys and

Let my 2 year old bitch out of the kennel for a run this morning and notice she wasn't walking right. Went to pat her on the back as I do every morning and she yelped like f*@K. Her back seems to be hurting her from her shoulders down to tip of her tail and she winced every time I put even the slightest but of pressure on it. So I let her empty herself and put her back in kennel. Am sat at work at moment trying to think what could be wrong before I take her to see a mate who has raced greyhounds for many years. At first I thought she'd pulled the muscle as this is what appears to be hurting he

like red merle said mate a good beddy/whippet should suit your requirements, bred right i'm sure they'd have the determination etc that you are after! and it saves breeding dogs which might not find homes!
-
My Mrs has got a beddy whippet x with a big black fell type of dog, the mother was the whippet cross and the father the pat, the father was an out and out earth dog and the mother a cracking little lamping bitch. The offspring well if i said they were ugly you wouldnt know the half of it!! The face of whippet, 16" to shoulder with a curly tail and slighlty broken coated! they were an accident obviously but the mrs wanted a pet she could take out ratting and occasionally come ferreting and bit of lamping. I have to say the bitch (the dog that is) is only just a year old and has been a cracking

sorry mate bit of a miss understanding i think! when rats were mentioned earlier thought it was in context of the smelly black variety!! you know when northern counties are at brandy wharf again? and yep am in lincs (lovely it is)

Thanks mate, appreciate it, can you remember with which pack? Been once when I was younger with a pack that mate at a cider pub?! Think it was Gainsborough way on but not sure, I know couple of years ago a different pack came just north of Lincoln but I didn't hear very good reports? The pubs called the Brandy Wharf, between Gainsborough and Market Rasen, there are a couple of rat packs around Lincolnshire including our own. Thats it, Brandy Wharf, good cider! Don't suppose you could pm me wih any contact numbers just so i could see about a day or two out to pass the months by t

Haven't been for years but remember my dad taking me down to somerset each year when me and my bro were little. Being in Lincs we don't have many meets near us, think the nearest is teh 4 counties? anybody know how to find out a list of meets? Cheers
