  1. Well to carry on my new boy theme, coudl anyone give me advice on the best way to clean and maintain my shotgun. Currently I am brushing through with the bronze brush and then pulling through with the wool mop. Going into storage, in go the snap caps. Havent had the gun long, so I guess it will need a good grease up at some point again, and an oil. I have a more extensive cleaning kit on order. Look forward to hearing your advice.
  2. Me and my friend (pictured) were out shooting this evening with our new guns. We initially started off after rabbits, what we were used to shooting, but then it soon turned into a rough pigeon shoot. I'd never shot live birds before, but managed 3 pigeons which I didnt think was too bad going. Overall we had 7 rabbits and 3 woodies. I really got on with the Lanber well, with a 75% hit rate .
  3. yeah the recoil sets the gun for the next barrel mate Thanks very much Ricky, set my mind at rest now!!! Still a bit new to this....
  4. Just bought some snap caps for the Lanber. Pop them in and fired it, only one barrel "fires". I had to manually switch to the other barrel to make it "fire". When out shooting with live, I didnt have to do this... Does the gun require the actual firing of a live round to make the switch to the second barrel? Or has something gone awol already?
  5. Geoff, Thank you for your reply, it gave me the push I needed to go with my instincts and buy it, and I am very impressed with the way it feels. Will go for a walk about the farm this evening and put a through shells through it . I would say it is a bit short for me at the moment, but I have been used to shooting something a bit short for a few years now, though I shoot better with the stock longer. I have bought a 2" slip on butt extension just to see how it feels before getting one done properly. If I had new money I would certainly go with a s/h beretta. My friend as i happens is
  6. Hi all, I am after a bit of advice regarding the Lanber Field Deluxe I am thinking of buying. I have been around the gun shops for a few days now and all I can say is that choice is very limited in my price range (sub £300). One of the nicest guns I found was a Lanber Field Deluxe 28" O/U M/C. They dealer wanted £350 for it but I managed to beat him down to 300 plus a load of extras in, and I am tempted in going for it. Lanber seem to have a good reputation for simple guns. I dont want anything fancy, just a solid gun that will perform reasonably well in the field and in the trap al
  7. Hello all. I am Tim, and have just graduated from university. I have been shooting for a while now, air rifle and shotguns, as well as leading my school's rifle target shooting club. I have only just got my shotgun certificate though, and am thinking of purchasing a second hand Lanber Field Deluxe, (I will take this to the releveant section!). Anyway, just thought I would say hi and introduce myself!
