On seeing her and her terriers around the shows over the last couple of years I can honestly say I have never seen anything which made me think sh'ed done and hour let alone a days digging in her life!! If i\m wrong then I apologise but please!!!
-
you have a pm mate
-
good post vinnie, think that sums it all up (from my point of view anyway!!)
-
Good honest post Shamo. ALimac that is also a good point, I have witnessed on many occasions a russell that could be called off, if not called off would stay all day, but that is the only dog I have witnessed that will do that.

I agree with Wink Hounds earlier post. I have acouple of average digging dogs which to me is the true test of a terrier, don't get me wrong. I do also have a failed digging bitch which didn't make the grade this dog I use to my advantage, big places, bolts for hounds (pre ban) etc. they have there place. But I wouldn't ever breed for one i.e. non stayer to bayer, you diminish the working terriers ability, like someone mentioned earler best to best everytime but if you can utilise a dog of this kind do so, a failed one I mean.

Terrible news, my thoughts are with his friends and familly.

Inducing (?) a bitch's season
Pumper dog replied to Pumper dog's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
thanks for the reply's people. confirmed my thoughts really, had her in with one of my in season terrier bitches but never worked. I'm not too fussed just somebody the other day mentioned th epossibilities as my bitch usually only comes into season in July, the dog I want to use is getting on in years!! and I only have the one lurcher so timing is quite important but i certainly do not want to risk any health problems!! thanks again -
Does anyone know anything about inducing a bitches season? I've heard of it with farm stock and race horses but not dogs. Can it be done, is it detremental to a bitch's health? what are the costs? What are peoples thoughts? I know it is not natural.

Almost immediately after moving into teh neighbourhood! They loaned me there truck while I was there so I could go meet people, I remeber all the time being invited round for bbq's and nights out with the friends and familly of people my aunt new. I had a great time met some of the most fantastic people and as you have said the lifestyle is aewsome, Wished I'd had the chance to go find some pigs thoug

some excellent replys fella's and from I can gather everybody is singing from the same him sheet. What I was trying to get across was that even though they may increase in popularity its not necesarrily for the worse if they are kept by lads who know how to treat/work them and I would like to think that the amount of genuine lads in the game outways the bad, but thats another story!! Like someone has said if they know what they've got and only allow suitable people access to breeding then it can't be all bad. Stabs your article on the bitch you owned has spurred my interest even more, as s

I note your comments JD and stabs and I agree with your sentiments 100% but thats not to say people are not able to have an interest in the breed. I am curious as I've heard a few fella's that have seen these dogs work comment on how good a well bred wheaten x can be! I'm interested in them as a versatile cross. I have two friends with lurchers that have 1/4 wheaten in them and it really shines through which leads me to believe the wheaten blood in them is from the right stock, they are both bright intelligent dogs with a lot of drive!. The only way somebody such as myself is going to learn, p

Thanks for the reply staffy 1, when you say the dogs turned out well, does that mean the bitches have thrown lighter, not as big etc. Would they have made inferior fox dogs compared to the dog pups, guess what I'm trying to get at is, is there a large difference in size between the dogs and bitches out of teh same litter? All the best

TC all the best to your daughter and your familly! To dodger & tommy, well what can I say that everybody else hasn't.........awesome.......hat off to you both.
