  1. I don't think there is anything on this earth that bugs me as much as text talk! I don't even see the need for it in text messages, so when you're not short of space and you have a whole keyboard to play with, it is completely and utterly unnecessary!! I don't believe for one moment that you've ever been banned Moll! *edited to remove typo*
  2. You're not projecting a very good image of yourself Flinty. I don't like to jump onto other people's posts, but I think you need to learn a little before you start wondering about with your rifle!
  3. I've always pulled them, or used a priest, and never had any trouble with dispatching them instantly. I've never tried chinning, I'll give that a go this season and report back with my experiences!!
  4. When I'm faced with a situation like this at work, I'd bait up with an Alphachorolase, or other acute rodenticide to start with, for about a week, and I'd then change a chronic rodenticide- probably one containing either Difenacoum, as the Ditch man already suggested, or Bromadiolone. As for the ivy at the front of the house- that is almost certainly an issue!
  5. I give mine milk from time to time- too much can give them the shits though, so be careful. Ditchy's got it spot on again, the man speaks a lot of sense!
  6. I spent today scaping years worth of pigeon shit from a roof that was also littered in syringes and needles thrown from the windows of the surrounding flats. Pleasant.
  7. Looks a cracking day out that! Dogs worth their weight in gold in those situations!!
  8. Good pics and story as always Frank!
  9. Hahah, as funny as that is...I have actually done something very similar to number 5 in the past, except it wasn't in a digger bucket, but an apple box on a fork lift. All in the name of pigeon proofing. Why I did that, I will never know. I don't get paid enough to do my normal job, let alone f**k around like that!
  10. It's the old obsession with power. Theobenmike has summed it up there really- 12ft/lb is plenty for shooting airgun quarry at sensible ranges, up to 35 yards. If you want to shoot at longer ranges, get an FAC, and get yourself a rimfire. Out of interest, why would you want extra power?
  11. I haven't been on this site for a good few months- I've tend to get distracted by other things in the summer months. Since I was last a regular on here, I've secured myself a job in pest control- and just like you Ditchy, I rarely see many of my 'kills', but I'm certainly going to be adding a tape and my camera to my kit bag from now on! This is a brilliant thread lads (and ladies!), all in the proper spirit! A pleasure to read through!
  12. I use a combination of different stuff. In their bed, I use hay in winter, unless it's a particularly dusty batch, then I'll use shredded paper. In summer, they have woodshavings throughout- never had any problems with this. I've never used straw, as I was told many years ago when I first started keeping ferrets that it holds mites etc. To this day, I don't know if there's any truth in it, but it's one of those things that I've just kept in mind, as it was pretty much my first piece of ferreting advice.
  13. It's extremely sad news. Helicopter crashes are happening a bit too regularly these days.
  14. Good man Leveller! Can't wait to get out myself later this month!
  15. A mate of mine used to have one, best air rifle I've ever used. It was the mark 1, so it was ugly as sin, but once you've used one, you don't care about that!
  16. Setting up on your own when you're inexperienced isn't a good idea. Look around for jobs with the big companies- Rentokil, Eagle, Ecolab etc. The training will be excellent, and in a few years, you'll be primed to start up on your own- potentially with a client base to poach! I was determined to become a pest controller- I looked into starting up on my own, but managed to stumble into a job with the biggest company in the country, and now I'm doing work I enjoy, learning all the time and don't have to worry about not getting paid! Have a look about mate, there are always jobs comin
  17. Definitely call in the pros! A secure bait station can be fitted, so that your dogs- and non-target species will be safe, but ratty will be taken care of. And it can stay there, and mop up any others that come along! Good work with the cage trap though!
  18. bloody heck! That's probably the best thing I've ever seen. In the whole world. Ever! I wouldnt leave her mate, get her mated with a vasectomised hob, or get the jill jab.
  19. Each to their own foxlamper. Some land owners want the rabbits removed, and they don't care about the sport- so Devvo has to do as the land owner wishes, or risk losing his permission. I personally have stopped now, but if I get that call saying "we've got a big problem", I'll be there like a shot!
  20. Some of my permission is hit and miss, some is teeming, and other parts are just dead empty!
