both of my interviews have been casual chats. don't worry about it. from my experience its very informal. good luck, Jack

thats a small hole for a 15 yard shot nice shooting though :good:

my favourite calibre is my pump action yoghurt rifle

Hows about a 14.5mm Dragunov anti-materiel sniper jobbie? Tho with a 7 foot barrel the slip case costs a fortune! Ric it might be slight overkill for the rabbits though. doesnt promote the shooting cause. best to stick to the .50BMG

would have to be .50BMG rabbits to rhinos

Credit to Mr L for this one You weren't "wrong" just given wrong info by the people who are meant to be enforcing the law! No need for apologies buddy Just one last point. Why not buy say 40 rounds of factory ammo. Put 20 through to bed in the barrel, 20 to zero the scope. Then you'll have 40 fire-formed cases to start rolling yer own. Ric would have been nice if i hadn't already sent off my certificate. my rifle isnt being sent until Monday so im guessing a couple of days transit. the licensing department said they would be very quick about it. cheers for the thought though.

right ive rung my licensing department and they say that my dealer was correct to do what he did. they have asked me to send in the certificate and they will change it to buy 200 hold 240 which is good but i will definitely be buying some rounds before i send it off. im also waiting on my rifle which will be in the dealers by tuesday so ill probably send it off then

Andy do you reload? if so what does your certificate state. to be honest my local dealer is usually top notch. hes started stocking federal v-shock in .17hmr especially for me because they work best in my rifle. im loathe to try anywhere else because theyre all to far and i have a loyalty to him. anyway im going to ring up my FEO today to sort all of this out.

the slope at your shooting spot must be a bit of a bugger

my certificate states that i can only buy 60 at any one time so im either going to have to send back my certificate or find out whether their regions policies allow for me to buy the bullet heads without restrictions. because they know that i intend to reload. i wouldn't have thought they'd have made a mistake. they had enough time to sort it out

finally got my certificate back today

Snap thanks but i just ordered a remington 700 sps DM to my local dealer. if its not a straight shooter i can send it back -
it states "the holder of this certificate may possess, purchase or acquire expanding ammunition, or the missiles of such ammunition, in the calibres authorised by this certificate and use only in connection with: (a) the lawful shooting of deer;( the shooting of vermin or, in connection with the management of any estate, other wildlife;©the humane killing of animals;(d) the shooting of animals for the protection of other animals or humans." thats under the conditions then under part 2 for ammunition it states ammunition including expanding ammunition and expanding missiles .243 100 t

cheers SS thanks for the help. i just rang a dealers in Ayreshire and hes sending me a brand new remington 700 sps dm on Monday morning for £495. seems cheap considering it was £665 for a standard sps with the floorpate mag at my local dealers. so im a pretty happy bunny at the moment. also links for brass? preferably Winchester or Lapua

thanks ss i thought it seemed a bit odd. how do i go about convincing my dealer that im not lying? he agreed that it was ridiculous as well but he seemed adamant he was correct.

i went to go and buy a rifle from the dealer today but after a cock up theyre ordering one in for me. anyway i have 60 to buy 100 to hold for my .243 but because im reloading im buying bullet heads instead. the dealer said that because i only have 60 to buy i cant buy a box because they come in 100's (even though i confirmed with my FEO that i would be reloading). this puzzled me because i think im right in saying that you can get bullet heads delivered to your home as long as they dont have an expansion capability so why do expanding bullets count as buying the rounds themselves. am i rig

my certificate finally came back today and because ive had some time ive been turning over a remington 700 sps in my head rather than a tikka t3 lite. the only fear i have is the lack of a free-floating barrel on the remington. how badly does it affect the accuracy and is it possible to get 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards with factory ammo because if it is ill be happy (because im reloading ). how much do remingtons usually retail for as well? tikka t3 at my gunshop goes for £660. whats the comparison?

i finally got the rest of my reloading kit today so i'll put up a few pics of the set-up when i get a minute. people who dont like cramped reloading areas will not like this one im guessing small house oh well. anyway obviously i cant wait to get going so i have a couple of questions. small or large primers? with case cleaning and case preparation, is there a set order to do it in. i have a primer pocket cleaner, flash hole uniformer tool, chamfer and deburring tool and lee zip trim to cut cases to size. any suggestions? also does anybody have any good loads i could work on as a s

Best rifle shotgun combination
arveyboy replied to f.a.c.sam's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
just about everywhere i looked and enquired. my local dealer quoted me about 610. some were about 750 but the cheapest was 600. i bet you'll find people on here who bought them for 400 pounds. its probably worth getting a tikka t3 instead. people i asked said tikka everytime -
Have seen thousands of carcasses and all caused by my hand. It doesn't put me off. I am not a detractor, I am a supporter but it doesn't help the cause when we (and I say we) glorify the damage caused by the shot. Dignity and respect for the carcass used to matter when I hunted. Like I say, not trying to annoy anyone but having been in this game for over 35 years you get to understand how the other side thinks & works. I take your point. BUT the Antis would tell me how to live my life, they would tell me that I shouldn't shoot things, and should lose my personal freedoms. They will, sa

Best rifle shotgun combination
arveyboy replied to f.a.c.sam's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
i tried looking at getting that rifle in .243. cheapest price i could find was £600. only 60 quid cheaper than a tikka t3 lite -
I'm in my mid/late 50's now. Boy did we have some fun and some narrow escapes as kids. Eg, shooting ducks of the local Nat trust lakes, nobody around then, stuck a crossbow bolt into a wagon on the M1 by accident, , played cowboys with an old No 3 garden gun, and we did actually shoot each other. Took grandads 12bore from the garden shed, we were all too scared to shoot it so tied it to a fence rail and shot it with a length of string. Got gassed in a garden shed after my cousin threw in a mole gassing stick and locked the door I could go on,but considering the old rural backgroun

speaking from the viewpoint of the modern generation i have to say that videogames are great fun. however, if given the choice i will always go out shooting or motorbiking or anything to be mischeavous outside rather than inside. i have to say im lucky in that my old man is a farmer which gives me plenty of leeway to get out and about, but, since getting my first rifle last December, i havnt touched my x-box. far more fun being outside and im just glad my dad got me into it from an early age

im guessing the side shown is their less gory side theyre heads do still appear to be......present. good shooting though
