Anyone Near Berwick Upon Tweed/ Scottish Boarders That Can Help ?
hily replied to foxtails's topic in General Talk
try putting scottish borders as berwick is closer to that area -
Ok to pull this thread back on track what would you pay for a dog say in you opinion from good stock and to expand do you think the price varies from region to region and to add some perspective the last dog I bought cost me £450 plus two round trips of 400 miles to see the pup and then to collect it .and that was four years ago. I could not pay that sort of money now as the cost of living has gone up so much.

Its not just expense its risk you think you have a good bitch so you line it doesn't take so you get another go still no pups stud fee lost worst thing the bitch dies from complications due to being pregnant then all the other problems that could happen to bitch or pups. AS FOR PRICE WELL ITS GOVERNED BY WHAT'S IN FASHION FOR THE HIGH END PRICES then you'v got workers or good lines again you can only charge what you think( my case genuine gundog) owners are prepared to pay then the others crosses and the like to me if you have to pay say £100 then it stops you from owning a dog on a whim.

you get what you pay for I don't think giving pups away for free gets them the best owners cos if they didn't lay out any money on the pup some people will just get rid of the dog if they fail to train it. That's how some folks are wired .But if you have paid a few bob for a pup at least its a commitment and an incentive to keep the dog and try your best to get a working dog/ partner for you money P.S. got to say that I am bias as I do have pups for sale then again this is my third litter in 35 years of keeping dogs and if you take the hours spent looking after a litter plus stud and vet b

I buy kc reg dogs why well I can't get to see to many working spaniels and the the ones I do see are mostly kc reg so for a greater choice I go for proven stock I can trace and as this type of paperwork is provided by the kc then I have to use it as I don't know of any other organisation that can provide me with a dogs lineage it takes me up to three years to get my gun dog to work well for me so I try to have as few false starts with pups as I can. I don't go inn for hearsay about how good so and so's dog is as lots on this site know how many folk brag about a dog just to get rid of it.Not

I'm not a running dog man but I work spaniels and if you know what spaniels are like you'd know they can't stop hunting when of the lead so it's a walk at the coolest time of day and lot's of swimming .If you own a dog it's your job to know how to look after them and what's good or bad for them they ain't robots to switch on when you want to go out and play.cos injured dog = no hunting at all or you could just be an idiot and run them into the ground then go and get a new one.! As for hunting this time of year you get inexperienced young animals with no stamina and an easy catch.as said no r

just got back to work after 4 wks sick had a return to work medical told the Doc i was happy to return to work but still felt a bit pain and my neck and shoulders where a bit stiff she told me to do some exercise and maybe join a gym I told her I had a work out every shift at work lifting gear into van and working with scaffold etc. that's how I hurt me back So she then tells me to go to the baths and swim thats when I asked her if she was insured cos if i go and jump into the pool I will probably drown as I can't swim and wore lass will go for compensation that's when she told me it

Lets tell you first I may have pups to sell this year and yes I would like to offer them on this site why well first of all I want them to go to a working home so as shooters use this site it seams to me to be a good place to sell. also I don't want to sell to novice owners plus I know if buyers have any question and they post them on this site I know my reply would be vetted by those who know about dogs and they would soon point out if I was trying to pull a fast one.So if I was peddler they could find out by looking at my profile THEN POSTS/ TOPICS IF A warning apeared with add for buy

Out With Rimfire......a Warning
hily replied to MR TEA POT's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
IF walking dogs with you and cattle go for you LET the dog go it will get away you might not. -
camokevJust to expand the idea for me it won't be training .I only have room for a couple of dogs also to exercise I have pens with kennels plus a grass run so no walkies unless asked for. Liddlsdale I agree with you working dogs can be spoilt very quickly by folk who think they are being kind to the poor unloved gundog. So up to know three kennels could be available to shooting/gun dog owners looking for sensible places for the dog that works for them.

Available Is There Any Where On The North East Who Knows Where Rabbits Are
hily replied to roosika's topic in Rabbit Shooting
try to find a beating job at a local shoot you probably by pellets from a gunshop they will have contacts with local keepers so ask in there when you are spending a bit of money . Some shoots have to keep the vermin down around farm buildings as part of the lease ask if you can join the team who do it offer to help clear any feral pigeons or rats from the barns with air rifle but make sure you let them know you know how to avoid damage to roofs with your gun.You can only try if you don't ask you will never know. good luck
