Extra points for the use of a Partridge quote!! Good shooting mate!
-
Go for it! My ferrets absolutely love a squidger!
-
I use a Mk3. It's the first one I've owned, and I love it. I think it's excellent, very easy to use. Used a Mk1 only once, but never owned one. Seemed good too. Personally, I'd go with a Mk3, purely because they'll be much easier to get hold of!

I guess it depends on what you hope to achieve! With perseverance, you'll clear them. Personally, my goal is to catch some bunnies for a bit of sport and ferret/dog food, bun ensure there's enough to allow me to keep catching and shooting more!

Corr that second ferret is a monster! Credit to you mate!

Alright eveyone, bit of a pointless post, but just wanted to say how excited I am about the coming season. I know some of you are at it already, but I've shot one or two milky does in the past couple of weeks, so I'm going to leave it until mid september before I get started properly- maybe have a couple of hours out before that if I get a chance. Last season wasn't my best, didn't get much of a chance to go out, as since starting my job, I really started enjoying time at home- but a brief spell living and working in London has made me really appreciate where I'm from and what I do, so

One for the east anglian's on here. Does anybody have a spare pigeon cage trap that I could either buy or borrow for a month-6 weeks? If anyone can help, please reply on here or PM. I'll make sure I sort you out a drink!! Cheers Ron.

hi Liam its veils disease is transmitted to humans in the urine of infected rats.i wouldn't feed it them just in case horrible things they is hope this helps or ask in ferret section regards Davy Sorry to be a pedant Davy, but actually it's Weil's Disease- Leptospirosis. In answer to your question Liam, technically yes. A ferret will definitely nosh down on a rat, but personally you wouldn't catch me feeding my ferrets rats, not even in the hardest of times!! There's probably all sorts of disease risks involved...I'm not too sure how Weil's would affect ferrets, bu

How are you getting on with HW97K? I love Weihrauch. I use an HW95k myself, and after owning a Weihrauch I'd never ever use another springer. I found the 97 a bit heavy when I tried one, thats why I went for the 95, but if it works for you, thats all that matters! All the best with it, happy shooting!!

Hope you find her mate!

Whole carcass will have everything that's needed for a healthy diet. Just take the guts out and let them at it. It's definitely important that they get some bones and fur/feather too. I occassionally let mine have a raw egg as well.

Quite so, mate. And ye free to sell them. Free to buy them. Just god help ye if ye caught Using them. But this whole concept isn't About Pest Control, is it? Let's not even pretend to kid ourselves. No. This sort of shit just taps right in the spreadingly prevelant mind set we're seeing today. That same mindset which calls for a Pit Bull Terrier or close cross to be taken on a fox dig. Called a " Draw Dog " and used to 'control' a seventeen pound vixen, once she's been dug to - as 'The Boyz' stand round watching what the 65 pound of muscle driven teeth do to that cat sized creature.

what national pest control companies ?
Ron Weasley replied to a topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Cannon are the third biggest pest control company, after Rentokil, and Ecolab. The only difference is that they are privately owned and do not do domestic work. Do you work for Cannon, per chance? haha. I wasn't suggesting for a moment that they weren't a big company, simply stating that I don't know much about them! -

Where abouts are you based mate? I might be able to send a bit more specific info your way. The big ones are Rentokil, Ecolab, Mitie (formerly Eagle Pest Control). Igrox are growing incredibly well, as are NBC. Cannon are a big company, but I'm not sure what their portfolio is like. Hope thats some help! -
It might be worth setting some live catch traps nearby mate. Hope you get him back.

Happy days! Glad for you mate! Hope he's healthy!

Well said Stubby!...I've just discovered this fecking ridiculous topic and I can't believe what I'm reading ... A muzzle would not stop the ferret staying down and worrying the rabbit so you would possibly still have to dig if you were impatient. Maybe I'm over suspicious but!...When a new member comes on and asks strange or provocative questions I wonder if there's a hidden agender,...if you get my drift! Particularly when they have a name like kill_that_rabbit, or whatever it is. I might be wrong, it could just be that he's new to the game and a bit naive. If that's the ca

Ok...the first thing I'd think about is whether you're going to get hobs or jills. I personally keep both, and have worked both equally as successfully. Some people prefer jills, others hobs. I guess its just preference. What you have to consider is that jills will come into season, and need to be mated with a vasectomised hob, or given a 'jill jab' by the vet to bring her out of season, otherwise she could very easily pick up some nasty infections. Of course, you can get round this, by getting them spayed Personally, I think far too many ferrets are bred every year, and that

I've had a deep dig for a lost collar before. I thought I had it bad, but it least it wasn't under a road!! Some of these things couldn't be made up! Good photos though, thanks!

Just don't. Do not even think about using a muzzle. I could list the disadvantages, but I really don't have the time. Seriously, forget that idea in an instant. Don't do it.

Help wanted in starting up in pest control.
Ron Weasley replied to a topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
To be honest mate, I think your best bet would be to get in with one of the big boys. Get in touch with Rentokil, Ecolab, Mitie, Igrox are any of the big companies. They have the highest staff turnover, and the most frequent opportunities. I know this may not be what you have in mind, but these companies will put you through your BPCA Parts 1 and 2 (or BPCA affiliated equivalents) at no cost to yourself. You'll also get a few weeks on the job training, and you can learn more and more as you work- always knowing there'll be an experienced colleague on the end of the phone if you need help. -
that looks the part. gotta get myself one of them. That does look the business. Sorry to bring up an old thread here, but where did you get your harnesses? Or you guys that've put mark 3 transmitters on leather collars, where have you sourced the collars from? I've bought a couple, but they're far too thick to thread the transmitter onto. Suggestions welcomed! *edited for appalling grammar!! Ron.

I'm with Ditchy on this one mate. The rate you're trapping them is nothing like enough to control them.

Agreed...just keep handling her as much as possible. If you have some tubes or something for your ferrets to play in, get her used to coming out of the tube, and then being handled. Lovely stuff.
