Sorry for hijacking the thread mate ..Just nice to get others opinions on different dogs.I know there were a couple of lads on the Pat site that knew A Shaw and his dog Winston.

That would be good see if it is the same dog.I had a job to move some pigs off a building site years ago .for a pest control firm ,they had to get a special license. Took the winston dog with me.

fair comment .lakeland sire and dam black and tan throw a tri col terrier 90% white what is it - lakeland whos giz a feck so long as it does for you workwise- in the show ring its a russell or russell type with the right paperwork it a parson russell call em what you like white crossbred terrier there could be ward blood in there to good friend of gould most of gouldys russelss, came out of my old mans lines, craking pups earth, like the pup with the black ear and half mask, cant wait to see them when there 6 or 7 weeks. some good blood in these russells lads. Doubt he would be in the (pedigree) as Kenterfox but Id put money he is in there going back .Ive some paperwork here that would probably run in line with that breeding all the way back to some of my old smooths .Decent types of that type

Looking at them again I think I know where the line does come from ..Not too many miles away from the DD Hunt .If Im right they are from a line of hardish dogs?Someone who has some very nice newish kennels and did have some well worked stuff.Flint would be in them and pieman going back.Seen a few of that line work and they do the job well if not a bit on the hard side

We all work our dogs differently so any input from me would be pointless.There will always be those who spoil it for the majority .I like to let the game run but sometimes its not possible due to landowners or damage etc..I always have a sidearm with me for despatching the quarry when needed.I have often taken younger lads out with me and it helps an old codger like me with the digging .But there is always the problem of some going back on your permission which does make a lot of the lads wary .Hard one to call really .Myself I think it will probably get a lot tougher on the digging side an

They stay longer than russells to ground and are better tempered than the fells and pats .Proper dogs plummers best there is .
