    Might be a good idea to invest in some insect repellant. It works for me. Smells horrible, but it beats being eaten. There's a bay up near Arran, I believe, called Midge Bay. I understand that people were tortured to death there by being pegged out naked on the sands to be eaten alive by the midges!

    think this applies to me too ............ and me! especially when the inanimate world fights back! Do you ever feel like they must have been observing you for the Victor Meldrew scripts? Do your family buy you the "Grumpy Old Men" books for Christmas and then laugh about it all day?

    You got me on that one! There are quite a few man-traps out there for the unwary! Wouldn't it be nice if everything were handled sensibly, simply, and sensitively? I have to admit that my local team here in Surrey do seem to do exactly that, and I can add helpful, and willing to take the time to answer questions carefully and accurately too.

    Reloading Manual by Speer............ has many pages about handloading - how to do it, suggested loads, background information about primers and powders. I found one s/h about a year ago for £1 in a charity shop. It doesn't have to be the latest edition, the information about reloading doesn't change.     I have been a target shooter for many years and have only just applied for vermin control on my FAC. When my FAC returned from variation, the phrase "and for ZEROING on RANGES or LAND at...... and on any other land deemed suitable by the Chief Officer of Police for the area where the land is situated and over which the holder has lawful authority to shoot." was printed as an additional condition no.5. (The capitals are as shown on my FAC.) I didn't have to ask for zeroing. (I didn't think to ask for zeroing, to be perfectly honest. I assumed I would do it at my shooting club on the ran

    Very sensible advice. Mine is a 7 gun (extra deep) to take the scopes. Buy the biggest you can afford, it will probably be cheaper than buying an extra one later!
