  6. went out friday night to scotland ,the wind was howling all i hoped for was the rain to keep off ,arrived at first farm and spotted a fox across a main road , had to play the call at full vol because the wind was that strong, this fox came in like a train then i lost sight of it behind a wall ,and before i knew it it showed about 60 yds away to the left down i got and down went fox No 1 ,after about 45 mins of calling in diferent areas of the farm i headed back to the vehicle i saw a fox near the farm , again on the call went and again in it came ,fox No 2 in the bag , went onto the next far
  7. at one time i didnt think moderators were worth the money until a shooter i know showed me the result of having one fitted to his 243 & the difference from having & not having was very good, that was it i purchaced a t-8 and had it fitted to my 223 by a competent gunsmith although it was a little expensive it was well worth the money , would recomend one to you ,but get it fitted by a good gunsmith
  8. look's like the sit and wait aproach work's well for you frank ,must be plenty fox's about for you ,always good when you get a good night especialy shooting one at the range you shot one at ,as for fox's its nothing to go out and see upto a dozen fox's in one night ,not where i live as there are to many persuing charlie boy , but plenty in scotland and the north east of england, once again nice shooting frank

  10. this was the result of a night's lamping in the south west of scotland ,when i arived the weather wasnt to bad, then from no where the heavens opend ,it p****d down for about half an hour ,when it finaly eased of i went for it ,after a while calling a fox showed its self, unfortunatley not giving a safe shot lucky fox, next i went to an area of the land that has some good vantage point's again gave a call , another fox responded stopping behind a hedge to thick for it to get through ,then it made off to my left right where the wind was blowing ,fortunatley for me but not the fox she showed
  11. gues it must be down to individual firearms departments
  12. i tried to apply after two year and although i have farms in the suoth west of scotland and the north east of england ,they said that it had to be a full time job of pest control before they would grant an open certificate before my first renewal
  13. just received my open licence this year ,and beleive me it saves a lot of hassel not having to wait for the firearms dep clearing land then giving you the yes or no reply ,have lost permision because police couldnt contact farmer's , but now that isnt a problem , had to wait for my first renewal before it was granted
  14. your right about the luck frank ,we often travel over 200 mile round trip to shoot fox's ,ocasionaly only getting two fox's as was the result last weekend ,then we can travel about 100 mile and shoot over half a dozen & be back home by five or six in the morning

  19. Saturday night turned out to be one of the easiest night's lamping we have had in a long time , these fox's were taken in the south west of scotland , the first farm one fox was shot at about eighty yards ,my mate had all the time in the world , the fox just lay at the botom of a hedge takeing no notice of us at all ,asta lavesta fox this was within about half hour of ariving on the farm , onto the next farm while driving down the lonning to this next farm a fox crossed over and into the field we parked up and of we went ,my mate gave a call and this fox came running in like a train i got down
  20. i have done a lot of pest control for farmers at night with the lamp on ferral pigeon ,this particular farmer was getting hit hard with them , we visited on numerous times with shotgun's in the daytime but couldnt make any impact on them , while on our way home we saw a couple drop into an old building , we saw the farmer and informed him this is probably there night time roost ,he contacted the owner and we got permision to go into what turned out to be an old school , when we enterd the building it was a right mess wits pigeon s**t all over the place after an hour or so we baged a large amou
