  1. yep Fair play mate I'm not trying to dig you out but there's impressionable kids using this forum and openly talking on the forum about tuning guns above 12ft/lb could get you in bother. bangbang will help you out via PM
  2. Do you have a current FAC
  3. The Led light you likn here also has it's limitations too, don't worry I've field tested that one too . The limitation is the LED bulbs only being able to give out 230 Lumens of light but lens technology to give (what's called in the trade throw) of the beam still will not be good enough for lamping rabbits properly. When I tested this light it did perform a little better than the Stinger. I've been messing about with high powered HID lamps but they need mega amounts of battery power to lamp all night. Still if you guys are happy with the cheaper lamps on the market that's fine But
  4. I've field tested a Stinger and think they are total POO waste of money IMO. Just save a little extra and get a proper gun lamp for bunny hunting. The stinger in the field test only had the range of 25 meters NOT 70 meters as boasted by the adverts. I'm sure this will be ok for rats in close distance work, but it's just not effective enough for rabbits in the field at the ranges needed to shoot them... My shooting pal owns a gun shop in Exeter so we have a lot of access to all products on the market, so testing them with out buying them is what we like to do This way myself and my mate c
  5. I would never go back to a spring powered gun ever, but may consider a gas ram. As for the above post saying about 200 shots Just get a Rapid and have more shots than any other rifle in the market place. I'm getting 500 shots per fill with my Rapid in .177. If the springer was the only choice I had then it would be a Weirauch of sorts as they bomb proof rifles and very accurate for a springer......
  6. Why would you even consider putting that crap in a quality barrel
  7. Hello you lovely to see you here hope you are well and had a good Christmas etc don't be a stranger As for firing the whippety thing you'll have to give it a go All was good 'til my birthday a few days ago...since then i have 2 lame horses and a leg in plaster!!! 32 ain't much fun so far!!! 8. My tactics are to light the log fire and stay indoors with a nice malt whisky
  9. Hello you lovely to see you here hope you are well and had a good Christmas etc don't be a stranger As for firing the whippety thing you'll have to give it a go
  10. I FOUND THIS AMUSING NEWS ARTICLE TODAY AND THOUGHT I'D SHARE IT WITH YOU GUYS
  11. Yes mate that the lamp on top of the rifle and there is a high powered green laser just in front of the lamp for ratting & range finding, I also use an SA80 sling for those long trips hunting to bring the rifle to a ready position in an instant...
  12. Hi you look like a man who know,s his guns Could you please tell me where i can get a decanting set for an Air Arms S510-SL.Thankyou. HAVE A LOOK HERE MATE...
  13. Went out last night with my new Cluson 6 volt lamp and I've got to say I'm well impressed with it's performance. The lamp retails at £85 but I got it for £78 the beam is a 400 meter type and has a light 6 volt battery pack unlike the heavy 12 volt battery packs.. My plot of land I have permission on is only 50 acres but it's heaving with rabbits, the summer time will have quadruple the amount on this plot. The first rabbit shot was a good text book shot with that reassuring THWACK to the bonce and it went down twitching only once courtesy of the S-TYPE. He was taken from about 45 yards a
  14. Insurance BASC etc etc will be in order if you shoot with other people and phoning ahead can only help. I have one shoot shared with a couple of other shooters and one guy we nick named stealth because he uses night vision on his 17HMR likes to know where we are with lamps. Maybe it's worth while getting to know the other shooters too, so you can exchange numbers and know what part of the shoot each person is using.....
  15. The lamp is not too bad for 30-40 yards but I've now conceded and brought a proper gun lamp now for my S-TYPE as that gun has serious range and I need to see real good. But the lamp on the ratcatcher is perfect for barns etc for ratting purposes which were this King Ratcatcher excels
  16. :victory: :icon_eek: Timelord...my comparison post [Forum: Reloading, Optics, Ammunition & Accessories · Post Preview: #863304 · Replies: 12 · Views: 314] seriously have a look at this Tescos torch...it really blows the Stinger away....white light and distance, perhaps not quite up to the build quality of the stinger...but good enough for use when hunting. i may even buy a second one to be kept in a drawer incase something untoward happens to my main one-they are that good. p.s. the distances i have put on were very conservative!!! I've been using better l
  17. The Stingers ok for rats in a small grain sheds only etc IMO as I've field tested them but they are as much us as an ashtray on a motorbike for rabbits fullstop!!! I've field tested the Deben Tracer Atom 12v and 6v (variables too) in the field and all I can say is they are JUST OK ish I'm very spoilt with my S-TYPE as I'm banging bunnies down easily at 70-90 yards all day (excuse my expression for the non Londoners here) I have made various lamps in the past, home made but in the end I had to concede to buying a proper lamp costing £85. This lamp I have now is called a Range-Lite from
  18. LOL!!! No donny I'm happy as a humble member but I think a dedicated FAC section could be the answer and obviously only an FAC holder should moderate it. Maybe even put an extra password there to access this forum so the mods know that only FAC holders will be using it..
  19. You must consider the fact in your first post you never mentioned if you had a current FAC or not, and if someone answered your question explaining how to do this to your rifle then you run the risk of non FAC holders getting silly ideas. The mods don't get on here enough to cover this large forum and if such a post was posted it could have been read by the wrong people. Not to mention this forum is used by youngsters who are still learning about this sport and the risk of giving them the info about tuning rifles is IMO totally irresponsible. This does not include the bogus accounts made here
  20. This is an illegal thread and against forum rules consider this reported to the moderators.....
  21. Sorry pal I can't help you on this one, my paper round won't stretch that far
  22. Nothing wrong with cheap guns but they are not worth fighting in a public forum over
  23. I just read that last post too Chris what are they like these kids arguing about cheap guns
  24. Shameless bump for the most important thread this week. It seems it's just not been read enough
  25. Timelord

    .25 cal?

I have a mate on another forum who shoots a .25 Rapid at 50ft/lb and it shoots as flat as a .177 in 12ft/lb and probably flatter This caliber is definately better in FAC but as others have pointed out in the humble 12ft/lb it's just a rat & ferral gun no good for long range shooting... Hyperion if you have FAC then get a Rapid and push it to 40-50ft/lb and you will never look back
