  1. IF this is not a wind up then this lad is very green and the lurcher people on here can give sound advice but be gaurded in what you say no doubt there are anti field sports people in aussy land.
  2. radio 4 -- mine have it on day and night .. don't let the light into the kennel at night close the door and cover any opening dogs do bark and howl at the moon light because of shadows and fear they become the lookout for the pack had this problem a couple of times and makeing the dog feel secure stopped it.
  3. rebell you are thinking about safety and that as it should be and as wakey points out ground game holds more danger than flying game but if you can get out and about with a experienced shot gun man/woman they will help you understand about unloading when getting over obsticles muzzle awareness etc. not to sidetrack this thread but the last time i had to renew my shot gun cert firearms officer told me that in law you don't have to have a reason to posses a shotgun he said you might just like to polish them or just be a collecter but it helps if when asked that you do have a reason to own a sh
  4. Hi i am no expert but as far as i know you do not have to have a reason or land to shoot over to apply for a shotgun cert.

  9. Can we take it you are surrounded by other shoots as it seems you shoot about 100% of the birds that you put down? The bag doe'snt just consist of birds and we do have a good stock of wild birds on the shoot as i have stated in this post.So if you read the post properly you would not have to make any sarky coments.
  10. We have a place in our little team on our shoot for a gun, who must have a working gundog to shoot over and also beat with. THE SHOOT is in the scottish borders near to the town of Duns,we add 200 pheasants and 50 partridge to the wild game thats allready on the place .We shoot 8 saturdays as walk and stand + 3 or 4 days rough shooting and 4 evenings duck flighting after a walk and stand day. The bag normally consists of pheasant partridge woodcock snipe duck hare and rabbit etc. average bag is 25/30 head.the cost for this is £400.(YOU WOULD MAKE THE NO. OF GUNS UP TO TEN.)We would consider 2

Running inn not picking fur, spitting out retreives before coming to hand and the most flustrating habit of stoping in mid hunt and looking skyward at nowt. Now then somthing's clicked the last three sats out hunting bunnys with her she's got better and better first she stopped running inn still just stands and keeps an eye on the flushed game but not running in given me a chance of
  13. Hi SAm try to get in touch with your local gundog club you will find link in the kennel club site .ask them when will they be having their next spanial trial and go and see spanials at work go with gut instinct with the spanial type you like remember you will have to live with this choice for a long time don't rush into it as it's allready been said you want a worker not just a pet. good luck.
  14. when the oldest dog i work gets to 9 or 10 years old i start to think about its replacement I normaly breed my own pups or buy from people i know, but the young bitch i wanted to breed from died and no one i know seems to be having a litter this year So i am looking at adds for ess now i might get some stick from the sprocker springador etc . owners. But are addvertisers who state they have pedgree sprockers for sale and yes the sire and dam are kk reg. genuinly think the pups are pedigree or is it a way of getting new potential dog owners to buy.As for the prices asked ! £450/550 for x breed
  15. shotup can you give a little more info on pups how are they bred what lines just to give me an idea of what type they are any bitches in the litter and when are they ready to go thanks.
  16. HI Kiy its not wise to take on a pup at one year old only if you know its history or the seller has told you the truth about the pup ie part traind or not touched. anyway dont let the pup have its freedom untill you can control it with the basics if you can control it in your garden then you have a chance with it on the outside but be warned give a cocker half a chance to be disobedient it will be and thats the start of a slippery slope.trainers do let spanials have their head and allow them to hunt freely but this is done in a controled enviroment like a rabbit pen and mostly when a pup is i

  19. geordie i only asked as she looks alot like one of my bitches. Shes out of buccleuch and toonarmy lines don't know how anyone can judge a dogs ability by looking at a photo +ess come in many shapes and sizes even out of the same litter.but i will say this it don't matter how much you paid for her if she was sold as kc regesterd the breeder is out of order if he/she can't produce the paperwork for your bitch you should insist on this because if you decide to take a litter of her you won't be able to kc regester them. ps not out

  21. hi Aaron put some dummy eggs under her then take some string and and make a tether tie one end to a stake in the ground and then every morning lift the hen of the nest and loop the tether arround her leg and place her on a perch (upside down pale or just something to get her off the ground ) she should start to prean herself and clean herself out after ten minutes or so take the tether off and place her back into the run she should fead and then go back on the nest she will protest at first but after a while she will get used to the routine if you do nothing and she is left to brood she will
