  1. hello the lads his whippet is doing fine its about the same age as my new beddyx and most people on her will have had pups at about 6 to 7 weeks.
  2. right lad these two dogs are 20 inch and its nothing to do with size if they got it in them there be good dogs. also depends what sort of dog you wont and where you hunt. big fields wont a big dog. little fields small fast dog.
  3. hello what hight is the dog. and how he breed
  4. get a lurcher or you can buy some rabbits of me for £3.50 thats the going rate where i live all been caught by my soft mouth beddyx on the lamp. get a new man so you can have ferrets sure thiers loads of people on hear single
  5. Most ferrets will kill rabbits and you dont just have the locator on for rabbits that the ferret catches and lays up on because after a lot of time waiting they do come out unless stuck in a block end. a lot of the time ferrets get stuck because they cant climb back up out of the holes that go done to the next level some times. Also i have done a bit of ferreting over summer and i find after a bit the ferrets dont both with the little ones. but only do it for pest control. The best people to ask about ferreting is the lads that have been doing it for years. But remember different people ferr
  6. Everyone to there selfs but for me I would prefer to see my lurchers catch one rabbit then to shoot 10. Because most people can shoot a shotgun or rifle and hit something. But not everyone can train a dog to hunt and catch rabbits. Anyway people thats what I think but you all heard the saying what ever floats your boat. And all the best getting a rifle.
  7. i all ways feed mine after a days hunting or night out on the lamp
  8. hello all what do you think the best food for a puppy is. IT is a lurcher pup and am thinking of what to feed her on because i wont her to do well.
  9. One thing what i find with shows is a older working lurcher at say 4 will never win a show because a good working dog will start to get knocked up feet. scares from fence and taking foxes before the ban and cuts from hitting cover and so on. why doesnt the hunting life have a big working dog show where its for working dogs not polished up lurcher that have never seen a rabbit. also its only a bit of fun at the end of the day. For most of us on hear its all about the dog catching and working well. not how it looks and does at shows
  10. hi mate wont be long to you get your pup and am getting mine so they both be the same ages to start off working cant wait. we will have a good season with my two old beddys still there still got loads of life in them. they will teach the new pups the roll of marking as well
  11. my little bitch tryed racing but she run up to the hedge to try turn it out in to the field. where the other dogs just ran striaght o well mine catch the bunny rabbits and thats all what matters really
  12. i live on a farm and work on one but i wouldnt like it for a proper job because the moneys crap and your tired down with milking and things. but on the good side your out side in the muck. but you got to be hard because there is a lot of dead things some times over lambing time
  13. For ferreting you cant beat a bedlington x or a whippet. you have a tool for the right job and a little dog around 20 inch is what i would say for ferreting. unless its out in the middle of the fields then a big dog will be better. And if he wont's a all round dog i would say beddy grey or collie x which will make 22 or bigger. Anyway mush i no what you mean and everyones has different opinions. And i no what you mean by beddy are head strong because they don't no when to stop. Also they hunt with you not for you
  14. i would say its best to have the one dog and get it working before you get another lurcher x. because with two dogs it is a lot harder and they play up.
  15. that is a load of rubbish, the lad says he wont's a dog for ferreting so i would say bedlington blood because they got a good nose high prey drive and will ferret all day long. Also a beddyx will catch you loads of rabbits on the lamp and even foxes. my two or 3/4 bedlington 1/4 greyhound and they stand at 20 inch they are best at ferreting but catch will on the lamp because they turn fast and trust me they fly in to foxes before the ban. a whippet is a good dog to but i think there to weak to be out all the time. not had a lot to do with the collie x but i would say they would be good because
  16. hi matty it won't be long till I can come pick my pup up. Because its lurcher cross lurcher they might come out all shape and sizes. Because of the genes. Anyway i would say the percentages is what beddywhippet worked out.
  17. best night with my two bedlingtons was 13 this year had 12 and 2 11 so not done bad but my best night was 5 rabbits a fox and a hare
  18. theres no point in trying most dog men on hear will no there be no good as working lurchers on rabbits. they might be good draw dogs mind you but for running dont talk bollox
  19. i would have it but your two far away
